I mean if anyone could do an immersive and story driven MMO it's Bioware. So a Dragon Age mmo (or Thedas mmo, as I doubt it'd be set in the dragon age era) could be plausible.

But I'd rather have Dragon Age a single player game, where your actions as the main character matters, instead of the lore getting raped by MMO standards and Razikel (prolly next archdemon to rise) instead becomes a Raid boss you kill once a week.

Well I don't see how they can make a 3rd game where all the choices from Origins, Awakening and DA2 carry over. That's gonna be like 200 hours of gameplay with hundreds of decisions being made.

It's too much.

Letters and Cameos. Change location. The trick is done.

And btw, at the end you would face the same problem in a storydriven MMO. The point is not the genre or how the game is played. The point is carrying choices and not estabilishing a canon. Wich I have allready discussed in the Dark Ritual thread.

Having said that, since Bioware has incorporated Warhammer I don't see another fantasy MMO coming out in the near feature. But a FREE co-op version of their games could be a good idea for the future iteration of the franchise, to improve sales on the pc and avoiding piracy issues on that platform. I would not play it but there are a lot of potential customer interested in it. Even BG 2 was played a lot in coop.

...ANOTHER western-fantasy themed mmo? >.>; Eh...I'd pass. Dozens more like that, a few of which did a good job as MMOs...BW isn't impressing me with their game mechanic decisions in SW:ToR and there's already hordes of DA-style MMOs out there...so...

Would be hilarious if Bioware was sitting around a meeting about the future of Dragon Age, and one had a proposal for an MMO, only to check this thread and then quickly tear it up and burn it.

So, NO.

A Co-op action RPG, on the other hand would be nicer, IMHO.

I tried MMOs for a few years. They can be fun if you find a good group of people but I would hate to see Bioware make one for DA because then they would likely either can the single player game or they wouldn't have the resources left to make the single player game worth anything.

In games like WoW, there have been alot of issues with lore and class build flip-flopping to fix balance issues. It felt rediculously cheesy to kill a dragon in an instance and then see another guild kill the very same dragon a week later. You can't write any kind of story for that because your characters can't fundamentally change the world.

If anything, I hope DA gets a multiplayer client ability similar to NWN where players can host their own servers. Pay-to-play never seemed worth it to me, the stuff companies create is never significant enough to be worth the cost, especially compared to the free stuff players usually made for games like NWN, where your characters could change the gaming world with unique stories.

As for carrying over characters from DA:O and DA2, I agree with several others in saying that Bioware is likely starting fresh yet again in DA 3. I sure as heck don't want to play a pre-generated character for two games and hopefully we'll get back our character creation freedoms in DA 3. So let's just start fresh a third time, far less painful for everyone that way.

Y'know, if at some point after they've made a few more single player games BioWare wanted to make a DA MMO, I honestly wouldn't mind. It's unlikely that I'd play it (MMORPGS are not really my thing) but I don't see any reason to object to its existence provided DA had a good single player run first. Few of my favourite RPG franchises have even made it to a third game, so if we get that many what they do with the property afterwards won't bother me.

Whether this is remotely likely to happen or not depends not only on how TOR goes, but on how the MMO market looks in three to five years time.

I don't see an MMO happening, but i could see maybe mod file sharing, but with a multiplayer campaign involved like NWN. This way people can play DA with there friends and yes it could work.

No thanks. Too many MMOs already, IMHO.

(and DA:O's mechanics aren't far from many existing CRPGs and MMOs, anyway...while that may be an argument toward a 'smooth transition' toward an MMO, it also means that it wouldn't readily stand out, mechanics-wise)

No, and do you want to know why? Do you really think BioWare could have 2 MMOs on the market at once? That would be like competing with yourself... no, let me rephrase that. That IS competing with yourself.

No, I would prefer another single-player experience. MMOs tend to dilute things IMO

making a Dragon Age MMO would be very.......... catastrofic, so..... no
I want Dragon Age to be just single player, besides....... since we have the abilaty to import the choices every player made from the previous games, it wouldn´t make much sense turning it into a MMO

I vote NO and not only NO but HELL NO.

A Dragon AGe MMO would have to compete with WoW.

It will fail and kill the IP.

I vote yes. I won't say why, or argue. I simply wish to see a DA MMO.

Wow. What a necro.

Might as well add to it - NO! Bioware is by my estimates going to flop with TOR in some degree anyhow.

If there were anyone inside Bioware who seriously thinks there's a big enough customer base for the Dragon Age series for an mmo right now, they shouldn't be taken too seriously.
