Well well, time for me to post something aswell.

I play on Argentum Regio for now almost 2 years, I play a Necromancer, a Paladin, and a Fighter/Weaponmaster,
let me tell you, this server is AWESOME.

The Players, almost every single one of them, are well trained RP players, some more, some less, but mostly the RP is high end!

Custom Spells, there is a HUGE lot of custom spells, including things like baneful polymorph, Conjure golem, escape to a pocket plane and many more, well scripted and very enjoyable and enhancing roleplay quite a lot!

Custom Scripting, I play here for almost TWO years, and I still find custom scripts, custom spells, areas and other things that I have never seen before.

It is a HUGE server with highest potential for builders, scripters and players who love revel in customized bits and pieces.

I can only recommend to visit it one time, and to test it for one, two, maybe three weeks, and all by its own those weeks can become years, I am living proof for it . I only was there for a small test....Boom now I have a character who is the headmaster of a wizards tower and academy.

So much for my 2 cents on this server.
Be well, and see you soon!

NEWS about Argentum Regio,

just today I have seen a glimpse of things to come, areas that noone else has seen and which are for now only for DM event use only, but will be opened for players freely not so far away.
I will not yet say the name, but if you want to keep a Paladin busy, that's the place to go!

Also, I recently found out a few more custom spells, Portal, Teleport, Blink, Conjure Golem (Yeah I know, I just love it), even a protection spell against the effects of wild magic! Wild magic can really be a pain in the arse for any mage, but with this spell well....that's one hell of an advantage, lure your wizardrous foe into a zone of wild magic and still bombard him with the same while only HE suffers the effects of the spells AND of the wildmagic when he casts himself! XD

I really must say, I enjoy this server to the fullest, although some points still need to be filed out, the overall expirience is very well.

Any time I have a problem and a DM is on, the problem is fixed in no time, never had this on any other server that they are THAT fast with it.

Well what is there left to say, come here and find out!

So long
Valerion
Be well and see you soon!

I have to say, after over two years of DMing on this server, it hasn't lost its touch. Left and right I find new features, capabilities, and awesome role play. The tools that we have on a DM here are in their own category, the ability to create quests, adventures, NPCs, and items on the fly is truly amazing. If you haven't come and seen us, we invite you with open arms. Come experience the awesome.

Quick Question: Have any on this server published mods, Haks, etc for others to use? User Friendly add-ons appears to be a strong suit, and I was wondering if such additions might be available on the vault. Also, it might advertise your works to those that have not visited yet.

Thanks!

Friend Elhanan,
THANK YOU for the kind words on the "friendly add-ons appears to be a strong suit" - we do strive to make the systems here sophisticated yet very useful/accessible to the PLAYER in game. I may be mis-attributing this but I think it was Steve Jobs that said "It is easy to make something that is hard to use, it is hard to make something that is easy to use." I can attest to the many hours of work that have gone into this project in the name of making it easy to use.

Our goal is to bring NWN as close to D&D as we can, porting the beneficial features of D&D to the use of NWN. It is a very large and complex work with much interdependencies and many include files being key to the operation. The work is still in development, we continue to refine and enhance the systems even now (this is one of the longest beta tests in history I think).

NWN was my first foray into C language, something I'd longed to code with for 20 years but never found the time and resources simultaneously available to me in those years... NWN was a real godsend in that regard. I started out self-teaching for about five years, then met Erin. She's a Masters Degree level programmer and I have been blessed to learn still more from this most capable and amazing lady in the six years since. Together, we are wrangling the last few lines into place - trying to bring the beta test to a conclusion and unveil an official 'version 1.0'.

Early on, we did release a few simple systems such as our seasonal fruit trees to the vault, but little beyond that (owing in part to ongoing dev and system interdependence - time and resource don't allow our small team to field much in the way of external support and dev too).

Our server ArgentumRegio is essentially a proving ground for our coding skills and design vision. Lean and clean, it runs stable for days on end and has more robust features than I think any other I've seen or heard of to date. As you noted, in spite of the level of sophistication, we do manage to keep the add-on friendly, easy to access and use in game. *sigh* a big task, but we progress. I thank you for your kind words.

We hope to use our server as a showcase for our work / design / programming and move on to our own PC/Android kickstarter project soon. Perhaps, when we have done so and with the maturity of our codebase, we will consider releasing a package to the NWN community, but until then... we code on. Lean and clean, we code on.

Just a FYI, as it stands our module is 1337+ Areas, 190 megabytes in size and sporting over 4000 scripts. When/if we do release this, we are talking PACKAGE. :D

Be well. Game on.

Having just joined the server, I'm beyond impressed. The DMs were very friendly and helped me out a lot, and the players were nice enough to answer all my questions. The amount of features and realism this server offers is mind blowing.

I would like to bump this thread. I have been a player at ArgentumRegio for many months now and when you read the other comments that say THERE IS NO OTHER PLACE LIKE IT....It couldn't be more true.
The impact that you and your PC's can have on the server is endless. The immersion and realism is beyond compare. In no other server i have ever played on do you become so involved and spend so much time creating your unique story. Whether its simply questing, Exploring, climbing, swimming, flying, jumping around. (YES all of these are possible in ArgentumRegio) Or filling in your own log book of events in your personnel diary there is something for the new and experienced alike.
Upon entering the server you are greeted by friendly staff and players alike who are more than happy to drop everything they may be doing to HELP YOU. And if no staff are present there is a whole area designed to teach you the tips and tricks you will need to survive, So your a rogue who doesnt know how to climb through windows?? BAHA get to the University and learn it then!.

Its far too easy to ramble on about the events and things to do in ArgentumRegio but wouldnt it be easier to just get inside and do it yourself?

Friendly Staff, A welcome atmosphere, An endless journey.
Argentum Regio.

I've been playing nwn for 10 years now and spend most of my time on a heavy duty RP server with great dm's and adventures, action en great pc's...after that server went down i quit nwn for 4 years, but the craving for nwn never died...

...thus 4 years later i installed it again and looked for a pw to play on...Argentum Region was the first and probably the last, it's a great place with many features that enhance roleplay, the players are very friendly and welcoming and accept both novice players and experienced roleplayers. The dm's host great events, and the players respond to the events with skill and enthousiasm, i have never seen anyone left out in the year i've been playing there now.

There is a steady playerbase and we welcome more players to join! :D

cheers and see you soon!

Well, I recently came back to the world again, after a few months of break and I must say I am astounished, today I found several new areas, I think in the last weeks around FIFTY or more, and I already explored almost 50 perhaps 60, if I am really lucky 70% of the server, in THREE YEARS, and now I am stumbling over a higher number of yet unknown places.

I love the new drow areas, we have more and more Drow coming to us, although to this game world not native, they are a huge addition and the areas are really some eyecandy, except for the drow guards that kind of ra*ed me in the mouth as a human XD.

I can only recommend taking a look, testing for a few weeks, the players are friendly, helpful, and there is less "my virtual c*ck is bigger than yours" play but more "How can I help you to have more fun with me/us in here" play.
I must compliment our DM Althaless here, although I had a major argument with him about something being unfair in my eyes, I used salty language, was offensive and insulting as I must admit to my shame, yet he remained calm, and let me cool down a while before we rediscussed and I apologized for my blunt and impolite behaviour, and what does he do? Simply accepts the apology and tries to find the best end to it with me. Seriously guys, I really had a bad day there on that day....and acted like a bloody baboon with an axe and a bipolar disorder, and what do the dms do, warn you, let you calm down, rediscuss the issue, and in the end we're friends again, now tell me, whereelse to you find such good DM's that do enforce rules but in a way that if you return with an apology and showing remorse for wrongdoing. Simply discuss with you and even come towards you with a solution, so you can continue playing, having fun with others.

I tell you, if this server deserves one name for reputation, it is, mutual positive continuing developement center 1!.

So long, and thanks for all the fish

I have been playing for almost four years now. This world is one of the oldest running pw.

A highly custom scripted world where your characters can do almost everything one can do in real life within the mechanics of the game.

You can fully play many races here you can not find elsewhere like a wide variety of werecreatures which can do more than just change.

It is an rp server and focuses more on that. It is not  aserver for pwoer up level quickly.

Dms are involved and try t assist players by holding events.Posted Image

I just started a rogue class pc and the feats this pw offers for rogues is awesome...

...slip item into another players inventory
...hide in crates and that crate can be carried by another ( unknowing ) character
...a merchant that buys the stuff you 'aquired'
...a thieves guild that has an awesome and huge maze as a base of operations
...grift an npc or pc for information or coin
...lots and lots of secrets to be found in the city, outskirts, maze, underdark, etc...

If rogue is your favorite class you should definetly check this pw out...because my rogue could use some new recruits :D

Cheers

Forum posts from this place which are valid for this thread:

-------------------------------------------------

Well, perhaps this comes as a surprise for some of you, to others it's likely long overdue. But the fact is I've decided to stop playing here, at least for a little while.

The reasons that have lead me to this decision are quite numerous, and as such, I'll only provide you with the ones I find the most pertinent to mention.

1 - Dohral feels... incomplete. I was somewhat shocked to hear it's been in beta for almost 7 years, or was it 8? I forgot. Sorry Elgate! This gives me the idea that there's no intentions to fix what is broken and improve what could use a little touch. Too many areas are with very minor bugs that eventually get to you as you notice just how many they are, most of the areas I've been have no personality and feel like the random terrain generator's been having too much use..

2 - Some things just dont make sense to me.. Namely the lack of lore. I've been trying to endure this, and learn it IG, but due to my own playstyle, this hasn't been exactly very fruitful. What little I could gather however, did not make much sense to my head. Maybe I've just learned to expect more out of PWs than they can give. It's an old game, and for all effects, after 8 years playing it, so am I, and we get clingy to the past experiences. Back on topic however, I simply can't support the idea of lore having to be found out IG fully. That's a policy for disaster. I'm used to having the basic information everyone should know either through gossip or by residing in the area. I'm also used to the ''to find out IG'' counterpart to be posted on the forums as well, largely as a reference, and signaled that it can't be taken IG unless Dm approved or learned via Rp. It's not hard to do this. But we all have different views on how to implement things. I feel this one is quite the bad approach but i'm just the new girl in town.

3 - The type of Rp. Don't take this last phrase as an offense. Last thing I want to do. Frankly, what I mean by this is that it's.. much too different from what I'm used to. Or rather, I usually spot one or two people with a similar enough style to my own that make the PW less lonely. Sadly, the few ones I've seen, namely valerion, Mr. Heckert and a few interactions with Robert topside, are usually busy, away, or simply not matching my playtime whatsoever, and the world of Dohral becomes a day-long afk mode moment for me. The contrast between my character's personality and the majority of the server's has been INCREDIBLY fun to be sure, but there's better things to do IRL than sit alone partially afk.

Anyway, these are the main things that have slowly driven me of for the last week. I guess to a point the apparent assumption behind several players that I'm someone else hasn't been encouraging. I also haven't had the bestest of interactions with the admin of the server but that's a subject best not discussed here. The bottom line is I'm going to focus IRL for a bit from here on, and see if the mood to play returns.

-------------------------------------------------

ODA did not remove ANY Link - and I do not appreciate your making such misstatements regarding me and my actions. What you posted is in fact part of the chat log, that chat log is still in the chat box as of this writing.

So that everyone has full context, here is the whole of the chatlog that I came online to find this morning.

JP and others,

Note they were on the server for all of 11 days and came to these conclusions. The server is full of mysteries and novices do not suss it all on a glance. Sad to see impatience.

No server is for everyone, but we welcome all. Give it a whirl and judge for yourself.

Yes, it is a work in progress (like it is a bad thing that a server continues to develop?).

Be well. Game on.

Hello!

I tried this server and what i saw was pretty epic. They seem to have at least one DM on all the time (whenever i was there at least) and regardless of what sword player is saying i found the staff to be very friendly. The one staff member who everyone seems to refer to as "Darkness" even told me to just ask if i wanted a event done for me.

An event offer on my first day!? I was on Amia for like, 3 years and no one on the staff even seemed to give me the time of day and yet here it seems that the DM's go out of there way to help everyone. I don't know what happened in that post up there but there must be more to the story than what we are seeing.

Well its not the what but the way it was handled.  There are complaint procedures which the player did not follow.  Publicly bad mouthing anyone, especially the Admin is in bad form.  The anger should have been left in private emails.

Yes as mentioned it is a work in progress. A good place to explore especially since it is in beta as you can test many build and class combos as well as different creatures and races.

Here is the wiki with more info:

Replied to the issue raised in the above topic. The fact that this is a double post in an attempt to disuade others from trying out a perfectly good server is beyond me. Troll.

To clarify things, this player indeed was only on for 11 days, + - 1. Although I enjoyed the rather consequent, RP, such few days are not enough to get a big picture of the whole server, I am playing here for 3 years now, through the years I spent a lot of hours exploring, often I found nothing, often I got lost, but also often I found one or more secrets, hideouts, dungeons, crafting secrets, custom spells, monsters and so on. The world is build rather realistic, yes that also means that many areas are not fully filled with stuff to do or entirely fleshed out, it is a 1337+ area server, what does one expect. 2 Main Builder and a lot of unregular guest builders can only do so much.

Aswell as the many "empty" areas are considered, they have their meaning aswell, it is space to expand, space to build in, the server encourages guest building, and if someone has the feeling something is missing, he/she is welcomed to build something and hand in the results or build something in teamwork with the GM's and DM's and so on, and give it as a suggestion.

Another thing is the "deleted" post, in truth, the post was not deleted, but the GM hid it to be able to phrase a proper response to explain and clarify, without having everyone swamp it with a discussion that would lose the former point of this post.

The post aswell as the answer was shown again afterwards, and as I predicted knowing the GM, he did NOT simply delete the post, and the prejudgement that was passed by the people was wrong, although bein upset seeing a post suddenly vanish is understandable. There is always the possibility to ask POLITELY, where it has gone and why it has gone or made hidden or whatever.

Excuse my bad english here, I am no native speaker.

So generally said, Argentum Regio is not a server for everyone, sometimes it is boring, sometimes it is eyepopping fantastic in my eyes, and considering what I ICly found out about the background lore and the hidden mysteries so far in my 3 years, makes me think, I surely will stay another 3 years, it has it's flaws, seems not very fleshed out sometimes, but as said, work in progress, continuing developement, and if someone feels it empty, sorry but 2 people and a few unregulary builders can only do so much, so join the club and help fleshing out.
