It will probably not use Steamworks as no EA game has to date.

Yea I actually would like to know this too. A digital version of some delux edition would be pretty awsome.

It'd be great if we could have an answer from a developer re whether DA2 will be a Steamworks game or not. And if it's not, will the PC disc versions of DA2 need to have the disc in the drive to play? I don't like it when game discs need to be in the drive to run, so I'll buy an electronic copy to get around this if need be, but buying a disc that can be ditched after initial installation and validation to get around the large download would be ideal.

It's a safe bet to say "No, it will not be a steamworks game." As to whether we'll be able to pre-order on Steam, I'm pretty sure we will, but as with ME2, I don't think we'll see it available on Steam until closer to release since EA would prefer to drive more customers to their own digital download service. Just be patient, it will more than likely appear on Steam in late January or early February.

This is what I'm afraid of.  Steam users are going to get screwed out of the Signature Edition.  I really hate getting strong armed into choosing a particular retailer.  I don't want to do it but I may be passing on DA2 if this is the case.

The Witcher 2's coming out around the same time....  :P

The game releases in March. A pre-order is a pre-order whether it's 5 months before or 1 month before. Pre-orders get the Signature Edition.

I would hope not, bad enough New Vegas does. The less I have to open that over rated crappy drm program the better.

Besides Steam works pretty well, and Steamworks is apparently the best tool around for online gaming.

Steam is amazing. I wish Bioware/EA would just embrace it so we could get Steam achievements and the overlay (I know you can add the overlay to non-steam games, but sometimes it doesn't work).

Having saves automatically backed up with Steam Cloud is really handy too.

The Signature Edition is on Impulse but not on Steam (yet?). Hopefully there will be a Steam release as well.

It is officially on Impulse, yeah.  And I've now officially preordered.

Yeah, it's also up for pre-order on D2D, but personally I'm not going to pre-order it anywhere but on Steam anyway.
