Dragon age 2 Steam question

Mass Effect 2's pre-order showed up on Steam relatively late to the party, so I suspect the same will be true for DA2. Though I suspect it will happen before the cutoff for the Signature Edition at least.

Steam is amazing. I wish Bioware/EA would just embrace it so we could get Steam achievements and the overlay (I know you can add the overlay to non-steam games, but sometimes it doesn't work).
Having saves automatically backed up with Steam Cloud is really handy too.
Agreed.

It will probably not use Steamworks as no EA game has to date.
I would hope not, bad enough New Vegas does. The less I have to open that over rated crappy drm program the better.
Necessary evil to curb piracy.
I look at it the completly opposite way, it just encurages piracy.
Why pay money for a inferior product you can get for free?
I've never bought as many games as I do now thanks to steam even though I used to spend a lot more time gaming before...

I hope you are right - We can get app. two-three weeks before the release as we did with ME2 and DAO, and therfore no sig.DVACDK wrote...
I firmly belive it will be on steam, all other newer bioware games is, so i dont see a reason why not. Plus DA:O was added a fair time later then other digital stores like EA/D2D etc etc. We are still 1½ month away from the Sig. edition date.

I hope the NPC that they've cut out of the game for the signature edition won't be that good, It will be really annoying if its a Shale level character.

I'd really love for it to be Steamworks, or for Bioware and EA to work something out with Valve so I can get my old CD copies of Dragon Age registered on Steam.

Retail version are registerable only on EA Download Manager for all EA games (except some older ones like ME1)
I do like EADM but Steam is better, auto updates, Online Achievements, Steam Cloud, Friends, etc on the same thing.
That said, Bioware features good things too, at least for DAO: Online Achievements, Characters Importation, Bioware Social Network, EADM.

?? They've already said there won't be a signature version on Steam. No banana, nada, nyet, bupkus, go to D2D or Impulse or do not collect Bioware's boondoggle.V0LK0V wrote...
Welp, we are, about, six days away from when we cannot get the SE of DA2 on Steam. There aren't even trailers for it on Steam.
Any new answers guys?

yeah, that sucks
I already got KOTOR, Jade Empire, ME1, ME2 Collector, DAO Collector, Awakening... all on Steam
I was looking forward for the Steam version of DA2 as well, and would even pay more for the Signature edition stuff it it becomes avaible later... as long as it was avaible on Steam
I will probably get it used later on or rent it for my PS3.. thanks EA

How will it work with character imports if your DA:O is Steam version and your DA2 hard copy? Can you specify the save directory? ( My windows 7 uses the Docs loc but my husbands XP has a different install loc ) and since we won't share it will be good to know before hand...
I really wish the pre-order sig edition would have been on Steam. I would have ordered it already. I switched over most of my games to STeam now because it is just SO convenient ( and they have great deals)

My retail DAO (on Windows 7) uses the following folder for saves: Documents -> BioWare -> Dragon Age -> Charactersshantisands wrote...

Which sounds like it is the same as yours, and therefore your character should import fine - hope that answers your question.

They actually said No, or did they say " we have no info yet, we will tell you if/when it happens" ?
Chris Priestly himself said it will NOT be on Steam
