I just released the new improved version of my old module; Amazon Warrior.

Please give it a try, and report bugs if you find any. ;)

Hmm. Nice screenshots - check. Custom music - check. Custom hak - check. Opening credits movie with still-shots from delightfully bad D-list Fantasy films set to the music of Trio Bulgarka - Awesome.

I'll definitely add this to my list!

Seems cool, I'm planning to give it a try soon. The screenshots look a lot like NWNCQ but I couldn't find any mention of it yet. Did you remake your mod using the NWNCQ haks? Or do you advise players to play it with the NWNCQ override?

Thanks for your interest :)

It is advised to use NWNCQ, I mentioned it in the User Manual.
I use the override version myself until it goes into CEP.

Great work! It's nice to see activity in the single-player department. Thanks for posting to the NWVault for everyone.

FYI ... there is some advertising spam comment on the module's HAK page. If you e-mail the site admins there, they can remove it.

FP!

I tried to play your upgraded module but I can't start it , the NWN launcher and the log file say it need a custom talk table. I installed all your hak, ambient, music and localvault files, can you tell me what I'm doing wrong?:o
And thank you for sharing your module with the NWN-community!:)

CEP 2.3 is required, and the mod uses the last (I guess?) CEP .tlk (cep23_v1). ;)

Thank you, that's the problem, I've installed CEP but I still only have the CEP 2, 2.1, and 2.2 tlk files.
Thank you again!:D

You could as you said escape from the tent through the tearing, only... you shouldn't, a bit of a bug, and, instead, let the romains do what they're best at with you.

 An amazing amazon module!
Beautiful, strong on the story, fast in the rythm (not in the beginning, where the author was obviously experimenting the toolset for her? first time... :whistle:, which goes also for the very first cinematics she had the nerve to  commit... but it gets better fast enough.). If you don't mind being a lonely gorgeous amazon (3 "sort of classes"), with only some occasionnal henchy along the way...
The custom gear is fantastic, very smart events unfolding at every step, often in the most hunky-dory designed areas...
'meaning you should play "Amazon Warrior" with NWNCQ (check my list in my signature below) installed in your override folder, since that's how Xialya made it... but it's not included neither advised in her lazy but talented package.

My only regret being  the music unfortunately so well chosen it could make you forget about all the above...

Warming!!!  :police::police::police::police:                   :?:crying:

It's an adult module, but in the words only!
(Therefore, I firmly recommend to any NWN youngster, eventually interested, to play it of course, and simply avoid reading a single word of it... :bandit:)

Now, about the very unusual system that module is using, the DHCRS? (read the user manual!): That could be very disorienting at first. Even at third... But at forth, once you finally decided to play, and just read a bit along the path, you gonna see NWN in a different way, at least I did, which, I believe now, gives to « Amazon Warrior » a sort of unique flavor, and a very strong attachment to your character... seeing the effort it took you to give her life.

Of course I'm exagerating, but lesser here than my usual, in my so humble opinion... :innocent::wub:

Thanks Xialya! It's most definitely worth the update.

And now, maybe I should simply get back to playing it...

When the cut scenes fire I get a odd doubling up of the words...it is like the picture is oscillating back and forth, making it nearly unreadable until it is over and I can review what is being said.

Also Saetos and Markos's heads didn't show up the first time I talked to them but showed up later when I came back from the fight.

I have NWNCQ installed and I can't say that I am noticing anything exceptional so far; do you have to take the components out of the folders and put them into your override folder directly?

It is recommended to use NWNCQ in the manual...additionally in the manual it also states you have to use the provided character. The later statement should be made much more clear in the module description, I tried to make a character the first time I started the module.

From about 30 min or so of play I can say it looks pretty good so far so I'd recommend checking it out as well.

Heads can be funny, but I don't mind as long as there is something I'm looking for behind almost any kind of bug.
Yes the latest NWNCQ goes into the override, and yes you have to play the provided PC as the system being used here isn't the regular NWN and a regular PC will not work.
Xialya might not be the most organised and impecable module maker as long as she is funny as an author... ;-)
Why do I keep saying she is a she...

It was not a question of if NWNCQ goes into the override. Can I have a folder in my override entitled NWNCQ_extended and the files from the download in that folder or must I put them in without a folder? Does this apply to the files in the shader folder as well?

Basically does it work like:

Override

-->NWNCQ

-->many NWNCQ files

-->Shader

-->Shader files

or

Override

-->Many NWNCQ Files

-->Shader Files

Yes, all the files have to be in your main override folder (as in your 2nd example). You can have other folders in your override folder for storing purposes but to my knowledge NWN will ignore their content when it comes to applying overrides.

Oups, I see, 'looks like I missed the question...

I remember I was kind of disoriented myself, either with that module or one I played just before (some music subfolders...) containing folders inside folders...

But I remembered reading somewhere NWN "never" looks further than the first level.

Which has yet to be confirmed, but always worked in my case.

(Just like I read at the same time NWN2, in the contrary, reads the subfolders... To be confirmed eventually.)

I think the NWNCQ installer/configuration tool actually works with this, copying files in and out of folders if you toggle them on or off.

ah thank you Olivier...NWN2 looks in the folders (consider this confirmed) and I have never used my override folder in NWN before this (or at least it was so long in the past I have forgotten doing so). That explains why I have not noticed any particular improvement by using NWNCQ *laughs*

 Xialya,

Finally getting time to delve into your work, and I like what I see.  I'll let you know if I see any bugs.

If you ever do another update, consider adding Feanor's Medieval Armory hak; you can create awesome Roman costume and armor.  Check out http://social.biowar...t/3687/#gallery for a few examples I just put together.

Uhh, I should have checked here earlier ^^

Thank you all for your interest. :)

@jmlzemaggo I'm going to reply to your PMs, sorry I haven't noticed them earlier. :D (and yes I'm a she ^^)

@Bubba McThudd I'll check the link and salvage what I find there if it's interesting. ^^

@Spell Singer Sometimes creatures do not appear properly when first loaded. Nothing I can do on my part about that. As for NWNCQ, I simply put all the files into my Override.

Xialya,

The nwncq is working for me properly and it does a very good job.

So far I've found the module fun but the combat system does take some getting used to. The giant crab I basically had to exploit to defeat...used up 20 barbed and 80 regular arrows on it while it was stuck at the end of a tunnel. A first time player is really at a disadvantage in choosing how to upgrade the character since it isn't clear what is useful and what is not, or where you should put your points (characteristics...skills...techniques). I'm not talking about min-maxing so much as just general guidelines: are social skills worth it for example? How do spells work and are they worth trying to get? What skill do I need to identify magic items?

Beyond the confusion over character advancement I am finding the module fun and my recommendation still stands.

Yes, the DHCRS might be quite hard to get used to it if you haven't played on one of my PWs, though it is only a very light version featured in this module.

Most of the things you need to know have been put into the User Manual.

I made upgradeable only the skills that are used during this adventure. So all skills are worth upgrading, Though some would be more useful than others, and it also depends on your character's Archetype and how you see your character.

Since the theme of the module is "War", upgrading Combat Skills is advised.

As for Social Skills, there is only Deceit that is available to upgrade if I recall well. It is used in only one secondary quest during a conversation, and only if you have managed to fool the guy with the Acting Skill first while wearing the bad guys outfit. (otherwise it goes combat).

It might not be worth sacrificing Character Points into that unless you really want to.

The Rogue Archetype starts with a higher value in those Skills.

**Some basic explanations:

- Upgrading Strength increases your Damage Modifier, and also your Attack Modifier with heavy weapons.

- Upgrading Stamina and Willpower increases your Wounds, your Healing Rate, and all your resistances (poison, illness, etc).

- Upgrading Agility increases your Attack Modifier with melee weapons. (except heavy weapons).

- Upgrading Awareness increases your Attack Modifier with ranged and throwing weapons.

- Upgrading Reflexes increases your Defense Rating.

- Intelligence and Charisma have limited use in combat.

- All Stats affect your Skills. (check the User Manual to see what Stats are used by a given Skill).

* Purchasing Advantages & Techniques is advised. Just read the descriptions and take what you need. Some are more adapted to a style of play than others.

* The most used Skills are:

- Combat Skills (depends on the type of weapon you use). Defense is only useful if you rely on a shield.

- Anatomy. Some of your attacks may ignore the opponent's Armor Rating.

- Medicine. When using bandages or herbs.

- Survival. To skin/forage for ingredients such as herbs and venom.

- Alchemy. Only if you want to use poisons.

- Stealth. If you want to avoid most of the fights.

- Locksmith, and Traps. Only if you are into that.

- Perception. If you don't want to step into a trap.

- Tactics. Heavily used during Chapter 15.

The other Skills aren't that useful.

- Riding. Only during Chapter 15, if you want to ride a horse and fight effectively.

- Lore. To study artifacts and learn more about their properties through the option in the Character Menu. (F12).

- Deceit and Acting. For one secondary quest only, and if you want to avoid combat.

- Athletics. You will run and swim a bit faster, and avoid some traps, but otherwise the Skill has no other use during this adventure.

- Craft. Used a couple of times only.

The setting of this module is supposed to be historical, with no fantasy elements included. (except legendary beasts from ancient myths of the time). So the magic system is not included, there aren't any spell.

I hope I have accurately answered your questions. :)

Do not hesitate to ask if you need more input.
