You see if I had shot myself every time I found a troll I would have killed myself 8,978,873,435 times by now.
I just can't afford that many bullets.

Just wondering why females need a seperate suit of armor for the sole purpose of showing their curves in ME? Combat armor should be unisex.
Women have curves. Women's body types are different than men's. Ergo, they need differently shaped armor. I don't understand what is so difficult to comprehend about this. Simply acknowledging that women do in fact have breasts and hips does mean anything is being oversexualized. And besides, both the male and female sets of armor make your Shepard look great, but I don't see anyone complaining that male Shepard's armor sexualizes him just because he has a broad manly chest and strong shoulders.

Well the difference is that those games are Fantasy. ME is Sci-fi and tries to simulate what is most likely to happen in the future, and currently combat armor is unisex.
Assuming the Combat armour you refer to are the armours you cant Mix'n'Max; All of them are...Except of course the Collectors Chitinous Armour, That is not a Unisex Armour.

Yes because they should be unisex. I really don't care myself since I always play male, but it may draw heat from feminists that females are sexualized in the game.
Believe me, if the issue was going to draw 'heat from feminists' you would know about it already. This is a non-issue. The armor shows the female form, but it does not in any way accentuate any part unnecessarily. If anything, it masculinizes femShep's body shape. It is not unduly flattering, and it is eminently practical.
Why, it's almost as if BioWare had hired someone to help design realistic combat armor. Funny that.
Yeah, and the breasts on female Sheppard is even a bit too small to be honest, a little size on them wouldn't be a bad thing... Nothing like Lara Croft size of course lol...

They did fix her proportions starting in Tomb Raider: Legend. As of Guardian of Light and Underworld, I'd say her body is far more realistic.

Also, just throwing it out there, screaming TROLL every time someone brings up an issue you don't agree with isn't funny or clever. Yes, we all love the game, but being blind to any potential faults doesn't help it improve. As one of the most militant feminists I know I'd say that the game does have a few problems with female presentation, but the armour for the most part isn't one of them, and the problems are no worse than those encountered by, say, every game ever made.

Just because female representation in most games is horrific and Bioware's track record by comparison is great doesn't mean it's perfect. Mass Effect 2 has never struck me as oversexualising women, although the way the female LIs are portrayed could use some work, but I do take the OP's point about armour. Unless it's paper thin around the waist and padded around the breasts, it doesn't look very realistic to me, and just for immersion's sake I'd prefer if more of the sets looked like the bulky heavy armour, but then again I also think a lot of the male armour looks like baby pyjamas so there you go.

I remember reading a blog by a feminist gamer and she had one entry on Mass Effect. Most of her gripes were about Matriarch Benezia (which I agree with her on, her covering is just unrealistic, like she has no nipples) and Miranda (I also agree about the gratuitous ass-shots). I can suspend disbelief on Miranda's uniform though, since I've gotten used to games where the women are so scantily clad that it's become the norm. The blogger did have a very minor gripe about Ashley's armor looking like some fetish gear (lol).

Everyone in mass effect wears tigth gear not just miranda and benezia....All light armor in ME1 was butt hugging and 2/3 female LI for ME2 wear super tight clothes (jacob being a military man it makes no sense he needs armor more than miranda does, and he also has an equal amount of ass shots and you can see his crack)
skinny jeans are popular now along with tank tops and short short's
People like to look sexy, and I've seen people dress far more revealing on my campus than in this game

Anyway, there's an interesting interview about Miranda with Casey Hudson and a female contributor to 1up. I suggest you read it: http://www.1up.com/d...try?bId=9026439
Female blogger was just wrong...Jacob does have an equal amount of sexy time +we didn't get to see miranda completley topless like jacob (or get butt shot like in ME1)
Agree with casey 100%
And jacks outfit is part of her character it's not even that sexualized Super baggy pants, combat boots, and lots of ink are turnoffs for most

That 'article' is ridicilous. I'd go on a big rant on why thats crappy journalism, but just go ahead and read the comments to the article it self, they cover it pretty well.

Ya I liked caseys answers. It fits their characters, plus I always though jack just had the belt bra because she couldnt find anything else an/or they put her in cryo that way just to show a little dignity.

So we can't compromise on, "X" off duty clothing aboard normandy but "armor" while on mission?
I don't want ME1 armor system we're it is all the same just with new colors that was horrible
I want current gear system improved upon for shepard(more parts) and give to squadmates too so everyone has unique armor but also gives customization options

It's not an article, save for the 2 paragraphs at the end. I was more interested in what Casey Hudson had to say and less interested in the case the interviewer was pressing.

Off duty, honestly I dont care, I hope they keep the same outfits, conitinuity right. For all we know the 3rd game could take place days after the second. They had the story written up before hand so its not like they just said alright, 1st game done now lets start the writing of the second. The main story arc was in place.
Anyways sorry for the off topic rant. Ya what I would like is custon but unique armours for each character. Maybe like 2 peices per place per person so there could be a bit of customization, or maybe just colour and pattern changes.

damn how tiresome, can't you just use your imagination, I didn't mention, ME1, or ME2... shees. All I said was armor, if you happen to like ME1 better, then w/e rocks your boat, if you like ME2 better, then that suits you, hence why I didn't specify anything...
Damn if you do damn if you dont.
just for u, I hope they bring back ME1 armors, so you stop arguing...

If you've read my previous posts in this thread, you'd know that I'm fine with most of the stuff in ME. Hell, I play the Tomb Raider games and I'm OK with Lara (admittedly, her appearance has much improved since TR:L). Compared to other games, Bioware's depiction of women is definitely not oversexualized. I've become pretty indifferent to stuff like this:

and have just accepted it as part of the industry. Will it change in time? Probably, but I don't really care too much.
For Mass Effect my only real complaint is Benezia looking weird like she has no nipples because her top is absurdly low cut. I don't mind Miranda's outfit or anybody elses.

The only woman in all of ME who i thought had the "sex sells" look go a bit off the pitch was Benezia, but it was only mainly because I saw her outfit and thought to myself how silly it looked....

Yeah I realise my post came across a bit accusatory towards you, it was not intended. I was just trashing the crap interview in general.
