I'll give bioware the benefit of doubt, and won't rush to conclusions until ME 3 is released, but if you actually think carefully about it, ignoring ME 1 completely seems like the logical choice, or at least the easiest one (for them).
Regarding the PS3, i don't care, i own all gaming systems available so the PS3 version of this game doesn't affect me in the slightest, as long as they don't add exclusive content for that version ( i won't buy the same game twice just because).

Ok, now that I've read through the thread I'll try to not reitterate anything that has already been said (well, besides my above kudos which seems to be the majority of the posts... And for good reason, you see to few reasonable threads.)
I do want to touch base on the biggest complaint I've heard, and really, it seems unwarranted. The "exclusive content" rant. I know it's been pointed out, but really besides just being a fanboy, I don't see any merit for it. Most likely, it'll be nothing more than a bridge to bring PS3 up to date as well as offering the "decisions" that interact w/the storyline in 2 and 3. Of course, this is my speculation, but it makes more sense than them throwing in DLC content that's never been involved in the series to date. Also, another likely posibility is the GOTY theory. Something that is common practice to re-boost sales.
I know this is my own speculation, but I think this is healthy, thought inducing speculation. Not just mindless, but also completely baseless and unfair accusations. I believe the complete opposite of what Op was attempting with this thread.
I guess this is kind of a rant of my own, but I just can't understand why reason and common sense is so rare these days. It truly is a disturbing trend.

no problem, you cant get any REAL information on the announcement of ME2 PS3 thread because of so many off the wall and irrational baseless posts, just trying to make it simple as possible to get some actual information. you're welcome.
Hmmm... I just hope they'll fix the wall problem that was omnipresent in the PC version. I can't say how much that irritated me when you'd have to go to a wall or something else for cover and the darn game stuck you to it and you can't move or get off of it. You're just stuck. PLEASE fix this for the PS3 version! Does the 360 version have this problem? If not, I'm HIGHLY considering picking up the 360 version JUST to have that issue resolved.

What I especially like is that with the PS3 there will be no disc swapping. Too I hope that they fix all the bugs and glitches found in ME2 for the Xbox. Myself I doubt I'll pay for another copy of ME2 even if an improved version. There would have to be some PS3 only content for me to consider it. But you know that would really p-off the Xbox 360 owners so I doubt that will happen. If BioWare do spin-offs of Mass Effect like a whole Quarian game or something I'll pick it up for the PS3.

With the way Bioware is keeping actual information so close to their chest, it makes me think we won't know anything until its release. I hope in my paranoia I am wrong, but we all know how secretive they can be.
I'd wager we'll hear something NOV/DEC, the best thing they can do is release a PS3 demo in late December before the release in January, I'm sure they will as Mass Effect is a foreign element to PS3 so it'd be smart to release a demo.

Looks like the different content is either/both:
1. Ordinary DLC, such as the weapon packs, Overlord, Firewalker, etc.
2. Some sort of ME1-ME2 bridge content, to help those who never played ME1 understand what is going on and make some of the major decisions.
Regardless, there isn't much to complain about; saying that as a PC user with absolutely none of the DLC. Looking at the situation from a standard perspective, are the 360 users actually somehow wronged or inconvenienced by this port? Different people get to play one of the best games of the decade. The PS3 users will probably pay just as much as everyone else for this, or just minimally less if some of the non-Cerberus DLC is free for them.
CRY SOME MORE!
Too early to really be sure what content as far as DLC is concerned will go along with the PS3 port of ME2, somehow some feel cheated out of money, and feel it's unfair for a different platform to get any of the DLC that they paid for. Though this happens all the time with GOTY(Game of The Year) editions of games that make their way onto different platforms or in most cases re-released on the platform of origination, in which the post original release DLC and updates are included, and the GOTY editions typically go MSRP 59.99 USD for consoles.
I think it's moreso that it's PS3, dont ask me why, I'm a gamer, concerning current gen, that's had a 360, always had a PC, and now own a PS3 instead of a 360 for console gaming.
The way I see it as far as dollars and cents is ME2 is what 29.99-39.99 new, and the DLC to date is roughly 20 or so USD so considering ME2 PS3 is selling for 59.99USD there really isnt anything not lining up costwise for PS3 users to have the current experience that PC and 360 users currently have and have had for nearly a year.
And the main point is said... How does this seem unfair is what I've been trying to figure out! It's over a year old! No one in the other thread was thinking about that very important point! Hope to get more news soon!

'They dont have to qoute... It's a Port to PS3! ANy ports to PS3 or PSP have to have 20% more content/ new content. It's the Sony rule to Porting to there system. Why would anyone be pissed over a year+ old game getting new content?! This makes no sense and adds nonsense to this thread... Please stay away from this page Forsythia if adding 360 nonsence is your goal here. Do you own a PS3? If so be happy for new content. If not, why are you here?Operative84 wrote...

I don't care for the intro, I have ME1 anyways, but I'm seriously pissed if PS3 gets exclusive content. And it sure doesn't help that BioWare just doesn't say anything.
There has been no announcement or statement, stating that the PS3 will be getting "exclusive content".
An Example: Tales of Vesperia: 360 game exclusive, gets port to PS3 2 years later, has new characters, story, missions, more voice work etc due to Sony not allowing less than 20% more new content to a PS3 port. Look at any port to PS3 and this should be obvious... It's highly likely it will have new content. Dont get mad if you dont own a PS3. You could get a PS3 too or wait a year like we did or they might give it to 360 owners in a GOTY ver 6 months+ after the exclusive rights pass. Not being smart about it, but I dont understand the logic in being upset on this issue...

I think most are aware of Sony's standards regarding older titles porting over to its console, however all I've been saying is that other than the Introductory Module that's obviously needed for the PS3 version as PS3 does not and probably will not ever get ME1 is the only confirmed exclusive content that the PS3 version will receive. Too many people jumping to conclusions about the words "content" and "exclusive". Everyone has the right to read over this thread, however posting paranoia and feelings of being betrayed because you ALREADY own it for 360 or PC and seem to have more of a problem with PS3 rather than anything else is just childish.
But obviously this is the internet and having anonymity brings the best out of everyone............................
I would also like to add that ME2 is now 19.99 USD for XBOX360, so if everyone wants to have a reality check, that price drop almost brings 59.99+ for the PS3 version extremely reasonable in terms of the "UNCONFIRMED" DLC that will be included with it, in comparison to the current cost of DLC available ALREADY for 360 and PC users and the cost of ME2.
As far as the GOTY application to ME2 being released for PS3 though, people seem to still have something in the form of ignorance blocking how that works from being absorbed by their brains.
Again as stated on page one, gripes because of ME2 no longer being exclusive(which it never was to begin with) need to be put into the announcements thread which so many other rational people have participated in, with slander, ignorance, and overall extreme entitlement issues. If you're having a bad day I understand it happens, if you need to vent, I understand, but please, pretty please with a cherry on top chill out. Maybe write in a journal how you feel then read over it in a few days and think about how you sound before freaking out in here.

Price for Standard Edition Mass Effect 2 XBOX360: 19.99 USD Plus Tax
Price for ALL DLC available NOW for 360 version of ME2:
32.00 or 2560 MS pts.
Price of Standard Mass Effect 2 PC: 15.99 USD Plus Tax
PS3 price comparison to 360 and PC versions of ME2:
PS3-59.99+ tax (WITH UNCONFIRMED DLC)
360-19.99+ tax PLUS the OPTIONAL DLC cost of 32.00= $51.99+
PC-15.99+tax plus OPTIONAL DLC 32.00= 47.99
PS3 versions will cost between $8-12 more than ME2 versions for 360 or PC versions, and keep in mind nobody has CONFIRMED WHAT DLC will be on the PS3 version.
Still feel ripped off and betrayed after going through this price breakdown?? If so refer to ME2 PS3 announcement thread, it's in the announcements section for Mass Effect, you'll feel right at home there.

Currently, editing a save for a PS3 game is possible, however once it's edited and you place the save back onto your PS3 it becomes corrupted and the PS3 is therefore unable to load the altered or edited save.
It's not so much a BioWare issue as it is a Sony issue. People were editing saves with the intention of manipulating trophies and other abilities. Currently on 360 doing so is possible, however in relation to manipulated accounts, and or manipulated options for other games such as online shooters, it's given the user the ability to cheat online. Which is the other reason it is impossible to successfully edit a PS3 Savegame File.
If BioWare were to include a minor editor simply for the purpose of enabling certain story options to start with(though I believe the Intro Module will be good enough), or provide the ability to use a PC savegame and import it online such as you would with a DA:O character in regards to the PC Character Creator that is linked to your EA account, that allows you to import a character onto your PC, PS3, or 360 version of DA:O, that would be nice and work as well.

This. It's a single player game. If I modify it it shouldn't matter.

In regards to it's effect on ME3 I think working on another version will give bioware a chance to practice and tinker in safety. Basically think of the ps3 version as a trial/rehearsal/practice for anything they are considering for ME3, I just can't see this doing anything but good for the series as a whole.
(that said, I can understand how the 360's are feeling after FFXIII went multi-platform, all I can say is in the end it really doesn't mater as much as it seems now)

I'll wait for this version to be 20.00 before I pay for it --- maybe even 15.00. What is the point? The answer is --- nothing...other than to say " Yeah dude --- I got it on the PS3 hah hah hah!
Hey what ever. Its like your paying full price for an old game, just like those who shelled out 50.00 for DarkStar 1 on the 360 when you could have gotten it on the PC for 5.00
