In the trailer we see our sexy sexy sexy hero Hawke smudge himself with red.

Image IPB

So is it war paint, blood of the fallen king, or tomato sauce?

But it would be neat if we could have war paint as a customization then having permanent face tattoos.

Blood because it's way more badass and you don't have to carry it around in your pocket.

And yeah, don't cross out the sexy. Garrett is a sexy beast.

Warpaint would be easier to use as you would need some good, thick blood or constant applications of blood to get that solid of a red on one's face.

Maybe warpaint made with blood in the mixture?

Because I still feel giggly about it. I have watched the trailer about over twenty times during the past two days.

But okay.... Hawke is a sexy sexy sexy beast who I want to be my damn love interest in DA2! There I said it.

I'm going with blood, mostly because I like the idea default Hawke is a blood mage. However I have noticed it in all the screenshots as well, so that has made me doubt it's anything other than a stylistic thing. I'm very curious as to whether it's optional or not actually, I'm guessing it'll be like the tatoo's in Origins? Unless it does turn out to have more significance than just cosmetic.

I bet we'll be able to do some kind of facial paint during character creation.

Yeahhhh, you're not alone on that one. <3

Would be a neat little addition to the character creation - bloody war paint instead of tats. I would be allll about that.

I think the Qunari he's fighting is a Hannibal Lecter style canniibal and was goading Hawke about how he was going to consume him with fava beans and fine chianti, at which point Hawke then incenses the Qunari by smothering himself in tomato sauce and a can of fanta.

Good to see that the OP -so far- hasn't done something like the Bethany Boobage thread that was locked, kudos.

Back on topic, I believe it is blood

But if its blood do you think it is used as a fear symbol, that it can boast his powers or that he just accidentally smeared it on himself?

You know now we need Old Spice and Bioware to combine and make a sexy commercial for DA2

Blood... as it shows him using blood magic later on in the trailer. Hawke is a Blood Mage/Arcane Warrior.

Varric would be the spokesman.

"The chest hair your man could smell like."
