A few friends have convinced me to download some mods for DA. I've never downloaded mods for PC games before aside from a few for the Sims and Morrowind. A friend tried to help me but it appears I lack the necessary files/folders to be able to download them.
I am unsure just as to -where- to unzip the files to. Whenever I extract, Jzip goes bazonkers and tells me I have no manifest file.
I've read guides from mod authors and the pathways they have written doen I just don't seem to have for some reason.
I also don't have a DAupdater and don't know how or where to get one. I know it was released by Bioware but have yet to find it on this site. Is there some sort of official patch I'm missing?
I'm just unsure what I'm doing wrong. Probably some newb mistake.

If you've downloaded a .dazip, you don't have to unzip it yourself, DAupdater will do it for you. If you've dowloaded a .zip with a .dazip inside it, just unzip it anywhere, and then browse to the .dazip with DAupdater.
DAupdater is part of the base game, and should be in your Dragon Age directory, wherever that is on your hard-drive. There should be a bin_ship directory with daupdater.exe - just double-click daupdater.exe and you'll be away. Worst comes to worst just try searching your hard drive for "daupdater"
While this is easy when you know, it's not at all obvious and you shouldn't feel silly for not knowing it. There's a reason why mod authors are writing guides to do this and including instructions in our readmes :<
Note that I'm not sure this process is exactly the same with a Steam version or Mac.

I was able to figure out. Didn't know that daupdater was an .exe file so I was trying to, um, ha, extract files to it.
Now I'm trying to mess around with morphs. I can barely wrap my mind around all this....
Lots of patience required. heheh. v_v
Thank you for the reply, by the way. I know these questions are a dime a dozen.
