"The combat in Dragon Age 2 looks to cater to the visceral combat lusted by the action-loving gamers currently buying up shooters and slaughter-fests on consoles, while still keeping true to the slow-paced strategy that drives many of the PC's top titles"

Can only imagine what the griefers will say

A nice little tidbit mentioned in the preview was that a big focus of the story will be on death and family.  I guess we

are going to lose some siblings.  Thats good, because when you played as a human noble in

DA:O, your family died, but we really didnt learn much about them so we couldnt feel for them when they died.

Hopefully bioware will give us a chance to feel a little more attachment to the npc siblings, and then kill them off.

Wow. So we know who lives past Lothering.

The half-hour of gameplay we were able to observe drove the point home,
as the escape from the main character's homeland came at the price of
the death of his brother, as well as the forced killing of his
neighbor's husband.

So we keep Bethany and Aveline then?
I guessing we need to kill off her Templar husband because he is tainted.

HA! I called it in another thread. The newly widowed wife will also be a L.I. I bet, like in BG2.

I'll go read the article now....

Edit: Should probably mention there are spoilers in the original post, just saying... even if it is just the very beginning.

Spoilers already- wonderful. Yeah, that widowed wife is seeming like Jaheira 2.0.

I really, really wish these previews would highlight the differences between the PC and console versions though. They mention the command wheel for the consoles but nothing about how it plays on the PC...*sigh*

Somebody wake me when they actually show some PC gameplay...

Man, they're just rolling out the previews, huh? I hope this one shows some new info.

Personally, I'm waiting for some website to put up a video of the gameplay. I want to see how this thing plays.

There have been many words spent on combat without much being said...is the game hack and slash now or what?

No. As the 1UP preview mentions that the combat remains pretty much the same on PC, just everything hits harder and the companions react faster.
So, it's Dragon Age Origins, but sped up a bit.

Sweeet. I hated the fact I never got the chance to kill Khalid in BG2 and I hate DragonAge's templars so...win-win!

The IGN review does have something on the differences as does this preview:

Nice- I hadn't seen the Games Radar one- good find!

Thats probably one of the better previews I've read thus far- its actually informative!

The games radar piece is the best written preview so far IMHO.

I'll miss the extreme low angle a little. It was great for dramatic screenshot-taking.

Also the spoiler was seriously no surprise to me.

We don't know yet. Maybe it is. Only gameplay vids will tell us that.

I practically called it the moment I found out we had a brother and the Templar was injured. I mean, that wasn't obvious at all or anything, hahah.
