How are they gonna come up with a male LI that's hotter? This is an important factor.
It's easy. They just need to give Alistair some Jacob dialogue and Duncan's beard.

All of the nose, all of the beard, none of the personality!
Exactly what I want in a man.

I can get behind this thread. Even if it's a joke.
It's actually not a joke.
Yeah it's totally not a joke.
About Alistair: that's something I loved about him too. I love the jokey options in the rose convo especially. He's awesome.

Unless it's the Oghren "I am no longer okay with teasing!" kind, where everyone takes offense to light jokes. One of the reasons I liked Alistair was, so long as you weren't being particularly cruel, he was okay with teasing.
Shale: Give me an order.
Warden: Fine, attack Alistair.
Alistair: Hey!
Alistair disapproves.
Only by one point, no biggie.
Even when I romance Alistair, I can't help but choose that line. The way he says it is priceless.
Wait a second. *Mental image of a shirtless Hawake and Alistair in the same room.*
Please excuse me. I have something I need to do. *Drools*

They can't.
It goes both ways, though - Guys can't romance Bethany. The world is cruel and unfair.

ICarth.
Carth Syndrome is bad, though. Any romance that has some sort of Carth Syndrome is.. you don't feel "number one" in that person's life but simply a replacement.
Or so I'm told.

Ohhh, I love Carth. He is sweet and adorkable. I'm just dead tired of the trope, is all. I'm fairly certain it's in the majority of BioWare games with a love interest available. I'm ready for a new character story, yanno?

Meh, I don't know. I liked the Carth romance. It wasn't my favourite ever, obviously, but I still liked it.

...
Anomen - dead sister, proposes to you with her ring
Aarin Gand - killed his girlfriend
Valen - dead girlfriend, but pretty much over it
Carth - dead wife, disaffected kid
Sky - dead wife, dead daughter, a little schizo about it ("they're dead; let's bang! ha ha I'm roguish!")
Kaidan - compares you with Rana, and his whole personality was altered with her rejection
Zevran - killed his girlfriend, angsts
Thane - dead wife, disaffected kid
We have seen it. We have seen it more than enough.

Please Bioware, please dont add another obvious buddy cliche?
EDIT: Also, proving how awesome Hawke is: He caught every last single one of those buggers.

As I said on the "Hawke = Daniel Farady thread," I will be playing default Hawke because he is pretty and I would rather look at him and make googly eyes, then play a female PC who makes googly eyes at other male characters. With a guy this good-looking, who needs LIs.
Me! I still need LIs. But I'll play default Hawke on a different playthrough and create a lovely man-harem party. <3

Urgh, Alistair. Maybe its just me but by the time we got to Lothering I wanted to kill him and run away into teh wilds with Morrigan. And I liked the guy at first! He was my bro! But then he got all whiney and his jokes just werent funny anymore.
Please Bioware, please dont add another obvious buddy cliche?
Almost everyone likes him though, so they didn't do as bad as you think. I'd probably say he's the most popular male LI BioWare has ever done.
