Waitwaitwaitwait. He has freckles? I think is cute, but I didn't see any freckles.
WITNESS THE GLORY OF THE FRECKLES!!!!!!111 Well, it could just be flecks of dirt, but... I hope not, because how adorable is that? Freckles! They give him character.

That post...was full of Wynne.
I
agree on pretty much all points. Especially the "Garrett is an adult's
idea of cool". I think Bioware is pretty good at that on the whole.
*gawks* Okay, that was seriously an
epic pun!
Thanks, that gave me quite a grin.
I definitely think Bioware is great at that sort of thing, but after the use of Marilyn Manson and 30 Seconds to Mars I was wincing--it felt to me like they were trying a bit too hard to be hip and missing the mark in the process. Not so this time around. I've got nothing but kudos for them. They really didn't do a thing wrong with that trailer; I felt like I did after I watched Inception--like everyone who worked on it knew the meaning of the word "synergy." Awesome.

It's not "full plate to be acceptable".
It's "something other than leather maybe even full plate because we
rarely ever see that in female warriors". But yeah, even if I dislike
the costume she's wearing in Centurion and don't want to play as a
warrior dressed like her, at least she's covered, I wasn't trying to
imply she's the worst looking warrior ever, just not what I personally
like. I leave the worst warrior design ever to everyone on Google images
when I try to look up female warriors :x
Mostly everything I
want for my male warriors is the opposite of what I want for my female
warriors. Stereotypical beefy male = no thanks, stereotypical beautiful
half naked chick = no thanks even harder. Which is why I like the
default male Hawke, he doesn't look like he's been doing steroids and is
about to join the cast of GoW (Gears of War AND God of War).
*lol* Yeah, Google searches for that are really, really sad. You drown in a sea of chainmail bikinis and makeup. In defense of Centurion, though,
the trailer has Etain's army in the same getup as her--the men are also wearing furs, unlike the heavily-armored Roman soldiers they're fighting. And in
stark contrast with a lot of stuff out there, this is subverted hard by the number of scenes in this trailer alone where you see her with a nasty-looking bloodied nose. Somebody definitely hit her in the face, and yet she soldiers on--she looks like all it did was ****** her off more. Props for that much, at least.
But I see your point. While it's cool for the movie, I want to be able to dress my LadyHawke in badass armor and make her look mean and strong and paint her face with Nutella just the same as any other Hawke, and I definitely want my warrior LadyHawke to at least have some visible muscle on her. I want her to look like she could wallop me if I talked back to her, and while I'd like her to be attractive I don't want her to look like one of those delicate doe-eyed flowers folks were talking about. So far, though,
this screenshot looks fairly promising. Unless I'm mistaken, she has some visible muscle tone.
And I, too, love Garrett for not being Kratos. Seriously, Kratos is precisely who I was thinking of earlier when I mentioned an insecure male teenager's idea of what a man should be, looks like he did a lot of steroids, and that douchey sex minigame I saw in youtube videos. A protagonist like that is not the type who could impress me.

I'm
in total agreement with all your points. Women want him and men want
to be him, heck, even women want to be him - I know I'll be going
through the game at least a few times as Garrett Hawke (too bad I can't
romance myself ... or can I?!).
What's great is that this trailer makes us take an interest in Hawke, the character, who is he, what is he, would he mind terribly if I smeared Nutella on him?
*grins & hugs* We are definitely on the same page! This:

is actually how I learned of the Destiny trailer, thanks to Yukidama's signature. Calla S. really captured the conflicting feeling of being a female Hawke fan.

It's like, I want to see him in a love scene--but unless I
really like his LI, I'm gonna want to punch the Nutella right out of her hand! Like, don't even think about touching my Garrett, you floozy!

I put the long quote below, but
I wanted to say that your description hits it pretty close on the
proverbial nailhead for me as well. I couldn't have said it any
better!
Thank you.

@Wynne :Thank you for expressing why
Hawke is awesome with such nice logic and elaboration.
Maybe the next
time some Hawke hater asks this question I can direct them to this
post.
I'd be honored if you did.

Thanks!

Unbelievable. The game was just announced a month or two ago and already Hawke is the new Alistair!
Ohhh, no. See, Alistair is the type of guy who doesn't know what he wants, the kind who doesn't have enough life experience to really know that sort of thing. So a lot of women had their hearts ripped out by him, one way or another.
Garrett Hawke isn't the kind of man who does that. Look in his eyes and you'll see it. He has the maturity and the depth of character to sweep a broken-hearted Alistair refugee off her feet and make her forget what letter his name starts with. Alistair's name, that is. No one forgets any part of Garrett's name. (Especially not if he's a rogue, heheh.)
