I liked Cailan, foolhardy maybe, but a good man man none the less.

I agree. He was a good guy and probably one of the few characters with a moral core similar to one we share in our modern world. Sure he was a lecher but I doubt there was any love in his relationship with Anora from the get go.

He's only real fault was being mind blowingly annoying. Jesus, mate, you know how you get your name put down in the history books? By revamping the tax system or strengthing the military or setting about a wave of reforms that push your nation into the modern or improving the roads and trade networks or centralizing your gov't so that your military might is no longer dependant on the whims of local lords. You don't have to ride off in a suit of glittering armor atop a white stead into the middle of a horde of unfeeling monsters.

A lecher? Anora was/is/seemed barren; with no heir, his kingdom was in trouble. It kind of made sense for kings to look for another to conceive his heir. Sucks that he was cheating (or was at least thinking about it), but he was the king with the legendary bloodline. I think he should be allowed a pass on that for reasons of governing; Anora would do the same if she was him.

However, he was a bit annoying for being the king. The history texts will note that his failed frontal assault on the enemy horde was glorious. He should have flanked the enemy like the helpful hints said in the loading screen. Have Loghain be the bait.

I can understand letting Loghain lead the charge. The purpose of bait is to draw the enemy out so you'd need the biggest 'prize' there. The attacking force needs to know what they're doing down to the detail so it'd have to be left for someone with Loghain's experience/talent.

As it turned out for our foolish king however, not his best choice...

Translation: Cailan died due to his own stupidity. He was like that one kid who wanted to be a hero, but he failed gloriously. :wizard:

What can I say? I have a feeling this 'Garrett Hawke' fellow is going places. I have this sneaky suspicion that if I stick with him (maybe record what he gets upto for the next ten years or so) it might lead to good things down the road.

Vaughn is just one of those . . . universally hated characters isn't he?

Probably the only redeeming quality about him is that he has better hygiene than most. So, pretty hard to like the guy or even just be neutral toward him.

As I recall, his teeth are just as brown as everyone else.

It's because he brushed his teeths (theets?) with Nutella.

this is my theory for hawke and flemmeth (feel free to discuss it, support it or ram it into the ground :P) :

we're assuming that morrigan was the first woman that attempted the dark ritual, at least for the people that chose that path. what if and this is a big if, hawke's ancestor was one of those "old god babies" the old soul passed through father/mother to son/daughter but its power was still sealed as an effect of the dark ritual. what flemmeth does in this case, is not give him/her power but unlocking it.

why now and why hawke? perhaps flemmeth has been waiting for a specific time but for what reason i don't know

I'm hoping Hawke was actually a baker prior to the burning of Lothering. Flemeth just wants him to deliver a cake and some cookies. Nutella filled cookies.

Hawke is not a God Baby, I think the Devs said that. He's a "regular" guy who rises to power through his own skill.

And that's one of the things that appeals to me most about him.

I think a lot of people really underestimate Cailan. He had enormous potential, but his wife had quite the iron grip on politics as his father did before he was lost at sea. It's a rather steep learning curve, after all. If you're playing a City Elf, he mentions tearing down the walls of the Alienage, which is a sure sign that he's interested in change and helping his people. All of them, not just the humans. Just because he grew up hearing stories about his ancestors and the Grey Wardens, leading to his being a glory-seeker and wannabe adventurer doesn't make him annoying or a poor leader. He was young and foolish, yes, but if he hadn't died in that battle, he had untapped potential. Just like Maric.

I "interrogated" one of my watchers at devART when she commented on my shirtless Hawke drawing and said something about his VO being hot. And she said it does sound like Vaughan's VA.

Did she hear him at ComicCon or at Gamescom? (I also find Bramhill's voice hot, so...)

Must agree with you on Cailan Being a good leader even though stories deluded him and shining armour just paints you a target as ''Oh i'm king look at me look at me shoot me with arrows kill me!!!!!!!''
