Ok, been at gamescom yesterday, and ofcause played DA2.
I played the PC version, since I played DAO on the pc as well.

First I was sceptical about the new action orientated combat they introduced, but after testing it for my self I've been quite surprised, cause it actually played pretty good. The fast responsive gameplay and the fluid animations gives you quite the 'Whoa' effect. It's more focused towards action but the hotkeys still remain, which gives you more an evolved kinda DAO combat gameplay.

I was also quite sceptical about the dialogue wheel, and my fears have become true. It's crap to put it bluntly. Now instead of going the mass effect way of picking the path of the 'upper' goody shoes, or the 'middle' neutral, or the 'lower' madcat dialogue options all the way through the game.
We now can choose to run the game through as either 'upper' goody shoes, 'middle' sarcastic dudle, 'lower' grumpy smurf.
It's more a personality choice now rather then a karma choice if you compare it to mass effect.
So don't expect much RPG quality choices like in DAO.

Well, it's still an early demo, so I guess you can take this with a small grain of salt.
But so far the combat looks great and the dialogue crap.

your review is negative, expect a lot of flaming for not saying that "game is crap but I KNOW it's just an alpha build so it's going to be awesome because Laidlaw said so"

If people posts a negative review and people says "oh you are a troll, since we know it's just in early stages of development and it's going to be great" what's the point in asking for the people's impressions first? what's the point if it's so alpha that people is going to dislike it?

I can't agree with the graphics comment at all. The only reason most consoles games are even close to their PC version in visuals is b/c PC got a cheap poorly made port.  Plus some devs do ignore 1 or even 2 of the other markets. If the game has fun core mechanics & is just well rounded overall it will sell. Examples being most of the work Blizzard & Valve have done. Yes Valve still touches on consoles but I doubt they need to with PC sales.
My entire point is DA II looks very interesting & I think it will be a good game just not even close to the level that DA:O reached. The new ME2 rip off communication-dialogue system will destroy DA II from the start. It won't make it a bad game but it will make it impossible to reach the same depth as DA:O. I am not a fan of the bright-cartoony-anime ary style but I will have to learn to like it. Entire point being they have changed too much. KotOR is one of my favorite games of all time along with BG II & Morrowind. None of those titles had voice overs for the main characterc b/c real gamers( pc gamers yeah i just said that lol) have a little thing called imagination & don't need a bunch of disc space being wasted with voice overs that drastically limit the dialogue options. It is a shame how much less of an RPG DA II will be compared to the first but this is what the majority of "gamers" want today. MW2, constant remakes that feel just like mW2, a new madden every year that is the same game but they still buy, & RPGs that play themselves involving as little reading or thinking as possible.
   We'll always have DA:O!!!!

Blizzard has the WoW cash cow and the only game they have done since years is Starcraft 2 which, being an RST, doesn't lend itself well to consoles. While it is selling great it pales in comparison to the biggest console hits.

Only the obvious stuff even magazines in their respective previews didn't get quite right.
Stuff that is in fact discussed with Devs non-stop up to this point just look at the massive threads around here.

Again, they have done almost nothing in years with the exception of Left for Dead (and the Orange Box compilation prior to that) and that is selling like hotcakes on the consoles.

I disagree with you about player character voice overs. Making your character an active participant in dialogs (instead of the silent protagonist) is a good thing. It does not necessarily lead to limited dialog options or a lesser RPG and preferring it has nothing to do with a lack of imagination or IQ. Games are an audio visual medium, if you wanna imagine things read a book.

Do you have something on your eyes? Bright, cartoony, anime art style? That's not what i see when i look at screenshots for DA2.

PC gamers being the real gamers? A joke.

The above mentality is why developers increasingly cater to simplified gameplay. Baby steps folks, baby steps.

Again, there's nothing simplifying about giving your character a voiceover. I just don't get my panties in a bunch because i made up a voice in my mind beforehand and the char in the game is not matching that to a T.

mw2 sales are a rare case.
Usually console games don't sell so much.
In the end mw2 is a multiplatform game and sales include pc....

The same goes for PC games, usually they don't sell as much as Starcraft 2.

As for including PC sales, fine, then take GTA4 which wasn't released on the PC at that time, which sold 3.6m in one day, or Halo 3, which sold 1.7m in one day just on the XBox 360 3 years ago.

Some people like playing multiplayer. Some people spent more on it than the hardcore RPG players spend on DAO. Not me, mind you.

For some, the advertising and popularity value of a game matters more than actual gameplay. The kind that needs to be always on the newest coolest thing.

Given the woe's that plague MW2 since lanuch; that's a lot of people.

Who cares which platform sells the most? The Wii makes a killing and that doesn't mean I think the games are worth my time, or nearly as interesting as those on pc or the Xbox.

Witcher is the only big hit I can think of without a big marketing campaign of those listed, or having behind a big established audience. And even then the books are quite popular in some european countries, so there was people waiting for it first day.

But games now are like movies, they go for the first month big sales and then seem to forget it for the next one. And trailers always lie...

Solica, try to learn enough of the game to make your own mind BEFORE buying it.

The cream doesn't always rise to the top. Thats why movies like 'Twilight' do so well. And why would you defend this? You must know crap games can sell like hotcakes so what is your point?

The people who decide were money goes usually don´t care about the bussiness beyond getting money from it.

My point was that consoles are where the big bucks are, which is why companies are making them the priority. Had you read my posts you would have known what my point is.
