My fiancé who is at Gamescom at the moment said that LadyHawke wasn't playable in the demo. He could see her but not play her. Unfortunately he didn't realise how much I wanted to know everything about her so he only glanced at her. I would love to give you a description, but the best he could do was "pretty much the same as maleHawke, only no beard" and "short hair, I think". Vague much...Em23 wrote...

That's it, this game will suck.

That's just disappointing as all hell. I thought Hawke was the name of the beard.

He doesn't post here, but a guy I chat with a lot on another forum got to play it at GamesCom and told me what he thought. He said the combat felt just like Origins but with more action-gamey flash or flare.
Well at least they didn't totally Mass Effect it. Wondering if the male and female equivilents of Hawke have any customization options at all looks wise. Doubt it as that would prolly cost too many precious zots or whatever. <_<

I also don't like that they are making it out that there is no exploration. Just map/hub then combat... rinse repeat.
Sounds like origins, so no huge shock for me.

Yes. Flowing world good. Individual hubs bad.
But I didn't think they were going to do anything different in regards to that that they did for DA:O?

I don't like the sound of that either. I don't mind that Hawke is voiced, I don't mind that we're forced to play as a human, I don't mind the conversation wheel, but if this game is basically an easy mode version of DMC, then I'm done with Bioware.

A few questions please:Tekbear wrote...
With Butter i actually meant The goryness of it. The battles Are definitely more Action But it didn't feel all diablo. I think they Found The Perfect Way in The Middle - at least for my Taste. I loves origins - it is still my favourite RPG, but at some Points i felt that you had to Pause Combat too often which disturbed The Game Flow for me. Now it feels à Lot smoother.
-What system did you play in?
-Had you to hit buttons for each strike?
I loved micromanaging the combat:unsure:.

I may be mistaken but I believe that this demo is one of Varric's exaggerations and thats why you can cut enemies 'like butter' but the other parts of the game won't be so buttery.

I've just play Dragon Age 2 at the gamescom (PC Version) and to be honest, I'm very dissapointed. I wasn't able to scroll out with the mousewheel and so I haven't had the feeling of a tactical based combat system. It was more like hack'n'slay because a lot of hurlocs appeared in the first stage and so I striked them down with my sword (played the male hawke). The dialogue wheel isn't annoying, at least that's my opinion. Unfortunately the first stage took place in the area we know all from the screenshots (I fought against the ogre and a lot of hurlocs you guys already have seen in the first screenshots), so I can't say a lot about the graphics. What I can say is, that I'm not happy with the environment graphics. It looks really poor. The characters are well designed, but the environment looks really low. I hope you guys from bioware will do something about it even if you said you want to put the focus on the characters.
So that's all for now. Greetings from the north of Germany,
Uncle
PS: I believe in Bioware, cause the games I've played so far were really good. I'm very afraid that Dragon Age 2 (PC) will only be a better looking rip off of the console version

Which, in and of itself, is causing some issues with previews I think. Too many people (including journalists who should know better) play that part and mention it in their previews as if that is how the main part of the game is like, when it is just Varric doing his thing.
Even when you can tell the previewer played the part that is more "normal", the start of the article is still written as if to say the entire game is a gore-fest with you felling 10 enemies with one blow. It is sometimes rather annoying to see "journalists" mislead their readers so much (either through poor writing, or ignorance, or intentionally).

P.S. I am talking about game journalism previews, not Uncle's post.

I thought the Gamespot preview (gamescom.gamespot.com/story/6273910/dragon-age-ii-updated-hands-on/) gave a good explanation of this.

It just seems overly confusing for events which deal with a wide range of people who are usually trying to play through as fast as possible and move on. *shrugs*
