OP, I aggree completely on the terms of EA-quality-downgrading.

I hope for god's sake, that BioWare will somehow be not entirely corrupted by EA.
We see signs as the half-bakened appearance of Conrad Verner who insists on being treated by a renegade-shepard, even if you where all-thru paragon.
I liked ME2 so far, although it mostly served as a sequel to ME1 to deepen the insight into the me-universe.
Also it was more shooter-based than RPG, which kinda adds to the mainstream-stuff EA want's to crap(rather than bring) out.
Though I liked the new Armor-Design, I was a bit disappointed of the small impact the boni made on the game-play.
Alltogether the game was able to stand up to the ME1-legacy, but disappointed a bit in terms of RPG-gameplay and some small design-flaws like minimum-impact of Feros on the ME-world.

I'm happy so far that the good dialouges and many character-oppinions stood up to the ME1-legacy, but rather worried that EA will ruin this series as it did with C&C.

So, if anyone from EA or BioWare reporting to EA reads this, as someone who played both games and saw your fingers lurk through the design like you did in other games, I'd like to suggest something:
EA, if you really want to make money, get out of the BioWare-studio as fast as possible.
The only things EA should add to the game are:
-the annoying unskippable EA-logo at the beginning
-some EA-departments in the credits
Everything between this two parts should be in the hands of BioWare, BioWare and no one else but BioWare.
They had enough success to make some of the EA-guys decide to buy them up, let it be a symbiotic business, rather than sucking the money out of the studio.

oh so i guess Mass Effect 2 selling more than Mass Effect 1 is ruining the franchise its called expanding the audience of a franchise. Mass Effect 2 is the better game it has the better game play mechanics even biotics in Mass Effect 2 are better.

Now, I will agree ME2 defiantly ups the gameplay and graphics, but ME1 completly destroys ME2 in characters and Story.

a game can have the best story and characters all it wants but if a game sucks like crap at one part of its core game play mechanics then its not that good of a game at all. the shooting in Mass Effect 1 was complete crap and from playing it is as a soldier and as a adept even the biotics in ME 1 suck.  too many game news sites and gamers just bow down and kiss the butt the ground Mass Effect 1 walks on. but yet those same game news sites will crap and ****** all over any other game that has bad game play. If Mass Effect 1 had some other developer's name on the box it would have been totally crapped on. But oh it has Bioware's name on it so it has to be good because of their past games.

As much as I don't want to admit it, this is true. I mean personally the gameplay mechanics in ME1 were almost as bad as Alpha Protocol in terms of shooting and moving, and that's not great, however, I do think that everything good about ME1 was brilliant indeed.

But I sincerely hope the ME3 won't let us down. Just think ME2 gameplay with ME1 story/characters/rpg elements and we have pure gold there.

ME2 was leaps and bounds ahead in graphics, gameplay, and well fun.

ME1 beats it into the dirt in terms of story, companions, and scope. The ending in one, is far better than in two.

However saying "It sold more, must be better" is exactly what is wrong with EA. IF Mass Effect 3 is some GOW/Halo clone, that sells better than it would be crap to me, and many people.
