The selection screen you pointed out is the class & gender screen. 3 classes (as with DAO) and you can see Hawke (and Ms Hawke). For the demo, only Male Warrior is unlocked however.

I guessed it. Woot what do I get?

You mean beyond at least some glimpses of gameplay at an event where pictures/video by anyone is banned?

How about a virtual inflatable sword!  or a cookie.

Possibly a sword cookie. Posted Image

Can it be an oatmeal inflatable sword cookie? :innocent:

I really appreciate the effort you folks made to invite us in.

However, slightly better camera placement would have made it a more enjoyable experience.

Thanks again,

The reaction so far from people who played it is that the characters looked OK but the scenery looks very poor.

Sounds good! Appreciate the effort you guys have made, it's better than not seeing anything. Although, if you had the camera on the wall at the back we might get a better view of those screens? :P:innocent:

I don't suppose anyone from Bioware knows if they will be at Eurogamer in the UK in October?

It's supposed to look poor because..well that's what Bioware thinks gamers wants, It's "stylised" you see.. not just poor graphics - it's style!

Yeah....maybe its just the demo level that has the boring, bland environments? The whole stylized thing only gets you so far in my book...

For whoever wrote the info that appears on the webcam: The formatting is off and it disappears off the edge of the screen.

Alright so I feel a little bit weird watching dudes in Germany play videogames. Do they know they're being broadcast? Lol...

I wish I could see what's onscreen better.

But I think the simple backgrounds and environments goes beyond just the Blightlands- they've said in interviews how they want the focus on the foreground and the characters and as such, the environments and backgrounds will be quite austere and sparse with greater use of negative space so as to not distract from the foreground.

Just my self avowed PC fanboy speculation, but it seems a way to try and up the fidelity of the characters at the expense of the environments to fit things in on the consoles...

Back to the stream- is it just me or does it seem that the PC version no longer has the portraits on the upper left side but rather some health bars on the lower left? Thats not cool if thats the case- the portraits worked great on the PC version of Origins....

Yeah, that is a high probability.

But I have yet to see other areas than the blight-lands and two screens, one showing Kirkwall (or at least a city with white buildings) and one showing a grassy knoll. I'll wait until I see more until I judge.

But I'm okay with if they remove a little bit of the foreground for better backdrops, something that DAO sorely lacked.

I very much doubt the environments will be bland due to console limitations or somesuch. Consoles might not have the power of a pc but they are far from unable to render both good looking character models and attractive scenery, I think patience is called for until we actually get to see an area of DA2 that isn't called the Blightlands and isn't rediculously early footage.

As for the UI, that could be worrying I suppose but considering how many revisions the ME2 UI went through I wouldn't be overly concerned just yet. I loved the portraits in Origins too, so I hope they return. There certainly seems little reason to ditch them in favour of purely having health/stamina bars.

it'd be a lot easier to see the teeny tiny screens if people would stop standing right in front of the bloody camera...
