As for the UI, that could be worrying I suppose but considering how many revisions the ME2 UI went through I wouldn't be overly concerned just yet. I loved the portraits in Origins too, so I hope they return. There certainly seems little reason to ditch them in favour of purely having health/stamina bars.

The UI for the PC version was solid. I hope they don't try to minimalize and streamline it like so many games try to do. It works for some games like Dead Space where they integrate the UI into the actual gameplay, but more often than not the desire to make the UI less obstructive just makes it more frustrating to see necessary info, I think.  IMO, the ME2 UI for the PC was ridiculous- the goofy little floating heads in the center of the screen? Meh.

The portraits in the upper left worked well, and besides, if they moved that info down low, whats to become of the hotbar?

As for the stream, is it just me or are there a ton of cutscenes? It seems like cutscene- combat-cutscene-combat. Hopefully thats just because its the opening of the game, but I hope the whole thing isn't like ME2 where its just jumping from area to area where the combat showing up is painfiully obvious.

I agree, the minimalist UI works well for some games but really wouldn't fit in with Dragon Age, even on the console versions. The only time you wouldn't want the UI being all over the screen is during conversations and cinematic moments, and it disappears then anyway!

It's too hard to tell watching it this way (for me) I would optimistically suggest it is purely because it is one of the opening 'scenes' and is presumably quite a fast paced encounter anyway (escaping Darkspawn). The scene I saw towards the end of the demo where they meet Flemeth and someone is dead seemed suitable paced, but obviously that itself was a 'conversation' of sorts. In fact it might just be the more cinematic conversations that add to the feeling of too many cutscenes, they aren't supposed to be as static anymore?

Quick! They have moved the camera to look at the main stage! Must be a coming up to a presentation by Mike or something. :D

The feed is dead at the moment but they confirmed it would be Mike Laidlaw giving a presentation on Twitter. Hopefully they get it back up and running before he finishes...

Feed's back up. Looks like it's happening right now.

That little interview didn't reveal anything we didn't know yet. So, don't worry if you missed it.

I don't think the selection screen is the party selection

The selection screen shows 6 characters, so it's probably like in KOTOR: Male Warrior, Male Rogue, Male Mage, Female Warrior, Female Rogue, Female Mage

Whenever we get a decent shot, people cry and moan for something better and then the camera fan plays with it to screw with them.

Am I the only one that's getting a huge kick out of the camera antics? It's really very entertaining.

Well I sure have learned loads about DA2 today! Apparently its all in shaky cam and has an infatuation with ceilings!

SOLD!

Come on camera guy- just a little lower and zoom in on that monitor...ugh...At least we know they have wheelchair accessable bathrooms!

Gotta love how he left the very top of the one screen we could properly see something in visible, just to rub it in...

Can't they put the camera right next to ONE monitor ?

It did seem that way lol. They probably can't zoom in any further and he was getting annoyed at everyone constantly asking for it. Still, there was a lot of unecessary fiddling with the angle from the get go!
