Most of us hate flame wars. But when a certain group comes into a certain thread to bait, flame, and derail said topic. Who is to blame? Those defending said thread or the ones coming in derailing it?

As has been said before, it's most likely that the anti-Tali fans have nothing against her, but rather her fanbase. As a fan of Tali myself, I also believe that sometimes the lengths to which some fans like Tali is a bit odd. The fact that they are easily angered sadly makes them easy targets for trolls, too.

Yep, when I saw it had been locked I lmao for a good 10 minutes, and I then proceeded to listen to the song "Sweet Victory", because it feels as though a great enemy has been defeated. Huzzah!

Why not just let the trolls and spammers attack the Talimancers. They will be engaged in a giant war, that will attract the trolls and Talimancers into a single concentrated thread, no need to surf around the forums as the moral police, just let all the troublemakers concentrate in one specific area

So that thread becomes, what 4chan is to the internet ? Fine. Keeps trouble from me.

I'm mildly amused (and perplexed) at what's going on in this thread. The OP asked a simple, innocent question; how many people actually answered it?



Look at what so many of you are doing. Condemning the fanbase through broad generalization, acting as though a "great victory" has been won. What makes you so superior to the Tali fanbase? What gives you the right to use every Tali-related topic as a staging ground to tear both her and her fanbase apart?



I'll be the first to admit that Tali's fanbase has its share of fantatics and due to the popularity of the character, said fanatics are more visible than with other characters. You'll find the same thing with any fandom. What most people don't realize or simply didn't care enough to discover is that 80% of the Tali thread was populated with intelligent, well-meaning people who didn't cause any trouble. Of course, due to the outspoken few, the entire fanbase has had its image tainted and it's now seen as a good thing when something bad happens to them.



This thread, a thread with a completely innocent question, has become a flame-war; a site to proclaim victory against the "evil Talimancers!"



It's a sad thing to see that an entire fanbase has been pushed into "exile" due to a few off-topic posts while trolling and hatred are given free range.

It's a shame it got shut down, but I'd say the developers and moderators on this forum have a right do with it what they want, and nobody, nobody should ever have to take on the mantle of maintaining order in a thread of that size and that level of fanaticism. I fear for old Woo's soul.

Moderators are supposed to be impartial. You're a Tali fan, and I've seen Tali fans get upset at me for simply saying I don't like Tali all that much. Honestly I'd rather not be banned for not accepting her as my messiah.

You say the hate on Tali doesn't make much sense, and true enough actually "hating" any fictional character doesn't make much sense, but I'd say there are plenty of reasons not to like her, and if it makes you angry that someone will voice these reasons then PLEASE OH GOD DON'T GIVE HIM MODERATOR POWERS. However, I'd never actually go into a Tali thread and announce that I don't like her; there's no need to disturb the religious sanctum.

You're ignorant if you believed that thread could've been saved, it had been locked and dealt with multiple times and you'd pretty much need full day moderators to deal with that thread alone. Saying he was wrong after dozens of warnings and threats is like putting your hand on the stove a dozen times, saying it hurts but then saying your mother was wrong when she turned it off.

This hate on Tali doesn't make sense...Neither does any hate trolls and haters are immature punks who need to be quiet. Oh relax, will you? You're already acting self-righteous. I edited my previous post, but that'll probably just upset you more. I did like the fact that I made no mention of "trolls" in my previous post, yet you're saying the people I'm talking about (the people who don't like Tali) are "trolls" that you would charitably not "come down like a righteous hammer" upon. I know that probably wasn't your intention, though, so please don't have another cry about it.
Up the page you talk about the hate not making any sense, and then imply that anyone who does are hate trolls, haters and immature punks. True enough, but does that opinion extend to simple dislike of a character? If so, then I don't want you as a moderator. Even despite that, I don't want you as a moderator considering how hypersensitive you are about people's opinion on the internet. There is no need to get so upset over something so small.
