I'm sorry but no item is worth registering an account in a social network.

Absolutely true. No friend got me there and even less will a company achieve this.

While I do have a facebook account in order to keep tabs with friends I really despise this trend towards centralisation. I have noticed how youtube is trying to interconnect with facebook as well. I can understand why some people may like having everything in one place, but web privacy is a growing concern and I am deeply worried about the amount of information being collected by facebook as it is with out boundaries on how they use it. Bioware, I can understand you want the advertising from peoples facebook profiles saying "xxx likes Dragonage 2", but I think that in order to receive the newsletter this is going a bit far.  If you want to give the DLC reward in exchange for the advertising, then disconnect the two elements please.  Where have the days where you just put in your e-mail for information gone?

Sign up, "like" and then cancel the account. Takes 2 minutes.

Ok, we do hear you that some of you do not want to register for Facebook just for the item, no matter how cool it is.

As such, we will extend the offer to those of you here without Facebook accounts. If you go to the Dragon Age site here: http://dragonage.bioware.com/ and sign up for the newsletter (which, sine you are DA fans anyways, I hope you all do even without the cool item reward) you will get the in game item.

I'd just like to say that asking people to sign up to Facebook for a shiny item is a really bad idea, abd whoever thought of it should feel bad. Those of us who have no interest in Facebook and signed up for it just for this item are likely never going to use it again. Now the fine folks in marketing or whoever cares about this think they have more followers on Facebook, but the number of new followers they have is misleading. Hundreds (maybe thousands) of the people currently liking the DA page are actually not following it at all. So all this has resulted in, is the annoyance of hundreds of people, and misleading data for whoever is responsible for managing BioWare's Facebook page.

Hurray for Bioware being reasonable and catering to the desires of the audience (Because I don't have any intention of ever using Facebook either :P ). Appreciate it, guys! I hadn't even heard about the newsletter until this... Should be good! :D

You guys pay more attention to the community that just about any other developer out there that I've seen. Keep up the fantastic work!

Nevermind, I found a way around it. I unliked and then liked the page, then googled the Dragon Age Newsletter and it was among the first results. Signed up and got my confirmation e-mail right away. I don't know if the unlike and like process is necessary, but I went through with that bit anyway because I want my items.

Sorry, I'm a bit of a loot ****.

I did this and finally got it to work, it just takes a while to get the confirmation email.

Just one thing, we get the item no matter how we sign up for the newsletter just as long as we do it within the set amount of time right. lol just making sureImage IPB

Uh, these codes will work for PC and consoles... right? -_-

I've recently switched systems (PC to PS3), and have encountered one guy on Facebook who says he isn't able to "sign up" for the newsletter -- it asks for his Xbox/PSN name but he plays on PC. :|

Yes, the codes will work on PC, Xbox 360 or PS3.

If you do not see the newsletter sign up box, you have signed up for the newsletter previously. YOu will still get the item.
