Just how epic is this item? Off to the merchant, something for the equip screen (for either the PC or companion)...? Early game, late game, whole game...

curious myself when in game will it be available (timeline in total hours played)

I'm sorry but no item is worth registering an account in a social network.

THIS is a social network.  It says so right in the banner.  Look up.  Way up.  There it is.

BioWare SocialNetwork.  Right there.

Ok, we do hear you that some of you do not want to register for Facebook just for the item, no matter how cool it is.

As such, we will extend the offer to those of you here without Facebook accounts. If you go to the Dragon Age site here: http://dragonage.bioware.com/ and sign up for the newsletter (which, sine you are DA fans anyways, I hope you all do even without the cool item reward) you will get the in game item.

Why didn't you just do that in the first place?  Even I know that a good sum of people don't like facebook.

The item was never tied to Facebook.  How could they possibly find out whether a BioWare or EA user account was associated with a particular Facebook account?

It was always just the newsletter.  They just wanted more Facebook clicks.

I had to open the bioware site in IE instead of Google Chrome to see the option to sign up.

Is there anyway it can be added/shown in our list of promos (like with our DA:O, ME2 items) so that we know we are safe?

Just to check, i signed up throught the DA2 website uisng my hotmail email. Does this mean the code will be sent there? I signed up once it was announced you could use the DA2 website to receive the code, and recieved the message telling me that my account had been updated, but when i checked again earlier after reading posts in this thread, the option to sign up appeared again.

So i subscribed again to the newsletter and recieved the same update message, but when i checked back again just to make sure the option to sign up is gone. Does this mean im now subscribed and will recieve the code and newsletter?

You can't buy DLCs with Achievement points, you have to buy Bioware points instead(for real money).

So, I signed up for the newsletter last time and haven't gotten anything in my email related to dragon age 2 at all.The newsletter signup thing isn't there so I assume I'm signed up for it. Is this normal? (And no, before you ask, there's nothing in my junk folders.)

Same here. Any info would be helpful.

Same here as well, so you guys arent alone.

I had the same problem so I investigated a little. In the box for the email address it says something about an EA ID. Unsure if my BSN account had something to with this ominous EA ID or  if I had to create an EA account too, I started looking around a little and found this page: profile.ea.com/login.do. I put in my email address for the BSN and it said that I never confirmed my email address to be valid. I let them resent the confirmation mail, and after confirming my email address everything worked out just fine.

How many news letters has there been? as I signed up ages back for the news letter and liked on FB but never gotten any news letters about DA2, or is it just the usual EA newsletter that comes? yes, I'm confused

Meh, signed up for the newsletter as well, but still have not gotten anything. Did ofcourse do the whole like thing on FB.  Im not too worried about it. If it comes it comes, im sure they will have other chances to get gear in game, through pre-orders and other ways. Just like they did with DA:O and Journeys.

Fyi Gaxhung im none of the described facebook "males". I use it to keep in touch with my family as well as friends. Go preach your crap stereotypes elsewhere.

Are any of you using MSN Hotmail? I'm using it and I haven't recieved anything either. Admittedly, it's a complete shot in the dark, but I'm trying to figure out if I should consider that a problem.

You can add me to the list as well though I'm using Yahoo Mail.  I registered for this when it was first announced and never received anything.  I re-registered again when this was announced again (and when people had mentioned they were receiving the newsletter) and still nothing.  Haven't received anything in the spam folder either (I keep looking) so I'm not sure if I am on there or not (I'd like to think so since I received other offers like who I'd want to go with me in ME2 and announcements of sales but nothing DA2).

Thanks.

Ditto as well for yahoo mail , but I did receive my email about my purchases, so I know the store side email works.

Same as the other people, signed up a while back(with hotmail) and I have not gotten any newsletter or any confirmation(sigined up again yesterday) email that I signed up to the newsletter, and as the above person I do have gotten emails from bioware whenever I buy dlc so it works to get emails from bioware.

Is the number of codes they give away still limited? I read something about 50.000 codes, so compared to about 133.000 facebook followers it is a fair chance of ca. 1:3 to get an item presumed all followers are subscribers to the newsletter as well.

I think it might be a case of first come first served. And I signed up and like DA2 on facebook long before they said about the in-game weapon so fingers crossed I get a code lol.

Oh and StarMarine how did you get Hawke as your display pic?
