I found the same complaints on Valve boards over Left4Dead2. Some people considered it only an expansion pack, while others said it would be an unpolished peice of garbage. Some said it would basically be the same game, just with different textures, and a few more features.

Regardless of how much snark I could get for this response, I will say how I feel.

Left 4 Dead 2 was literally, figuratively, and creatively better than Left 4 Dead 1 in everyway.

Well, aside from the female player character.

On topic, it's got plenty of time. DA:O was actually finished in March 2009, DA2 will be released in March 2011. Two years difference between the two, which is plenty of time to make a sequel.

Easier said than done.

The competition is out there and better use the DA hype while it lasts.

Man I like a marketing freak.

I can agree that waiting might lead to improoving but I'm kinda anxious to explore more DA land and stories to say that out loud.

Modern Warfare 2 came out two years after the first one and it sucked.

Considering the development time and new voice acting mechanism I am preparing myself for a short game.

Yep, be nowhere near as polished as a Blizzard game.
Also attempting to chop game up across platforms with mish-mesh mentality because people bought it on the console and ruined it as a series, thanks for that.

Of course, maybe you will get your wish and after TOR comes out we will not see DA3 or any other future IPs until the year 2020.

I don't make the game I just play the rules.
Time waits for no man.

Nobody cares.

And nobody cares what you have to say either. So what was the point of even responding?

DA 2 has been in development for quite a while now. It's not like Bioware waited three weeks after DA:O came out and then went "huh, people seem to like it, maybe do a sequel, mmkay"?

Call of Duty franchise tend to alternate and sell for profit. It went (starting from COD2) Infinity Ward > Treyarch > Infinity Ward > Treyarch > Infinity Ward, though they were rushed to make MW2 to meet deadline and weren't able to test the online and the single player's story was a mess.

Well, if you're considering that they're using similar tools to what used to build DA:O then they're not rushing it, they didn't have to build a world from scratch, a lot of things were already there, any sequel always takes less time to make than the original if you decide to use the same tech you used to build the first one, are they rushing it? yes to some, no to others and the only thing to decide is the game's success or failure due to an un-polished state for example.

werd.  If they can be more efficient and release more good games faster, great.

For sure.  If those are fun, people will continue to buy them.  If not, they won't.

I found it perfectly fine. While I didn't love Awakening as much as a lot of the fanbase, it was a decent playthrough and had interesting characters. How is it milking the fanbase if they release extra content for those who loved the game? It's just DLC.

Pretty much. No one really knows how long they've been making the game. It took Bioware a long time to even make Dragon Age. I remember when it was first announced then nothing every came to fruition. I thought it was going to be a cancelled product and then real news of the game came out. They could have been making DA2 around the same time as DAO for all we know.

@Mecha Tengu  - I could always lace them with something. ~Shrug~

All the pictures and previews I've seen so far seem very positive. It seems they haven't changed the gameplay that much, just polished it and made it more awesome, so I guess they saved some time there. At the stage the game already looks great, and they still have like 7 months left, which is much considering that Origins was released like 9 months ago. The main thing I'm worried about is the length, but then again, I'd rather have more frequent games than really lengthy games like the original DA.
