Isn't that a romance specific line? I swear that I've never gotten that one since I don't proposition him. 

Yeah it's a romance specific line (which sucks), but the sentiment is still there whether or not you romance him.

But how is it? If I don't romance him, how am I going to know this? 

And this is one part where I think BW really failed a bunch of the characters. If you don't romance them, you're left to fill in the blanks. 

True, I probably had an easier time of interpreting his character because I romanced him on my first ME2 runthrough which makes the things he does make more sense on subsequant files because I remember the conversations. I hope BW fixes this in ME3, so that I can have a platonic relationship with a character and don't miss important conversations.

Okie dokie. Would you have preferred if I lied? I strongly dislike Garrus so my langauge was perfect. I wasn't trolling or trying to incite anyone's anger. I was merely being honest.

I don't hate Garrus, but I understand why people don't like him (and yes, many don't. Same for any character.)



I felt like his ME2 incarnation was trying too hard. Too snarky. It did annoy me that his LM was yet another revenge mission, and defaulting him back to renegade was sort of cheap of the game to do, even if it was due to logical limitations. It gives the impression that he has no character development because he does the same thing over and over again, especially if you *did* renegade him in ME1.



I think it would have been more interesting if his loyalty had involved something personal that wasn't revenge. And what about his father? Duty? His deviance as a turian re: the hierarchy, etc? He's not normal for a turian, but people forget that. He needed some kind of foil.



He also had too little conversations, and his constant "Just like old times, Shepard!" comments got on my brother's nerves (lol.)



Some people strongly disagree with Garrus' philosophy of justice.



Some people think his skillsets suck.



Some people think he is ugly.



Some people grow to hate the character because of how big and vocal his fanbase is; overexposure.



Some people dislike his character shift. Some people dislike that your treatment of him does not carry over. Some people dislike that he is required.



People can and do dislike him for a number of reasons, both in-depth and shallow, just like any other team mate.

(I'm not talking Gay romance but best friends stuff.) Helping out Jack
with her baggae and getting her head on straigth wiht out the paragon
romance.  I guess I just wanted more, "friends" dialogue from everyone. Each seemed too short.  I'd say Tali romance in # of
convo's would be cool for everyone. (By that I'm counting, all her
talks fro mrecruitment and into LM and LI. IIRC she has the most.)

The whole Tali self thing has me confused because you make her out to be the most selfish character in the way to "attack her" and point to the only one time that she ever asks for yo uto do soemthing for her.  as proof she's Evil level selfish.

I didn't say she was the most selfish character, nor did I say that she was evil. I'm saying that she puts her personal interests (her father's reputation, her personal pilgrimage quest) before the law. That's selfish behavior. 

I'm not attacking her; I'm stating what I've seen. She has a disregard for the law and that's why I don't like her or Garrus.

I'm not going to read this whole thread because.. Well, I'm lazy. So I don't know if this was posted already. But someone on the first page brought up a survey, the results of which I happened to bookmark: http://www.kwiksurve...b285d9ff&mode=4



Granted, 1049 responses is a rather small sample size in comparison to all the people who bought the game, but it seems to be one of the biggest we've seen. And of that, 90% of people either chose 'like' or 'really like' to describe the character. 12% were neutral. Only 3% of one thousand people either disliked or outright hated the character. They exist, but Garrus has a ridiculous majority in his favor. He's definitely not as polarizing as Tali, it seems.



He also had 798 out of 1049 people say they wanted him back for ME3. This makes me happy. :3

Sorry, The Tali thing was aimed at Myst not you Fort. I don't really thing she has a disreguard for the law in general I think she just is tired of the law never sticking up for her and her people. (Just look at the Lai incident.) So she's just sick and tired and will do whats right for her people and her. I think a "douchebag renegade" Shepard break way more laws then she ever did.

I think that Tali is so polarizing because of the Tali maniacs, not the character herself. Say if Garrus was "cut" from ME 3, many people would be mad; however, if Tali were "cut", there would be a Bioware massacre.
