I don't like Garrus. He's my least favorite squadmate.

I find it strange that people make assumptions just from general trends. It's kind of silly to assume that a character is universally liked just because they're popular.

Garrus does appeal to most people. While no character from any series is universally accepted, just look at who is in ME 2 from ME 1's party; Tali and Garrus. Sorry, Kaidan Alenko.

Again, I said it's silly to assume that *everyone* likes a character just because they're popular.

I like garrus for who he is, not becuase hes popular.

I didn't say that. The assumption that there's nobody that dislikes him and everyone loves him is silly, which was the premise of the OP.

True. But most of us garrus fans like him because of his character and personality, not just because hes popular.

And I really think a mod should lock this before it gets out of hand.

...and that has nothing to do with the fact that Kaidan can die on Virmire<_<

Even if he lives, he is barely in ME 2; I actually liked him and wish he had a greater role in this game.

No. Its more like "I'm pissed off that these people are able to get away with these horrible crimes and I want to fight back."

Hes not a serial killer going on a rampage killing random people walking down the street. He thought he had a sense of duty to protect the well being of the people living on Omega. And since there is no system of law or justice in omega he wanted to make a difference there.

He definitely sounds like a serial killer on a rampage, what with his "All I have to do is point and shoot" type dialogue.

A lot of serial killers feel they are right in killing their victims. Maybe Garrus is delusional as well as reckless.

You can also finish the game without recruiting Garrus :)

I know, but the arguement "everyone loves Tali and Garrus...Garrus and Tali are in ME2" is ridiculous.

Wrex was THE fan favorite in ME1 (he won the "Best Sidekick of the Year" award from Official Xbox Magazine if ME wiki is right^_^)...cameo land
Why? Virmire...

No offense but have you ever thought the reason why he turned down Spectre training and C-SEC to lead an offensive was not just because of his ego but because he was just clearly pissed off at everything thats happened in his life?

Think about it. He has a ****ty relationship with his father. He wanted to make a real difference in the galaxy by joining shepard. Shepard is pretty much his mentor and possibly his only true friend hes had in a while. And after helping saving the galaxy all of a sudden his best mentor/friend gets blown out of oblivion and the council was "dismissing" everything shepard had fought for. How wouldn't that ****** him off? So basically he went to Omega and was angry about how some of the good people there were being treated so he decided to fight back.

And no he doesn't just "kill people he disagrees with." He kills people because they are dirtbag criminals themselves.

Wow. So you think "I'm so angry! I'm going to go kill people!!!" is better than "I'm really good at killing people; I should go kill some people with a group of friends!"?

He thinks those people are "dirtbag criminals". He thinks so without even meeting them. Maybe he had a story or two about some of the gangs' exploits, but that doesn't make his journey to kill them any more stupid of an idea. Both of those motivations are shallow, reckless, and stupid.

No. Its more like "I'm pissed off that these people are able to get away with these horrible crimes and I want to fight back."

I don't think he/she is a fan of Batman and anyone who hates Garrus is a fool :innocent:.

Again - Garrus is a Turian. He's an *alien*. Turians reason differently than humans.

I see no reason to start bashing another character just to support Garrus.

Kaidan Alenko was one of my favorite characters from ME, beside Liara and Garrus. Sad that he didn't have a good role in ME 2.Image IPB I haven't dealt well with his dismissalImage IPB

Your taking that line out of context. When he says "All I have to do is point and shoot" hes basically talking about how Omega is literally overrun with criminals. He was there trying to protect regular people from those who wanted to hurt them.

I'd also like to point out that it's extremely likely that popularity didn't determine who was a returning squadmate in ME2. Liara was and still is incredibly popular and was cut from the game. She was a good candidate for a squadmate because she couldn't die and had to be recruited in all games. The devs have been quoted as saying that they saved the VS and Liara for ME3 and that they'll be in the game and that they can't say the same for the ME2 squadmates. Wrex was conspicuously absent from that quote.

So, popularity isn't a key factor. They've got something planned and we'll have to wait until ME3 to see what it is.

He was also there killing regular people who got swept up in the involvement, as seen by the young mercenary kid who joined up for the wrong reasons.

Yeah, maybe he shouldn't have joined up, but he was young and foolish and just a regular guy chasing glory, no different from Garrus himself. And now he's dead because Garrus pointed and shot at what he thought was a witless idiot.

We are waiting for Lair of the Shadow Broker. Maybe she was so popular that Bioware felt that they needed to charge extra for her!Image IPB

Ok, put yourself in his position. All of the mercenary and criminal organizations team up to take you down. To get extra help they decide to put a bounty on your head to hire freelancers. Those freelancers want to kill you just for the money, despite what type of person you are. What would you do? Just let them shoot you repeatedly or fight back?

Nah, I always break the kid's gun. I was just using him as an example.

Garrus goes into Omega and creates a huge fiasco. He should have known the depths to which these gangs would sink in stopping him.

He created these problems and he is directly responsible for the consequences of his actions. He shows no remorse. He just gets angry that someone betrayed him and swears revenge.

He created that situation and does nothing but spout off one-liners when he kills them. It's a testament to his arrogance and recklessness. He didn't have much of a plan in assaulting Omega, and he doesn't really care about the people there.

If he did then maybe he would have put more thought into his assault.

I've backed up every point I've made. I'm not just a simple "hater".

I hate Garrus for who he is, not because he's popular and I'm "full of hate".
