Am I the only one who feels like game-makers these days are really milking their customers?

I find it rather dispicable that Bioware made DA:O and released it along with DLC that costs extra money. I can see this as acceptable if they made the DLC after the game release, but it seems like the DLC should have been part of the game anyways. I feel cheated when they basically made the game, then blocked part of the game out and make you pay extra money for it. Basically what they have done is charged you $25.00 more than the base game just to get all the content they made for the game. So the actual cost of the 'full' game is $75.00.... that's kind of ridiculous.

Furthermore, the bioware points system is ridiculous. It's exactly the same as the Microsoft points. It's also annoying because they charge some specific amount of points for each DLC, so you may end up with points you don't even need, or not enough points and you have to pay more money to get a few points. DA:O DLC is an example. one of the DLC's costs 1200 points (~$15.00), the other costs 560 points (bit more than $5.00). I bought the 1600 point package for $20.00. I spent 1200 points for one of the DLC's and now I am left with 400 bioware points. So now in order to get the other DLC I have to go back and buy more points than I need, the minimum to buy is 500...

Yes, the game is very good, no question about that. But these game developers are obviously milking the crap out of us...

I agree with the points argument, but not the milking. Unless you bought the game used then you got the Blood Dragon Armor and Stone Prisoner for free anyways. Warden's Keep is slightly overpriced, in my opinion, but still reasonable.

Its not that bad.

I agree, because the DLC doesnt live up to the standards the main game sets. The DLCs feel like some crap they threw together for a quick buck. When they produce quality DLCs that border on mini expansion packs, then I'll think better of it. But as it stands, Mass Effect got garbage DLC, and Dragon Age seems to be following that trend.

Its a real shame too because both of those base games are exceptionally well made. I wish Bioware would FIRE their DLC team and replace them with people who know how to make good DLC. Then Bioware would be the Perfect Company.

Its a bit Ironic, Bethesda makes crap games but their DLCs are pretty top notch.

What are you talking about Blood Dragon Armor and Stone Prisoner? I just had to buy that. I bought the game brand new the day it was released.

ummm it's not the developers...it's the evil ...err...swell ea producers that have instigated the convoluted point scheme.

You had to buy Blood Dragon Armour and Stone Prisoner? They are free if you buy a new copy. You just have to enter the code you got for them.

Yep, I just bought the standard downloadable version from d2d and got Blood Dragon Armor, Stone Prisoner, Dalish Promise Ring and Memory Band included.

Blood Dragon Armor and Stone Prisoner are OK, but Warden's Keep was blatant false advertising and fell far short of its true potential. It really should have replaced the camp once done.

but if you play as a dwarf apparently you cannot keep the lucky stone ring or the blood armor for long enough to use them!!! :(

And yet another "Omg Bioware/EA are so greedy" DLC whining thread.

It's quite simple. If you do not like the DLCs, don't buy/play them. See? Simple huh.

Either way, there is no need for the whining.

You can. You just have to make sure you've logged out and turned off DLC during the origin.

I am totally against paid DLCs or something similar in any kind of game. I support expansions and free content made by comunity. If we dont whine now, or at least give our opinion we will finish paying everytime we breath and this is not just about videogames, every industry is doing the same right now.

Warden's Keep kinda seems like false advertising. I think whining is fine. We are PAYING customers. We can whine if we want to.

I feel like I'm the only one who realizes that the DLC is entirely optional. Yes, BioWare made more content for the game than was present in the final product. No, there's nothing forcing you to buy it. Do you want it? Okay, then either be willing to pay for it or accept that you won't have it - a lot of things in life are like that. I don't think it's a milking scheme at all. They offer a product for money, you choose whether or not to buy it. Simple as that.

I can only hope that these threads will eventually die. It seems like there's a new one every time I check the boards. Sheesh.

Could you explain how it's false advertising?  They said "Here's some DLC, here's what it contains, here's the price."  How is that false advertising?  As for being paying customers and therefore having the right to whine, most of the whining threads and comments I see are from people saying that they're not going to pay for anything.  If someone doesn't feel they got their money's worth, then I've no issue with that, but it's the complaining about paid DLC even existing that's getting really old.

We know it's optional and all. We know we don't have to pay for it and we aren't going to, but we just expected better. I like the DLC scheme and I want to be able to download and pay for quality content but so far stuff like Warden's Keep has been dissapointing. Not due to it's lack of quality but due to it's price and it being advertised as something it's not. The developers told us it would be 2+ hours long and for nearly everyone it's like 30 minutes at most.

Then don't play/buy it. Whether you choose to buy/play it, or not, neither choice requires running to the forums and whining.

One could also try doing their homework on a DLC before buying it. Image IPB

I agree with OP. If I had known I would spend more cash getting the DLC, then I would have just bought the CE. BTW, imo the blood dragon armor looks like crap. Is there a helm that goes with it? Cause on every site it shows a helmet with it.

i think some people consider it "false" because, when you buy it, iirc, you're not actually downloading anything, you're just unlocking it. in other words, it's on the install, it's with you're disks, prolly why the npc is in your camp even if you dont have it.

If you don't like the discussion, don't click on the topic and instigate.

Oh, and how the hell is someone supposed to know if they like the DLC's? You have to play them to know if you like them or not, and you have to buy them to play them, don't you?

I'm a bit confused. I bought the game on my steam account and have no blood dragon armor or stone prisoner content. In fact, I just bought bioware points and spent them on the stone prisoner DLC... If I already had it, why would they let me buy it again? They need to make this stuff more clear. Now I want me extra perks, since I bought the damn game the day it was released..

Seriously get over yourself and stop whining, its always your choice to buy content or not,you paid 7 bucks for a around 45mins extra content,i pay more than that daily at a fast food restaurant, kids are way to spoiled these days.

If you bought it on Steam you have a product key tab under properties. For that matter, if you had hit Shift+Tab it would have brought them up the first time you entered the game. In point of fact, it nags you about this the first time you start it up. One of the codes registers the game on this site, the others when put in the redeem code box give you your DLCs.
