Thanks, but that was just one example of my main point, really.

It's a fine name, I just can't think of a good reason for it to be the default name instead of "Marian."  Of course, this is coming from someone who plans to choose her own name, anyway.

I'll probably have something like ten different characters anyway, all with different names, of course! Playing Dragon Age is like eating Ruffles... You have to play through more than once! But, my first Hawke will be Etain.

I'm only basing this off of my first playthrough of DA:O, where the game was still brand new and I had no clue what would happen...

I was on the goody-two shoes side. Except for the quest with Connor... I let Lady Isolde sacrifice herself in Jowan's ritual, because she seemed to want it so badly. I didn't realize that I could go to the Circle to ask for help.

So I imagine my first play through for DA2 will be the same wayy. I tend to do the morally right thing, but, you never know what can happen.

My first Hawke is looking likely to be a warrior or rogue heavily influenced by the Chasind barbarians of the region Lothering is in. I probably will end up going with Etain as a name now as well, although I tend to have a list of character names by the time the game comes out. I almost always play my first character purely by ear responding to everything with my own voice and moral compass. So most likely it will be a somewhat wild, wise cracking reluctant hero who almost always does the right thing in the end.

These characters aren't always without their dark sides though, I remember my first Origins character ended up siding with Morrigan and killed Wynne at the Mages Tower. Needless to say I was most amused when I came on the forums after and saw everyone saying how easy Wynne made the game...

Other than that I'm waiting for more info to come out before I finalise it much more.

I always go with a Paladin first. Followed by an " I pretend to be bad, but I´m actually good deep inside" kind of character. xD Yeah, lame, I know..

I want mine to be strong and probably a bit ruthless and pragmatic but I also want her to have a wicked sense of humor. I think she'll be my more sarcastic/aggressive character whereas I'll probably play my male Hawke as a more paladin/good type.

Well, with the advent of the personality tracker, and icon, I think I may actually go for "snarky and cold" this time around, since I can be more sure how I'll behave. If I don't like people's reactions to my cold ****iness, I'll change.

My Hawke will be a sarcastic woman who knows she's a bad ass and when complimented would go: "Yeah, I know."

She'll physically have some traits as me too, haha. Hair colour, eyes, etc.

Fem!Hawke will be named either Alma, Marian, or Dallas. Hawke grew up as the oldest (I'm gonna ignore the canon if Bethany is older, lol) who likes to solve problems with her fists when words aren't enough. Growing up with a younger and prettier sister with magical talents left Hawke somewhat self-conscious and jealous. Hawke went off to become much closer with her brother in her earlier years, but she eventually reconciled with her sister and came to neutral grounds with her. Hawke grew to be a bit of a stick in the mud; stubborn and a kill-joy.

Despite all this, Hawke is somewhat noble and strives to keep her mind at the same level as her physique.

She will be an apostate mage,have a huge sense of humor and make sarcastic remarks probably 50%(or more) of the time. She's also very emotional.She expresses what she thinks and feels most of the time. If she is angry with you she with rant and deffinitely tell you right to your face how she feels.She has a good heart and tries to do what is right,but she is also able to make the tough decisions.She has her own motives too.I think I'll name her Jade :3

Okay, well here's the spoiler. Don't say I didn't warn you!



Hawke has a younger brother named Carver, and also Mother Hawke. Hawke, Carver, Bethany, and Mom all leave Lothering. BTW, Bethany is an Apostate Mage. Carver dies early on. You also get a female warrior companion named Aveline, along with her husband who is a templar, but since your sister is an apostate... Well, let's just say that the templar dies. You're either forced to kill him, or leave it to Aveline. This was all from a magazine where the author was allowed to play the game.
