Yay for speculation! While I'm here I'll go with Hawke being the middle sibling, Bethany the oldest. Would mean if you -are- faced with a decision as to whether to follow her when she wages war on the Chantry as some have speculated, that as her younger sibling Hawke would have a degree of hero worship that could make things interesting.

.. but if Bethany is older than Hawke, I can't be the big brother if she finds and romances somebody through the years. :(

You can still do that. It just won't be very impressive.

Beeing a bi late to the topic (and having not read all the 40 pages before), it would have been refreshing if Bioware had made the female Hawke the official one instead of the male one they always seem to do.

There is a thread talking about that aspect here social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/141/index/4541721/1 and Bioware has given their 2 cents on why in that.
Yes a lot of us would of liked to of seen a female selling it but they have to shake the money maker to those that are not yet into DA.

Bu-but it's just the truth! It'd be like Chicken Hawk(e) trying to get in a fight with Foghorn Leghorn.

True that. If you can spread Nutella all over your face and still look badass, everything you'll do will look impressive.

I hate to say this but I'm imagining if they ever advertised a female character over a male one, they'd focus on sex appeal over how badass she is. Sex appeal seems to sell more with female protagonist.

WHat is with people and age?
Why does it matter?
Why does it make it less impressive.

I have to admit I never even considered that Garret (ahem)Marion wouldn't be the eldest sibling.  Probably because I am the eldest child in my family.

But then my little sister didn't need my help defending herself.  She dated (and ended up marrying) a cowboy, and learned how to handle them on her own.

It could be fun to play the stereotype.

One wouldnt need to exclude teh other, and I have nothign agasint sexapeal, but I'm with you, it's pretty boring when that's all the female characters in games are focused on.

I'm thinking along the lines of huge breasts, plate bra and panties and sexually suggestive poses whenever possible like most games tend to do when advertising with a female character.

Yeah they could market sex appeal with out Busty McBuster but the idea of sex appeal would come down to what age they are targeting. Busty McBuster in a chainmail Bikini would appeal to the younger males while something a bit more sophisticated would appeal to the older ones maybe along the lines of Kate Bekinsale's character in Van Helsing (But on that note she still has an impressive clevage in her costume).

Edit: Nix the bust thing, yes she has it but it's covered so it leaves a bit more to the imagination which is nice. Why can't they do a costume like that? sexy with out their bare puppies hanging out?

Yeah Kate Beckinsale and her character were two of the better things that came out of that movie. Other than the comedy of course. It was a comedy right?

I'd definitely support some roguish outfits like hers though. Leather is all fine and well, but there is no point debating the realism of whether wearing this or that would get you killed in a sword fight when you have Dragon's setting fire to your face. In situations like that we might as well look good while we get toasted I say.

And like pr0n magazines and Cosmopolitan. They know who they want their audience to be though. I'm not sure if most of the game industry does.

It could of been a comedy and I wouldn't know as I was doing the sad thing thinking how can so much leather look so good on one man and...yeah..............Hugh...leather...kickass...*ahem*

Yes she did have a good costume :) I would LOVE to see something like that for the female rogues!

First example I can think of would be;

And that's the main characters sister. I'm hoping DA2 won't go the same way with Hawke's. :P
