I'm not so sure--Hawke seems to use it as some sort of power-up, and it's present in all of the screenshots. I really doubt preset Hawke has a smear of red paint on him all of the time. I mean, if he does, that's pretty awkward, but I don't think we'll know until we see a CC or a screenshot that's not in combat.

Found this artwork while browsing Russian fantasy web-sites. I think that's pretty much what Lady Hawke is for me. Strong woman, yet the one not afraid to show her vulnerable side.

Here is my over-fem hawke, it doesn't look like a part of DA anymore tsk, struggled to show boobs AND make it look part of DA, so I gave up on that and drew whatever "armor" that came to mind instead.
