I thought the Dalish Keeper Lanaya was cute as well.

She was, and on top of that I loved her character.  Good for her that she overcame such a sad background to become a First (and in some games, a Keeper).

Cold hearted? Definately. Look if Alistair would have backed me for the new King I would have went that route, and had any chic in Ferelden, but that wasn't an option Alistair couldn't put his friend first. I could see him plotting in the corner about me doing all the hard work while he becomes king while PRETENDING the whole time not to want it...Yea'.

I just going to add my two cents into this thread, but I think what bioware should once they reveal lady hawke is change the poster art of the game. They should make one side of Hawke man and the other woman or make then a equal in size. This would let the fans of the world know that you can be two different genders and it would make people probably happy along with the ladies. We live in a world of both genders. I would hate to have nothing, but sausage fests. Make have of hawke male and have the other half female, but make it a like a line between them. ONce they reveal the concept art for the game. ONe of you talented artist out their should show them how its done and split the two with the magazine image and make bioware bow their heads in shame.

If people don't know enough about the game to know you can make a female or male character, a poster with a female and male hawke isn't going to suddenly inform them they CAN choose their sex. For all they know, it could be Hawke's sister!

Like having Grunt in the Mass Effect 2 cover... people aren't gonna assume they can play as a Krogan, and the other character is another companion. Shepard on the other hand, they would have surely seen in commercials, and put it together that he is the main character.

And putting a female hawke in the trailers isn't going to solve the problem, as having a "face" is a legit business strategy.

They would need to literally spell it out to have the casual gamer know they can make a female or male character.

People like to sit around in a forum and say "I know best this, I know best that." Bottom line is most of the time they DON'T know best. Or are at least ignorant of the little things that make seemingly simple things more complex then the seem. People go to college to study advertisement. I'm sure EA's advertisement department contains a few people who've STUDIED this. EA and Bioware are filthy rich and highly successfull so obviously the advertisment department is doing a damn good job.

I've worked in a store and I sell to customers everyday. I have gone to college and guess what. You give your customers what they want with great service and they will come back to you every time. If you show the fact that their is a lady hawke on the front cover it shows woman, Bioware is finally thinking outside the box. Besides if you see a woman wearing hawkes armor how are you going to think thats his sister.????? No wait you aren't!Posted ImagePosted Image

No but that would be one boreing *** poster/advertisement/box cover...

A guy and a girl, in the same damn armor... it MIGHT get the point across you can play male/female to a few customers, but I also think it would be far less attractive than, say, male hawke and his colorfull cast of followers decorating the ground with Darkspawn guts. You don't want two character wearing the same freggin thing when you want to grab people's attention.

Putting both sexes on some adverstisment poster or even worse THE COVER ART is hardly thinking "outside the box"... sick of people saying it is. It's not some crazy whacky risky new idea.  Honestly putting the same character, but both sexes, on some advertisment picture just seems stupid to me. Waste of space to get a point across to the very few that read into it.

MUCH more effective to me is just a little blurb on the back of the box saying you can play as male/female and customise your character.

Some concept art would be cool, they managed to finally have their default male lead actually look attractive, be intresting to see if they put as much effort into Lady Hawke.

I found FemShep and shepard defaults equally unattractive in ME.

When I did female the best results I found were red head, and looked alot like Alice from Resident Evil.

Indeed, although creating a femShep also proved to be really limiting given the horrible preset shapes and lack of adjustment options.

Also you couldn't turn your custom charactor to look at them in profile, only in game during her first conversation did I discover that she actually looked like a moose. Posted Image

But DA2 will have all the customization options of DA:O (and maybe more?), so if default lady hawke look horrible I'm sure we will be able to remake her in many beautiful and sexy variations.

At least Mike Laidlaw said something about a toolset being in the works. Though it'll be up to the community to provide alternate skin textures, hair styles, eyes, brows, etc.

Seems like people got our thread mixed up with the DA2 marketing appeal to females thread. Hmm.

Developed Bishop...?
*Pulls out a shotgun and loads it* Protect Lady Hawke!

Does anyone not remember having to be pure EVIL w/ him? Did he get any farther then "Drink, screw, and fight," outside of mods? (Well, I can't say much. My poor, poor, poor, poor West Harbor girl liked the ranger FAR better then the *annoyingcreepy* paladin).

Can't we just have a practical, decent, quiet and stoic guy? *cough*waitIforgotwegotthatinAwakeningwejustcouldnotromancehimwhichwasabsolutebull*coughcough*.

Oi! That's why I said properly developed. :P He was left hanging... there was much that could be done. Admittedly, I wasn't a fan of the SUPAR EVUL or the lechery, buuuut, he had potential to grow... he was a mirror... a contrast of sorts to what could happen to someone that grew up in the swamps without the same guidance and support the PC had (even if the PC was evil). When he got serious, he got serious. There was no you-trieds or "close!" You either had it, could do it, or didn't and couldn't. And he respected that distinction, and acknowledged the epic of the PC in that way.

WAIT. THIS THREAD HAD A TOPIC. I almost forgot.

In any case, it's not that I care about female marketing or whatever. I just want to see Lady Hawke. See what the female variant would be of Mr. Goodbeard. I already know I get fair treatment if I play a female character (as in, she is done justice). As for others.... It will sell well regardless of what's on the cover, and through word of mouth, BW's name will get around. So I don't care about that. I just want to see her.

Part of the issue is also that I'm getting attached to Default Male Hawke, for some reason. I don't want to get too attached. I like my first playthrough being my long-time PC Ellistine. :3 Seeing more Hawkes will help me focus on making MY Hawke and not Default Hawke. If that makes any sense. :/

**off topic** Bishop, because he was so underdeveloped and, frankly, a strawman, was never attractive on any level to me. However, outing myself as that woman who played her little cousins JRPG games because he was doing it wrong leads me to say this, I really want a Leon from Kingdom Hearts. I can even live without the leather pants and the quadrillion belts, but a strong, sexy man with a sense of duty who likes kids and has great hair and a dead sexy voice he only uses when necessary? Yes please.

Back on topic, my desire to see Lady Hawke isn't because I don't trust Bioware, I know she exists, I just really, really want to see how they envision her. Besides that, I very much want to see her hair and her armour. Especially her armour. Also, I'd like to see Bioware's marketing overcome this aversion to showing their female versions of the PC, but that's for the other thread.

All the awesome fanart makes me want to break out my bamboo fun and try to suck less at it. I think I'll just admire the pretty art other people send this way instead.

Well, we seem to have been mistaken for some slightly unhinged (in a friendly, non violent way) conspiracy theory group who didn't believe the devs when they said there will be a L'Hawke. Just wanted to clear that up. Besides, I honestly do not get why we cannot see the female PC, I find it honestly bizzar. Boything even agrees, as he reads over my shoulder, so obviously, as you, Dave and a few others proove, this is not just a hoard of obsessed fangurls.

There's the pretty art I mentioned! I quite like the first one you've posted, the game is not even out yet and I've developed a preference for L'Hawke with shorter hair.

Well, people who were at gamescon mentioned that in demo you could see female Hawke model on class/sex selection screen, but couldn't select it.
