I think Aimo has it right. (You're very talented.)

The parts of the game released to the public are Varric's... creative 'improving' of the Hawke story, and I can definately see him enlarging certain...

I need some screenshots of the other companions so I can stop objectifying a character who's supposed to be my sister. (Sorry Beth, I can't help it.)

Mike Laidlaw said Lady Hawke's so hot she's capable of melting butter from across the room. I imagine Marian will be a bit more wild and not as feminine as Bethany is, but still very beautiful. Plus, we can make her look however we like.

Bwahhh, I hope so! Feral!Lady!Hawke for me, please. Epic.

>.> I really, really hope Varric's just embellishing.

And yes, aimo, as usual: YES.

I...um, maybe that's just her? Because...from experience, her back would hurt like nuts after a fight in anything heavey. Heck, it probably hurts anyway. On a slightly less befuddled and horrified note, at least the new non-commisioned mages robes aren't quite as s***y anymore. And they come with chainmail.

Don't know much about medieval armor but, shouldn't the chainmail be protecting the -erm- chest? as well as the rest of the torso?

No need.  Judging from that pic nothing's getting past the padding to hit her vital organs.

Haha, Aimo! <3

I really do hope it is embellishment on Varric's part. Though it does make me seriously wonder why such a rather small part of the game (Varric's story embellishment) is given a whole new model/body for Bethany. That seems like some wasted time and zots on a rather small part of the game, and for a 'joke.'

Unless, of course, the female model for the game comes with a boob slider hard-wired into the chargen. :|

I wonder if Varric's 'embellishment' will include Lady Hawke as well, running around with huge watermelons. I admit that I would be irritated.

All this boob talk on the forums is making me really start to wonder about what default Lady Hawke's... proportions... are going to look like... (Or really, what the default female figure is going to be in general)

So I would like to add my voice to this thread. Bioware, in the near future, please release some kind of DA2 promotional material featuring Lady Hawke!

Well, one Dev (or Priestly, I don't know exactly who it was) said that Lady Hawke does look "hot".
Yet one can only guess if "hot" includes backache causing boobage ...

Some concept art would be cool, they managed to finally have their default male lead actually look attractive, be intresting to see if they put as much effort into Lady Hawke.

I found FemShep and shepard defaults equally unattractive in ME.

Oh i sooo agree! The defaults were really bad in ME. And FemShep had that plastic hair, looked like from one of those dress up Barbie games :pinched:

But in DA the premades were really good. =] I don't agree with their bodies tho.  they are even worse now. How can a rogue run with those...those...

Maybe their not really hers? It's all a magical illusion and that's why she can run and not have incredable back pain!!Image IPB

Seriosly though, if that really is the female body model I hope that there is either multiple models or atleast a breast slider because thats just ridiculas.

DAO had single mesh per armour type per race and i don't think there's mention anywhere about them moving from that model (understandably so since that's both quite a bit of work and extra load on the computer/console resources) ... so, short version, what you see on Bethany you're most likely going to see on Lady Hawke, too. And every other human female in the game.

This is kinda off topic, do you guys use the Wacom tablet? I'd like to buy one, but a little budget conscious about buying the Intuos Large version (13"x8"), or just get Bamboo series, which is already 1024 pressure sensitivity.

I use a Intuos3 A4 size and it does the job, but the bamboo you are looking at has the same pressure as what I'm using so I would go with the Bamboo series if that is the case :) the only bad one I have had was my first which was tiny and really hard to get a normal sweeping line on ( but it's still working years later for friends kids). I also wait until end of financial year sales and got it a lot cheaper than what it is normally. You can also get different nibs ect. There was one in this that came with a rough tip to make it feel more like a sketch book but I have not tried it yet.

The Aimo comic is great! what a way to start the day ^^

Couldn't they do body/proportion sliders similar to what they do for faces?

Each model for armor is unique. It is very difficult to make sliders because of this--they would have to make a new armor model for every body type.

Bethany's proportions just look weird. I mean big boobs, whatever, but her neck seems to be of almost FemShep proportions! Maybe it's just the robes, I'm sure she looked better in the first shots.

In theory, yes. In practice it's large amount of work added, which is why they don't have it -- each slider is roughly tied to a separate, differently shaped model and the game uses these individual models as guidelines how to adjust individual parts.

Then there's also issue of extra stress put on the computer which has to draws it. Either this is done on the fly or (as it's the case with the faces in DAO) each shape is stored individually, but both routes involve at the least extra memory used to store these individual shapes. And because memory isn't unlimited (especially on the consoles) this would come at expense of something else.

Which is, to say the least, bollocks. The slightly less succesfull MMO Age of Conan manages variying body sizes just fine. =]

Game engine programming isn't my thing, but I assume there are methods of altering the shape of a model on the fly depending on a variable body type; I'd assume it all amounts to altering vector coordinates in the end.

I'm sure this comes as a great performance cost, though, because you only really see this in games that specifically advertise their character creator and often have little else to offer (see: most Asian MMORPGs).

I think the damned neck pieces they keep putting around their necks look frigg'n ridiculous. I understand and get they have a seam in the skin there but why can't they just add a necklace like for your default "naked" model?
And sliders for the airbags would be handy. It depends how much they want to put morphs into their clothing and I got the feeling from the thread about armors a while back they are not inclined to spend a lot of time on mucking about with different armor shapes as it takes time away from developing other areas of the game.

Edit

@tmp7704 - Didn't think of that one mucking with the memory issue and space (yes sorry I am ignorant to consoles as I don't own one so I don't know how it all works for them).

So I guess we are safe to assume figures will be a default shape until/ IF they bring out a updated toolset for people to make mods.

I know nothing about game programming, but I heard it has to do with the way they build armor in the game, for which each set is unique. Sure it can be done, but not they way DAO did it.

Also, that same MMO shrieked bloody murder when an accidental breast reduction was done on their characters.
