Her armor is rather knightly and fancy for a starting character.

That being said, I would not object to some nice undergarments during romantic scenes instead of some busted strapless bra and thong. It just has to make sense.

Ack! The underwear for the female model just looked downright awkward. Heck, Morrigan is wearing more in the way of a bra without clothes than with them!

That being said, I'd be hesitant to endorse the appearance of a lacy neglige or a set of decadent red lengerie. Hawke is a warrior here. And I don't think they'll make seperate sets of underwear for general skivvie moseying and romantic scenes.

Oh my goodness, Garret Hawke in a bra...

I adore Hildegard's armor. I was surprised to see such a . . . . . modest character in Soul Calibur, which is rather notorious for its skimpy female outfits (Ivy, anyone?).

I also like playing has her. Sword/Spear combo is fun fun fun.

I think that when we argue that women shouldn't wear chainmail bikinis or have bazooka breasts, men (and sometimes the women arguing the point) forget we aren't saying that all sexuality should be removed from the game. Would plate armor really look like Hilde's? No. But that character was specifically designed to be beautiful and covered up. (Compare Ivy from the first game, to Ivy from the most recent.) I don't mind how Hilde's armor is. I think it's lovely, personally. And, best of all, guys can like it to.

I've said this a few times, but, guys, do you honestly dislike characters for having average-sized breasts? You might think a character is hotter when she has bigger boobs, but do you dislike her for being average? Or not gargantuan? I doubt it. You guys appreciate boobs. :wizard: That's what I was raised to believe.

But, on the reverse side, I see girls comment a lot on how pleased they were with the respectable treatment of females in DAO. And now, looking at Bethany's model, we're really hoping that it changes, or that's not the norm.

It's just a matter of making everyone happy, or making some men slightly happier and getting on the bad side of a lot of women.

I was speaking in very general terms. Mainly about the balance between level of femininity and realistic looking protection. It wouldn't have to have the elaborate details.

That's a difficult question for me to answer. It varies dramatically on if you're asking about my standards of beauty in real life, or my standards of beauty in escapist entertainment. This obviously being the latter, and therefor easier for me to explain.

Do I dislike characters for having average sized breasts? Absolutely not. I've come to believe I'm not like most guys, but to me; the character is absolutely the most important.

Take my favorite Mass Effect character; Liara T'soni. She has a very unemphasized bosom, and turtlenecks seem to be an aspect of her character. But she's my favorite character in either of the Mass Effect games because I love her character so much.

I won't try to deny that yes, I do appriciate the physical appeal of boobs. Because, really; I am a guy. But I do not let it dictate my appriciation of the female form and most certainly not of the female mind and character.

And when a female character has torpedo bazooms, I tend to roll my eyes and loose interest.

Gosh, I've never talked this much about boobs my entire life...

I think I'm formally giving up the boob crusade. I'm about 95% sure at least one of the devs has seen my various posts on the subject and I'm taking the silence as a hint. Well no one can say I didn't raise my objections before the game came out. *sigh*

Well, should the bazooka boobs be universal, I am certain that there will be a mod to correct it. A cold comfort, I know. But there is only so much you can do.

To be honest, I could see my Cousland rogue grabbing her fanciful undergarments while the castle went up in flames ^_^

I...hm.  Real World moment!  I know women that serve in the army.  Some of them have mentioned owning something pretty to wear for their significant others.  Being a warrior/soldier isn't mutually exclusive with enjoying pretty clothes, or from enjoying the reactions your partner has upon seeing you in them.

Now, back to Thedas!  This time you aren't a fugitive on the run from the paranoid delusions of Regent Loghain, and are (preumably) based in one of the largest cities in the Free Marches (and a trading port to the boot), being able to find romantic underthings is not a stretch.

Depending on the scenarios available (and the LIs available to play them out with) I'd be very happy to indugle in some *wink wink* roleplaying. :P

That's my point--guys will probably like a girl with bigger boobs better, but not dislike a character for having smaller breasts. Whereas girls like their avatars to look like they can pick up a sword, and dislike seeing Playboy models on their heroines. One of these options pleases everyone, with very little sacrifice. I honestly don't believe the game would do exponentially better for having characters with large breasts--at least, not this game in this series, with this company.

It would surprise me if Bethany's character model is the one for all females, just because I've seen devs pride themselves in their respect towards women in the previous game.

Probably not...I'll wait until the games come out to tick points off of my BioWare score card, though. Dramatic, I know.

Back on the discussion of Lady Hawke's intimates; the concept art of the new race designs --I like to call it "Anora's Secret"-- had some interesting designs in the underwear department.

Image IPB

Granted, the elven lass' leather neglige looks a tad uncomfortable, I like the human female's underwear. Granted; it's still the strapless pushup bra, but I think it "pushes up" less than the ones in Origins. Of course, should the bazooka boobs --Man, that's so fun to say-- are final; we're pretty much doomed no matter what path they take with female underwear.

She might have her own character model, which would make plenty of sense.

I suppose you do have a point there.  TBH, the size of boobs on a fake person isn't something I pay all that much attention to.

I'm always one for more options though, so customization of the character model's attributes would be cool.  And I could appreciate it if not every woman in the game had essentially the same body.

I actually don't know any guys who prefer the "Pamela Anderson" look; I think there's a dynamic shift in my generation towards realism, but the older crowd still clings to their 80s porn sense of beauty.

But looking at the lovely qunari woman's belt-bra, I find myself idly wondering if customization of the underthings would be too much to ask for? It wouldn't have to be too much more than a retexture job. Although I suppose the options would be far more plentiful for the female Hawkes.

Unless they go the way of Banana Hammocks. Ick.
