It wont mean a thing if its not better then nwn 1.Nwn 2 can be a example of a anticipated game that was outdone by the origional.

No idea as it only works for me 50/50 so I keep doing the edit button. I have found it is better for me actually to post it on my forums and then move it here, lol.

Personally I have zero interest in MMO's. I'd be more interested in reading a thousand page essay on Donald Trump's scalp rash.

I don't think they'll ever outdo the original.

And yeah, and an MMO sounds crappy, and knowing Atari, it will be a crappy pay by month thing, in which case I'm most likely going to just avoid it.

If it has a monthly fee I would pass it up.... but if they set it up like DDO then I would check it out for sure. Same goes with single player games with no multiplayer.... will pass them up as well.

Well, aside from the MMO factor, I really, really, really, really, really dislike the new V4 rules in D&D. Any ideas on if it'll be V4 or are we in the dark more or less?

I don't know, I don't think they'd be so brave as to try that, especially considering the majority objection to v4. I at least know around here that pretty anyone who plays uses 3.5.

Although only a rumor, I wonder if a MMO is the right direction to take for NWN :?
And would there be user-made content?

Meh... if I can't build and DM with it, and/or have to pay a monthly fee to play it, I have no interest in it.

Ditto. If players have no share in and no control over the offered content, I actually prefer SP games. The only interest I have in PWs is that you can help shape them. MMO's without DM interactions and without the option to build for them hold next to no interest for me personally. And polemically speaking, I prefer onetime purchases of good stories over monthly fees for grinding. That being said my computer probably won't meet the system requirements anyway.

No way WOTC would let anyone release a 3.x title

Has the lawsuit between Atari and Hasbro been settled? I can't see any D&D game being released until that is resolved.

If they take NWN and turn it into a MMO, it means that all of what made NWN so great is gone (the COMMUNITY content and add ons and all the amazing stuff). To top it off, if they want to pay to play, i feel it will be the death knell for the franchise.

1rst off - NWN 1 has YET to be beaten...
2ndly - NWN 1 is STILL very much alive...
3rdly - NWN 1 WILL NEVER DIE! :D

So who cares what NWN 3 may or may not be, if it's better than NWN 1 (doubtful), then all of us would probably be willing to pay for it (IF it's all that), since the rumor is Cryptic is taking over (Which is now owned by Atari & we saw NWN2), then I think there is really nothing here to get excited about, really...

I agree with this. WotC will make sure that it is 4th edtion if it is released at all and with Cryptic Involved it will be the usual just get it out there and hope for a return on the release unless they take thier time.

If it's even close to being as game-breakingly (and companion-wise) buggy as NWN2 was, then I'm not going to bother buying NWN3 should it come out. Otherwise, I might consider giving it a go.

Edit: I'd also prefer it if BioWare were to be involved in it, but something tells me that it isn't going to happen.

I assume you're referring to the NWN2 of 2006, because the NWN2 of 2010 is extremely stable as a gaming platform.

For a SP Mod but not for a PW but that is IMHO and not to be taken as gospel.

Well said.

While NWN1 may have it's own share of flaws and hardships due it being the most dated of the box packages, it is still the most enjoyable, most diversity (due to class combinations and level cap**, and simply put the easiest complete package for scripters and builders to use.

If it were just the OC's and expansions, we wouldn't even be here, but the sheer flexibility of the game has what have given it such staying power even to this day.

Like many here, I am leery of MMO's, though in some ways PW's are not all that much different then an MMO.
I also do not hold any love for Cryptic studios.
Wish Bioware was still running the D&D boat.

**People can say what they want, but max level is very important, I didnt
even buy SoU untill after HotU was announced, and I was far from the
only one.
