I played Dragon Age first, and because I loved it, I snogged it for about 60-70 hours of game play. I redid missions over and over again just to make Alistair happy, I even went back about 5 hours of game play to get a SEMI happy ending of being Alistair's Queen at the end of the game. We will see how that works out.

Anyway, I played Mass Effect two, only to have my heart broken that I couldn't have a gay relationship with Kaiden, nor with any other boy for that matter. :( I am a woman who loves to play gay men. I must say Zevran, is just not my type... he was a little too much. I felt like he was a bit cheap, while he had a cute side, I would have rathered a less "Easy Lover." Mass Effect SHOULD have had it, but I will not harp on a game that I didn't like as much anyways.

My point being in Dragon Age 2, please LET me be gay with ANYONE in the Party. Not counting Dwarves and Wynne, lol. All I'm saying is that... Alstair could be HARD or near impossible to have fall in love with a man, make it a skill challenge, even a side quest. I don't mind the difficulty as long as there is something that allows for it.

I know a few Yaoi fan girls, who would pay good money to get gay options in all the bioware games. It's not just boys who play these games, we girls like romance, as well as adventure! Gay romance just takes the silly girl out of the picture and leaves you with two bodies your attracted to. I think that is true for how men see lesbian, and there are enough of those in your games already.

I would pay up to $10 to have working gay Shepard in Mass effect, and I mean that! No Ma'am crap, no cheats, just Bioware allowing me to make my own decisions. Being Gay isn't a choice, but it should be in a videogame. I would like to know if others feel this way on the forums, because Dragon age 2, NEEDS to have diversity!

Thank you very much for dragon age, it really has touched my heart as a gamer, and I am dying to play the next one,

India<3

The gameworld's so obsessed

With dramas so depressed

It's hard to sell a ticket in Gamespot

games should be more pretty

games should be more witty

games should be more...

What's the word?

Gay?

No matter what you do in a game

Keep it light, keep it bright, keep it gay!

Whether it's murder, mayhem or something lame

Don't complain, it's a pain

Keep it gay!

and so forth, thank you Mel Brooks!

I think gay relationships should be there but I don't think every party member should be capable of being romanced by both sexes

I understand your concern Vandrayke, and of course it would be a bit odd for Sten to be all lovey dovey. My concern is I don't want just ONE man I can romance, I would like an easy one to romance, a hard one, and a near impossible. Each would extend my game play in trying to get different stories and what not. ^_^ Just a thought.

I like the way Bioware handled it in the first game. Sexuality should be a matter of the character's design, IMO. More options is always good though, if they can implement them.

Isn´t the everyone bi trope exagerating a bit?

You might find interesting mangas by Clamp and the Torchwood series. Love has nothing to do with gender there.

That's another thing.  A gay-only character would be cool.

LOL, Nerevar-as, yes even in the Authority they alluded to a universe where gender doesn't matter. I don't even mind if they show some hardships or anything in the game. Even to lead you on with one character and then break your heart. IDK I just want some options, I guess I technically should be happy with just Zev, but I'm selfish like that.

Make everyone bi-sexual? Everyone?

That's a little extreme.

Well, I'm all for same-sex romance in the game.

But it'd be too unrealistic for every character to be romancable by both genders.

To Rogue Unit, I didn't mean that it would be easy for everyone in the party. I think it would be realistic to have some of the characters almost impossible to romance, but after sidequest and doing main quest a certain way they might begin to open up more to you. I guess I just have the feeling that love has no gender, but that we hall have a preference we prefer. I would like a hard challenge in the game to open the heart of one of my team mates. That's just me. ^_^ I make the game difficult on myself.

Gay romances are super, but forced "gay" on every party member is unnecessary. Real life people have defined sexual orientations. No matter how wonderful your dudeShep was, Kaidan is a straight dude who wouldn't be interested. Dragon Age should emulate real life in that respect.

What I would like to see, however, is reduced stereotyping. A big ****ing masculine dude qunari as an exclusively male romance would blow my mind, and offer a good contrast to the more Zevran-y type characters.

EDIT: Just saw your above post where you said love has no gender, which is certainly true provided you look at love as something that has about a million definitions (which it does); not all love is sexual. I'm a guy and I have guy friends who I can openly say I love, though I have absolutely no sexual interest in them whatsoever, and no amount of loyalty quests is going to develop one. This might not be the case with everyone, but the gay people I know are simply gay, the straight people I know are simply straight, and the very few bisexual people I know might just fit the ideal of love you spoke about, but it certainly doesn't apply to everyone.

I don't really get how the lovely dovey thing has anything to do with romance or gay people but...

In my opinion, no, and I'm the person that totally would go for half of the men in the game, mind you. I wouldn't like if everyone was bissexual, but I would like a gay character different from Zevran. But to be fair, even if I don't like in as a LI I guess a lot of people do.

Well, you won't be able to romance all of them in a single playthrough, so I think it is a good idea.

I say yes to making some party members gay, but not all! Denying that request would be seen more as hatred than BW being simply more realistic about things, but come on! EVERYONE GAY?! I am not against gays, but I'd like to see a more realistic standpoint when it comes to certain things and I don't think everyone in your party will be willing to swing both ways or just with your gender no matter what they are.

I want to make it clear I don't WANT everyone gay, I wasn't entirely serious about that. I only meant that I want more then one gay character. I think we can all agree the Zev is just not a great gay love interest, a good one, but not great. I was more joking like, "yeah everyone should be able to get some!" ^_^ Just wanted to clarify myself.

As the majority, I also like the possibility of having same sex relationships, but I don't want every companion to be potentially bisexual.

If I have to complain something regarding relationships in DAO is that only 4 characters were romanceable, 2 straight and 2 bi. I would have liked more variety (why not gay only?), And a bit more personalized relationships (for example, a different behavior of people towards interracial couples, if it is an issue in the DA world, and so on).

Also I would have liked the idea of the triple path romance-friends "with benefits"-friendship (love is love and sex is sex!). But perhaps this would have been a bit too mature for a computer game.

As "first attempt" I would say they did a good job in handling this part.

The problem with making a character exclusively gay or making all of the characters bi is that most people won't take advantage of the opportunity. A tiny portion would use it. It's hard to justify devoting so much time, money, zots to something only a few people will use.

Of course, problem fixed if you just add an achievement for it. :P

You know, it would be cool to see a gay-only character--especially with the hints we've been getting about romancable NPCs in the world, as opposed to just your party members.

Ah, that. Well, I suppose it's reasonable. In Origins you have, if I'm not mistaken, two "gay" guys: Zevran and the man in the Human Noble Origin. But I suppose the two of them are bissexual. But I can't say it's a large amount.
