UPDATE: Copy-Protected Savefiles

I know we have many threads about the copy-protection for the savefiles, which is an issue that affects all ps3 users and has up to now not been attended to by Bioware.
I recently sent a message to Fernando Melo asking that they please review the possibility to patch this (idiotic) hardware-linked copy protection and exchange the safety measures for PSN ID linking, and got the following response:

Just got a new PS3 yesterday and am so hoping they will fix it.
It would suck losing my treasured savegames from my old PS3 and not being able to import them in DA2.
Finally managed to buy a new PS3 coz internet had not worked for a long time anymore and Sony's warranty behavior is one of the worst I ever experienced.
But at least I now can finally lay my hands on Awakening (only available for download in Europe) and some of the DLC.

Gamescom is over so hopefully this will be hitting Bio's discussion table very soon
Yes, hope we will soon hear about it. I would already be happy if they tell us yes or no because even if it is a "no" I could at least go and sell my old PS3. Just still keeping it in hope that I will be able to transfer my savegames one day.

Don't understand this post. Are you talking about importing your DAO character to Awakening?

@Lord Gremlin: Yes the character limit sucks... but if we could backup our saves, we could make more characters without having to really delete them.... and removing copy protection is waaay easier than changing character limitations (that are probably associated with resources)
@Delta_Prime: Thanks and I am very hopeful this will be revised... let's keep the threads going!

It's pretty common, many PS3 games had copy-protected save files and later were patched to remove protection. DAO is a sad and outrageous exception. Same with Bayonetta...chain25 wrote...
@Fex: Oh, I did not even know that this is possible for PS3 users. Thanks for your reply!

On the copy-protection, let's keep the requests coming... the more we are the more chances we have, and I see most ps3 players have moved on and fear this will be impacting da2 sales

True!
I was not able to copy lots of savefiles to my new PS3. And I totally do not understand the intention behind copyprotected savegames.

Has anyone else here had any luck with characters uploading from DAO on ps3 system? Or are all of you on pc?
I'm on a PS3 and used to have problems. Once I started doing the following steps in the game, I was much more successful at uploading my characters. Some suggestions:
* Don't use backgrounds (it will upload the background but not the character)
* I've had most success with characters uploading during my first visit
to Ostagar. I don't not leave Ostagar until I have confirmed my
character has uploaded.
* Leave your game on for an hour or so after you finish playing if you can.
* I've noticed that I have better luck uploading characters during the day or late afternoon than in the evening - have no idea why.
I've been following this formula now for all my latest characters and it has worked. I hope it helps you

Hopefully we'll see something forthcoming, though it will be too late to help me.
