Jumping is kind of useless in an actual RPG.
So true. Dungeons and Dragons, World of Darkness, Exalted, WEG Star Trek, Star Wars, GURPS, Rifts -- all those games with mechanics for jumping? Not actual RPGs.
It is hard to display jumping animations with ASCII characters anyway, isn't it

In fact, if dungeon exploration and skills required to do so, such as jumping and climbing, were merged with an Epic story line such as those from Baldur's Gate and hopefully now Dragon Age - that would be THE game to play.
Getting up close and personal is something I've missed in many games. More often than not, I feel I am not as much directing a living breathing party - as I am simply pushing statistics around a giant arena. In games where it's possible to interact more with the environment, the statistics illusion becomes harder to see through, for me. I feel more engaged in the experience.
Some people may complain that you cannot merge jumping and acrobatics with a game such as DA that requires oversight and control of many team members. To them I say : Pfeh. It's very possible, and one day a cool company will do just that. It simply requires an innovative control scheme.
.. my 2 cents.

This is what I want. I can't think of anything else I'd like from modding, at the moment.Crunchyinmilk wrote...
I would think the first, most popular mod will be the 'knick knacks' mod that gives you an equivalent (identical?) item for every stupid pre-order bonus ever, for any version of the game. From the outset you get every silly ring just as if you'd pre-ordered it from wherever. Pick and choose what you want to use at time of play, not at time of purchase.
Following that, the next most popular mod will be eyeshadow for men.

A "human commoner" origin is sorely missing, for instance.

On the hair/eye color, is this something that could be added easily by the player through the toolest or changing some hex numbers in a file? Or am I going to have to wait for someone that actually knows what they're doing?

1) More hair. Most of the vanilla hairstyles make me cry.
2) More eyes. Both shapes and colours. No violet eyes made me cry.
3) Scars. More tattos as well, but mostly interested in scars.
4) Additions to the basic morphs. Characters seem to generic. I can't get my women 'hard' enough without making their faces look fat.
5) Textures. Retextured anything and everything, really. Improvements to walls, grass, armour. You name it.
6) Headgear. I want a toggle option, or just a mod that allows for the hiding of headgear while still having it equiped.
7) Save Game Editor/Character Editor. Think the two used for NWN2. I enjoyed those two features. They could also be used to solve the headgear problem if it requires a code change, also like NWN2.
Of course I'd also love to see modules and stroies from the great minds of our modding community. That said I'd rather see additions first to add to the main campaign.

* New hair, eyebrows and eyes
* New hair and eye colours (There is no option for black hair?)
* New facial hair, tattoos and scars
* New voices
* New races, classes and origins
* New armour, clothing and weapons
* Armour, clothing and weapon replacements (For the horrid looking ones)
* Character customisation similar to Saints Row 2 (Not gonna hold my breath for this one)
Thats all I can think of for now I suppose

1) eat at least 1 time in 24 hours or the health, the strenght and Willpower goes down. Minimum food requirement. Movie scene creation for this action. Fire camp if outdor or tavern if in a town.
2) the need to sleep at least 1 time within 24 hours. Minimum 6 hours rest required. Movie creation for this action. penalties in some stats if not done. (remember Baldur's Gate?)
3) Need to have a bath at least 1 time in 7 days (better more times
4) The need to pass at least 2 hours in 7 days, in a tavern to drink and have fun. Penalties in some stats or friendship if not done after a long trip. Movie needed to show some amusement in the tavern, some random music and some random funny situation.
That's what i look for in a Mod. Situation that makes our story... a real story.
If i only would be able to script this i would do it for my own... but i am only a musician and translator... so that's why i look for good modder !

Off the back of that, height variation amongst races? And of course, a breadth of fresh content that adds a completely new universe to DA, much like Gagne's the 'Hex Coda' back in the nwn days.

As for all the jumping discussion, i don't think this game fits the whole jump part, like you dont see Marcus Fenix scaling walls like Altair or Ezio
