What exactly does the MSV stand for?

Not sure. It's used as a merchant or civilian ship designation.

Well... judging that SSV is for warships, my guess is that MSV is for merchant ships. So, I'm just going to throw this out as a logical guess: Merchant Space Vessel

SSV = Systems-Alliance Space Vehicle (ex. SSV Normandy)

MSV = Merchant Space Vehicle (ex. MSV Worthington)

My google-fu is strong.

Edit- Also, may not necessarily be right, but it sounds good to me.

That one I'm really not sure about. Wasn't that an asari vessel? It might not adhere to Earth navy vessel designations.

MSV and SSV seem to be only alliance and it would make sense that the other races have their own naming system.

The AML Demeter was an Asari vessel. So it could be Asari Merchant....and I can't think of anything for the L.
