What is wrong with everyone!?!? No offence.. has anyone here ever played a game thats not Mass Effect. I just started Mass Effect when the 2nd one came out.. and I was shocked at how low the DLC price was. Why do I always see a bunch of people complainning its too high? Do you ever look at other DLCs!? 800 msp is the standered price for DLC 560 msp is an amazing price for a DLC.. hell 800 for LotSB is great Infinity Ward got away with 1200 msp for a couple of maps.. seeing that, I think BioWare could get away with their DLC costing alot more.. but they won't 'cause their honnest and awesome. <3 BioWare

I think the argument is useless because I don't just play the DLC once, just as much as I don't play a game that I paid 60$ just once.

If anything, the DLC like Kasumi and Overlord are less than the cost of going to the Movie Theatres, and they entertain me for a great deal longer.
Next time you're eating out, look at how much you spend on simple things like food or beverages, or if you're older, a pack of cigarettes or a 6 pack of beer, or that cheap bottle of wine.
No, I don't think the DLC is that expensive at all

Why must I be older to smoke cigarettes? I'm eight years old and I smoke two packs of marlboros a day.

Relatively low but it can still be expensive. If you skip everything possible it might not take more than an hour and 800 is a big price for that. You can still say it's cheaper than movies or whatever though

Just hoping Bioware won't make the 800 points a habit. I really doubt their next DLC will be worth it without Liara and probably without tons of interesting stuff to read/watch in another new base

People are just spoiled by high quality DLC for low prices when it comes to Mass Effect. It's the old saying "Give an inch and they'll take a mile" Many of us i'm sure have had to deal with customers who always want to try and get more for cheaper or something for free. You need to look at the bigger picture as you said look at DLC for other games and compare prices and quality. Some games charge you 800 points for a useless piece of crap. LotSB was highly entertaining had some amazing graphics and has replay value. Yet people get spoiled and it just makes then want more because they've had high quality DLC for 560 points they complain when the price per product goes up with the quality. And no that doesn't exactly mean it'll be longer the legnth isn't the quality. People demand more and more from DLC and implementing this costs money. And when production costs go up you need to charge more.

If these people were making a product to sell and it was costing more to make they'd be the first to complain they need to charge more for it they wouldn't say "Oh it's okay my customers are whining because it's slightly more expensive so i'll charge the same and drop 30% of my profits"

A DLC like LotSB is not too expensive, because it's so good that I will play through it several times. And that decreases the "cost per hour of gameplay" ratio to a very tolerable level. If it was just linear pew-pew, then yes, it would be too expensive and I would ignore it. (Small) appearance and weapon packs should be cheaper or available with no additional costs through the Cerberus network.

I don't think the price is too high, LOSTB and Overlord had great value for money (Kasumi not so much, although I still don't regret buying it). That said I was just looking into buying the Aegis Pack and Firepower Pack and noticed I'd have to buy 400 Bioware points instead of 360 points so I'd be left with 40 points which I can't use at all. That I do have a problem with, and it's enough reason for me not to buy the DLC altogether.

The content DLC (LotSB, Kasumi, Overlord) don't bother me in their cost (though I still think they were a little overpriced), but the weapon and appearance packs do. Those kind of small changes are perfect for occasional free DLC through the Cerberus Network, but instead we're charged for it. It's further annoying that at least with the PC, I can't buy the right amount of points to buy just one of the weapon or appearance packs, so I basically have to overpay if I want to get one of them.

The idea of free DLC via the Cerberus Network seems to have been abandoned after Firewalker, which is a real shame.

It'd be nice if they did some freebies at some point maybe for christmas who knows XD. The Cerberus Networks seems to have just been a gamebuying promotion to encourage people to buy the game new. Like with DA:Origins they included the Shale DLC and the Blood Dragon Armor.

I have never understood why people would complain about spending a couple of bucks to support a company that has given you months of entertainment. MANY MONTHS. I still go over Mass Effect 1. And this Overlord or Shadow Broker DLC you think may be two or three dollars overpriced?

Also adding to my above reply, DLC should never be justified by the cost / hours of game play ratio. I will give an example and I will keep things rounded to an even number

If the game takes 50 hours to play, and costed you $50, thats $1 an hour. (Great value isn't it?) So if DLC takes 2.5 hours to play, and costs you $5, why do you think it should be worth $2.50? With pretty much everything you buy, if you buy in bulk (here such as 50 hours of gameplay), it will ultimately be cheaper then buying a shorter DLC. If you go to the Supermarket and buy 3 litres of milk for $3, buying just a single litre might cost you $2. Do you complain and say it should only be $1? So buying in bulk saves you more. Thats why you shouldn't be comparing hours of gameplay of DLC to the actual full product.

The DLC Bioware have released have been nothing short of awesome, be happy and enjoy it.

I don't mind DLC at current prices if they're good quality DLC. I hear nothing but good things about Lair and Overlord so I've no doubt in my mind I'll pick those up and hopefully they'll justify the cost based on the experience.

Bioware do release crap DLC however. DA:O is an annoying offender of this, last I checked the DA forums were quite vocal about it and I agree with them in a sense because the DLC for DAO was quite weak.

Also some of the complaint are really linked to the currency issue, for example DAO's expansion pack Awakening goes for a price that in a UK market is quite simply overpriced, excessively so - I haven't checked for a long time now but it was still going for 30-40 quid last I checked and I don't care if I'm super rich I won't push out that amount of money based on the DA team's crappy reputation for poor quality.

Mass Effect hasn't pushed or crossed the line yet. Iirc it's around 12 quid to get Overlord and Kasumi - 6 pounds each which, isn't a problem based on the quality.

Let see, game could cost about 50 and have about 30 hour with content. DLC cost about 5 and have maybe 2 hour with content. So games hour cost 50/30 = 1,7, while DLC's 5/2 = 2,5. Also if you buy game later when it cost about 20, then hour cost 20/30 = 0,7 per hour. So, I would say DLC are little bit high cost.

How ever, in general 2,5 per hour isn't much more than rented movie in some countries.

Yeah i believe the quality of the DLC does not live up to the price that has been given, apart from Lotsb. Lotsb has set the bar for all future ME related DLC. It was value for money. I'm glad we gotmore DLC for ME2 than ME. but i would pf prefered more time spent on them. But we have another piece of DLC on the way so hopefully it adds to ME rather than feeling like a money grabing piece on content with no heart.

compared to just about any other company - epecially the COD stuff - Bioware's DLC has been incredible good value for money - anyone that says different is either a liar/pirate or thick. so many people have this massive sense of entitlement to "free" stuff, for some reason, i really don't know where it comes from.

Anyway, the whole movie theater, food, etc argument is some... so~so..   One of those DLC's would cost me $5. If I had to put that into beer.. that would be 10 cans of beer or one movie ticket (which I don't go to anyway) or two or three burgers depending on the prize. The probably obvious choice would be beer... So Kasumi/Overlord would cost me 20 cans of beer..  or 10L of beer depending how you want to put it.

I want to cry at the prospect of wasting money on bad beer  :crying:

Sorry, why didn't we just /thread and agree back then?  What kind of beer can you possibly get 10 cans for 5 dollars?  That's like, the price of soda.  You'd have to be drinking some sort of swill to be getting bear that cheap.

Pro-tip, if you're going to drink really, really cheap beer, stick to PBR or Coors Light for God's sake.

Er, On topic:  The DLC price strikes me as completely fine.  $7-8 for 2-3 hours of gameplay isn't a terrible deal, especially when you realize that you've essentially invested that money strengthening your $60 investment by adding more content/enjoyment to a good game.

If you're analyzing it in terms of, like, $7 for 3 hours of gameplay = $2.50 per hour, whereas ME2 itself is more like, $1.80 or $1.60 per hour, then I think you're doing it wrong.

It's like, the opposite of throwing more money after bad.  This is throwing more money after good.  It's like, investing... in your gaming experience.

Yeah exactly, imho there's more value added with new squadmates or new locations or new story elements then there is on a new map, like in COD.  And sometimes those maps aren't even new!  "Play this map --- only it's nighttime now, oh snap."

Are you guys joking? 800 Bioware points are AUD$11.24, which is moderately reasonable for LotSB.

Mind you, I think that for all of the DLC, it's far too expensive, especially when xbox users get sales for things like Kasumi, Overlord, and LotSB for 200 points each and PC users get no discount.

Just for clarifiction. The three post previous to yours are about a bug that sets the price for 1600 BioWare points at 145 USD. Which is faaaaar too expensive to not be bug.

Ah ok, must just be for the US site? 1600 points at the Aussie site was AUD$22.48, although slightly cheaper at the EA store at $22 even.
