Are we done with the unnecessary censorship yet?

With The Witcher 2 coming out with full frontal nudity are we going to see any improvement in this department or are we stuck with hilariously awkward sex scenes and surprisingly decent brothels? I must admit I was rather shocked to see Morrigan dress up instead of down.

It would be nice to know if we had more to look forward to than even more gratuitous fountains of blood.

And is there a reason to not include it?

Because we don't want it there? Just because you can doesn't mean you should. We'll add what we think is tasteful according to our own standards, and no more.

And unless we're going whole hog with the nudity, I'm not sure why we would slip in the occasional nipple-- you'd get rated the same regardless of the amount, so it hardly seems worth it (to me, anyway) from a sales perspective.

But you've already got an M rating attached to Dragon Age: Origins, no? Unless you're shooting for a T rating with Dragon Age 2 I can't see why you'd want to keep the awkward looking sex scenes. It's not as if adding nudity ( where appropriate )  would suddenly propel the game to AO.

Sure... but see again where I said "just because you can doesn't mean you should". We'll include what we consider tasteful, and since we're not restricted to a Teen rating that means we can push the boundaries in other areas... as we choose. We'll do what we think is tasteful.

As for "awkward looking sex scenes", I'm not sure how one thing has anything to do with the other. Making them "less awkward" doesn't necessarily mean adding nudity. Again, it's simply a matter of taste.

I love how murdering a poor woman in cold blood as she's begging her god to spare her is 'tasteful' but a few minutes of bare boob or ass is totally 'wrong.'

Hey, I'm not saying that Dragon Age is a delicate flower or a Norman Rockwell painting-- unless either of those things can be covered in blood and used to bludgeon you to death, I suppose-- but simply that we'll be the judge of where the line is drawn for ourselves. We're not here to include every naughty thing under the sun just because we can.

But I seem to be using this topic to wage a proxy war on the stupidity of society, so I'll just shut up. :P

Indeed. Philosophical arguments over the nature of censorship can go to Off Topic, please.

But of course it's not awkward or hilarious at all that your character is getting down in their underwear. Dry humping doesn't really scream romantic, or love, it's just ridiculous; and not to shoot myself in the foot, but I'd just rather fade to black altogether than endure that kind of stupid.

No offense. Why include an adult situation if you don't plan on handling it with the maturity and taste that your fans/community have come to respect from every other aspect of your games. It sticks out like a sore thumb when other companies are pushing the boundaries for acceptable content, yet as a juggernaut yourselves you stand back not because of taste, im my opinion, but because you are afraid of the media wolves.

I don't think DAO was without its own risque elements, and if there's a battle to be fought over anything you'll have to forgive us if we choose which hills we want to die on. Even so, if there's an improvement to be made to romantic scenes I don't think it necessarily means more nudity. Perhaps it means a change to how those scenes are rendered.

Or maybe nudidity implied through camera angles and sillhouettes like in mass effect 1?

You'll just have to wait and see, won't you?
