Two words: tasteful and engrossing. If it is necessary and isn't cheply done than yes but only to the degree of the first mass effect, rear and side boob.

Well I don't know much about art and I don't really care overly much, but I think small genitals was a beauty ideal with the ancient greece, since it was common to rather have them small than big, but that only in a side note.

I still see no connection to this kind of art to art in an RPG and nudity. I mean, nobody plays a game for art.

As I said, there are many theories.

And while it is a little off topic, I was trying to help answer a sincere question being asked. It also came up since David's 'junk' was censored in a DLC recently. See? Connected.

And I'll play a game for the art.

Alright.

Can ANYBODY here give me an actual reason as to WHY including nudity in a video game will increase its sales?

That's the only way any game company will do it.

You are oversimplifying. They'll do it because they want to. And last I checked, nudity in anything increases sales.

Well whatever I am getting less and less interested in video games as is.

I was hoping to find more games to be directed towards adults.I suppose I either have to be in touch with the inner child or stop playing video games....Oh well game companies choose what kind of games they sell....Il probably stop playing video games altogether in the next 2 years because of it.

Especially when the 'backlash' starts. No better way to draw attention to your series then letting the Mother's of America ™ start blaming it for their 14 year old's pregnancy. Guaranteed to double your sales.

Because we don't want it there? Just because you can doesn't mean you should. We'll add what we think is tasteful according to our own standards, and no more.

And unless we're going whole hog with the nudity, I'm not sure why we would slip in the occasional nipple-- you'd get rated the same regardless of the amount, so it hardly seems worth it (to me, anyway) from a sales perspective.

But you've already got an M rating attached to Dragon Age: Origins, no? Unless you're shooting for a T rating with Dragon Age 2 I can't see why you'd want to keep the awkward looking sex scenes. It's not as if adding nudity ( where appropriate )  would suddenly propel the game to AO.

Just because something doesn't have sex and nudidity in it doesn't mean it isnn't/can't be for adults.

You're inner child might be tainted by such exposure. Better go play Mario bros. You can never be too safe.

Bioware and Mini-games don't mix.

Most game companies don't push the M rating to its limits (it's something that distinguishes the M rating from the T rating), there's significant potential for backlash if you go to far in the eyes of some.

As people have been saying, the best medium between graphic sex scenes and the weird underwear ones we have now would be the sort found in Mass Effect.

What i find hilarious beyond all belief is that Dragon Age is Mature rated correct? Meaning, to purchase the game you MUST be 17 or older. In the US, 17 is more or less considered an adult, and in some states IS considered an adult. What i dont understand is why they continue to censor and change their Mature rated games for these little kids. Its "M" rated. No kid should be playing it, period. My personal feeling is parents who buy a "M" rated game for anyone under 17 should see a heavy fine and/or jail time. Sick and tired of reading news articles where parents are trying to sue "X" gaming company because Little Timmy saw a set of breasts, place the blame where it belongs, on the parents, and stop censoring games that are INTENDED for ADULTS age 17 or older.

That wouldn't bother me as much, but much more the connectiion of violence and nudity in a game. Then you get headlines in the news like a bunch of 10 year olds found it fun to kindnap an 8 years old girl etc. ... I don't need to go into detail.

Someone linked a YouTube video from another PS3 game on the first page of this topic that had an interactive sex scene.  You had to press three buttons just to unclip the girl's bra!  It was incredibly awkward and I truly hope that BioWare never does anything similar.  In fact, I hope that nobody ever does that again.  Horrible!

Put down the controller and go have sex, son.  You will forget all about those shiny animated boobies.  (disclaimer: wear a rubber)

As I stand here and read this I feel like I should give my opinion about this matter as i used to be a retail employee before I became disabled on the job and I would like to point out that in as much as every one here has a good thought of concern I am reminded that rated M for mature means Rated M for mature if i sold a game to someone 18 or youngher with this kinde of content I would be FRIERD.on the spot.Retailers are soupse to enforce this rule and if they don"t they can get findejust an opion to bioware that if this is the kinde of content they want for their game than the ratings rule willhave to come into play. and like I said just an opinion thank you your friend bethany

I don't think anyone is suggesting hardcore pornography.

What I suggested was something akin to what The Witcher 2 has shown. Would you call this a graphic sex scene just because it features nudity? To me, it's about as classy as it gets.

It's because few parents actually listen to the M rating.  I got to play M rated games at 14 after some persuasion, and got full rein to get pretty much any game I wanted (within reason) at 16, and I'm not at all abnormal.  Hell, many of the books I read in school at that time dealt with concepts more mature than those seen in most M rated games.

Not even ESRB takes the M rating seriously, they know that a significant number of people under 17 will play M rated games, and they make considerations accordingly.
