Are we done with the unnecessary censorship yet?

There is a romance scene in mass effect 2 with Samara. Even though there is zero nudity, the effect of that scene is more powerful than other more explicit scenes
It all depends on how it is rendered
Your first point is valid. But there was no romance with Samara in ME2.

Self-censoring is also censoring.
You might wish to consult a dictionary.
Great job editing out the context of the quote! You get a gold star!
And you get to act the tool!

bioware doesn't show nipples because if they did, females and homosexuals would want front male nudity. And I don't imagine a team meeting to discuss the size of the qunari dicks, art team designing shapes of dicks based on races (qunari dick with horns, elf uncircumsized), designers creating textures for dicks, nd Mike Laidlaw being interviewed about how they hot-rodded the dicks design.
And now it all comes out.

Totally forgot about that one. I agree though, it was a great scene, even though things don't quite go the way Shepard wants it to.

At least you aknowledge censors are by their nature oppressors, though.
Is
your argument that BioWare is censoring themselves because they chose
not to include nudity in a game that they created? Really?
They choose to include sex.
And some very weird under garments.
Not to mention it all being the same!

I suppose you can handle romantic scenes without boob shots or other nudity. Nudity wasn't really the problem with Origin's sex scenes, it was just how unrealistic it was. You can have hip shots and skin minus the underwear which would ruin such an illusion and still satisfy all camps that aren't secretly complaining because they didn't get virtual porn. I look forward to seeing how Dragon Age 2 will handle these things, but I haven't been without my complaints =D

Yes. We hate nipples so much that we spend billions of dollars every year on porn and use sex to sell just about everything. Damn Americans being all prudes and uh... what?
With TW1, you had to download a patch to unlock the adult content...in the good ol' USA. That is called censorship.
I thought this was already common knowledge.
Yeah, and you can blame Atari for that. There's no reason to assume that EA would do the same. Certainly, you can't draw any conclusions about the American people from what one company chose to do with their game.
EDIT: And isn't Atari a French company these days? So really, some French people censored a game developed by some Polish people and you're blaming Americans for the censorship? Sure.

Blah, I sure hope not!
But seriously, ME1 did a great job in regards to showing skin and doing it in a tasteful way.

Yeah, listening to us speak is enough to convince any sane person with a healthy attitude towards sex Americans desperatly need to an intro to sex ed course.

How does this invalidate the fact that you quoted him out of context, again?
Also, questioning the intelligence of other users? Not the best way to gain credibility.

I downloaded natural bodies mod, and I can tell you the Alistair Morrigan dark ritual scene with that mod enabled is true "dark fantasy".
Watching Alistair's scared face while being fully erect being slowly approached by a 80's style pube-haired Morrigan was more epic than the Denerim battle

Because if you were informed of the proper use of a paragraph you would have realized that I did not quote him out of the provided context.

Actually, silhouettes can do wonders. The intro to any James Bond movie will prove that.
A love scene by the campfire at night doesn't have to show any thing offensive, even to puritans. It can still be romantic.

*facepalm*
This is getting ridiculous. Now you are arguing semantics. Just because he included a space in between words does not mean that they are two completely different contexts. If it's all the same thought, it's the same bloody context. I honestly don't know why this is obviously so important to you that would twist someone's words over. Or maybe you actually think that know better than everyone else. Who knows.

Perhaps I'm wrong on this then, although I have a hard time believing the French would censor anything to do with sex.

The love scenes in DA just looked awkward, because the characters should have been naked in such scenes.
But in ME2 for example there were some good scenes that showed everything in such a way, that they didn't need to have real nudity (like the love scene with Jack).

Even though your linguistic inadequacies are somewhat off topic, I suppose I shall have to enlighten you before you let this drop: In his post thegreateski made two statements, separated by a paragraph. The first statement was a disagreement with my statement that self-censoring is a form of censoring and the second statement was that self-censoring was good business sense. I disagreed with the first of those statements and thus replied to that statement and provided the required context in which to view that statement (i.e. my statement with which he disagreed.)

if the rest of the game is mature, 'real' and respectful of both sexes (ie not like in me2 with silly outfits and camera angles etc) then nudity is fine - like in Heavy Rain and even me1. Then it's nudity in such a way that it feels normal and natural, not an "OMG boobies!!!!" kind of way.
I think dragon age could pull it off if they wanted.

Agree you dont need nudity but the scenes in ME2 were just as tacky as the scenes in DA:O. And any scene with Jack was a front to, well everything! I still maintain Jack was designed by a 12 year old with the walking orders to make a adult character he would think is cool and realistic! End result, Jack.
Slim however is right that you can use shadows and silhouettes and come up with complete and wonderful gold and very immersive scenes that really show nothing at all but set the mode.
PS: Nice statements about waiting and seeing (implying there might be) David Gaider. The 2 doctors used the same line to the public 2 days before release regarding DA:O. Boy I bet you all thought that was the height of hillarity stringing your customers along like that. So funny we get the same lines again. Is this the original writing we should expect as well?
How about Bioware just answers a question straight up for a change? Seems there is a demand for this.
