With The Witcher 2 coming out with full frontal nudity are we going to see any improvement in this department or are we stuck with hilariously awkward sex scenes and surprisingly decent brothels? I must admit I was rather shocked to see Morrigan dress up instead of down.
It would be nice to know if we had more to look forward to than even more gratuitous fountains of blood.
Go watch pornography online if you want realistic sex scenes. You sound like a total loser. Getting jollies over pixels is sad and pathetic.
Does this mean I should not have an opinion and i should not get what I want because I am one?
Is this what you are trying to say?
Yes. I am tired of console weeaboos infesting this forum with their crap. They should concentrate on story and game mechanics, not satisfying some basement dwelling 30 year old ****** with anime posters on his wall who wants "realistic sex scenes".
Are we done with the unnecessary censorship yet?

Yeah I was thinking that. It's not as if World of Warcraft players have a much better reputation than console gamers stereotypically either.

It's not necessary, always looks awkward and just not worth development time. Romances in DA were all crap anyway and not sure why the trend will stop. Adding sex scene to satisfy some loser won't make it better. Bioware's last good RPG romance was Aerie in BG2 and they didn't need sex scene to make it good.

Apparently enjoying a game on a console just isn't a valid way to play a game.

The great thing about Bioware's romances is that they are optional and you can choose not to play them.

Oh, it's valid. But in the past the console playing ilk stuck to their kiddie games and all was well. But now we have amazing PC games being dumbed down, destroyed and disgraced for the sake of console market. It's disgusting. Console gamers have defiled the sacred grounds of PC gaming with their stupidity, which unfortunately is being catered to, since developing companies make more money that way.

Do I get a pass if I play some games on a pc but can't run higher spec games like Dragon Age? I really hope so, I don't want to be one of them!

Are you pc gaming is being down because of the consoles???
Are you really sure?
I think your gathering the wrong conclusion...
Making a cheap dumb game is quite easy...Making a very deep great game...is not and tends to take quite a bit of resources and time to make which overrall even if it sells well....will not make as much money as other average games...

The sense that I have gotten thus far is that some people seem to be missing the point of the topic being discussed in this thread (be it intentionally or not, I cannot say).
When I'm playing a deeply involving and complex game like Dragon Age, I insert myself into this world, into the role of the PC and set out on an adventure. Yes, I do realize I am NOT, in fact, the PC, I was not born to the Dalish, the dwarves or the Teyrn of Highever or whatever else have you... but I DO experience the world and events through the eyes of my PC. And so I put myself in the shoes of my PC.
Now here's the kicker... if a situation or character disposition calls for it, then yes, I am all for tasteful/sexy/even erotic nudity/situations (as opposed to just plain and clinical porn for porn's sake alone)... in fact, sometimes I almost expect it of the situaion or character and experience that rather unplesant jarring feeling when I am presented with that PG-13 "diaper" underwear and "dry humping" scenarios. It's just another part of the wonderful immersion into the adventure itself.
It was rather silly to discover Morrigan in her "naked" form, wearing that "medieval lace" underwear, especially considering her "regular" outfit. I mean she's wearing a string across hear boobs, with a scarf-like top just thrown there across her breasts. How does she go from something like that to a proper bra? I just shoock my head at that and thought "You might as well utilize those black bars or distorted pixels around the private areas, you would get the same effect, both not showing nudity and in jarring the player from the game experience."

I'm fine with the path that Bioware
chooses in their games. They handle most adult themes pretty well. But
since their games have sex and romance, give those parts the same
attention you would everything else. Don't make it an afterthought and
show Shepard snuggling with body armor on, or the love scenes in
DA:O.
I have to agreed with this sentiment. If you're going to insert an element into the game experience, make sure you afford it the same attention as you would other elements of the game. Everything comes together to create this vast experience. The underwear in DA or body armour in ME2 are totally silly... how this aspect was handled in ME1 was done very nicely indeed; it was tasteful, not over the top or in your face porn. Yes, it was brief but it was meaningful. And above all, believable.
Take Alistair and Zevran as examples. Consider their characters, who they are and their experiences. I would have expected the sex scene with Alistair to be a bit shy in the beginning, gentle, slow and beautiful, with the affection clearly present there. By comparison, Zevran's scene I would expect to be definitely more erotic, nothing shy about it, perhaps more fast paced but also beautiful, with more emphasis on the physical pleasure and perhaps not as much affection present (at least at the beginning of the relationship). Because those things (to me) are what I would consider to be staying true to their characters. It's what this whole argument to me is about.. staying true to the characters. The romance stories/paths are strong... but the sex scenes (which to me are part of the romance - not the main part, but definitely a part of the whole) seem rather... tacked on, almost as an afterthought. If you're going to do something, develop something and work hard at presenting something as believable, do it right and give the whole aspect your time and attention and not simply tack on one aspect and make the whole experience seem... I don't know, two dimentional.
The point is that DA is rated M for Mature. There is a reason for that. It means that the game is definitely not suited for 10 year olds or what have you. Aside from all those rivers of blood and gore and all that killing at nearly every step, mature themes are being addressed at every turn as well. I mean, if you can deal with the whole Broodmother scenario in the Deep Roads (btw, I found that to be one heck of a powerful experience, that was one helluvah writing right there) and deal with the powerful subject of rape in this game, why is it such a taboo to portray sensual, erotic, yet tasteful scenes as part of a well developed romance?
I would like to point out that it's all about balance... sensual, erotic (that is, IF the occasion or character demand it - there is absolutely no point in having nudity simply for nudity's sake) yet tasteful... that is the key.
*back to readin the other 10 or so pages*
EDIT: Just cuz I eat letters apparently...
