I was living in Europe when I bought The Witcher, so maybe I'm wrong...I'm pretty sure the NA version was still censored though.

witcher 1 made some kind of patch i think..
anyhow, i wouldn't mind nudity, but some people would so i dont see it coming... i mean there are still people out there who believe nudity to be  worse then violence (remember GTA San Andreas??)...

Have to changehow the US does ratings and sensorship.

Europe apparently is more lenient an open to such things.

Meh, I have my husband if I really need to look at those bits.

I think that was sex, not nudity. For the San Andreas controversy I mean, think it was called "Hot Coffee" or something.

Until BioWare can make the sex scenes seem natural and not like creepy Team America awkward puppet sex, I'm in no hurry for more unintentionally hilarious sex scenes.

yeah I find it forced when video games go fully nude. Leaving the underwear on is fine, but they really should make good underwear. :)

They should just censor it for Americans audiences only.

they can play with their guns instead

Why do we care? It's animated pixels, and if the story goes along with what we see it doesn't really matter.

We care because it harms the authenticity and believability of the setting. Something which is rather important for an RPG.

the authenticity of imaginary characters in an imaginary world that can do make believe magic and drink blood from imaginary creatures? is that the kind of authenticity and believeability you're asking for? naked imaginary beings? not everything has to be porned up just for horny college kids to oggle. females already wear lingerie armor. does it really matter?

edit: let me just say i would not mind if there was nudity, but i find this argument for it weak at best.

The Witcher is meant to be in your face with sex. It's part of the books.

As for DA2, I'm all for sex scenes ME1 style. But most likely we'll get love scenes with diapers cause there are legions of prudes clamoring for less sexuality in games.

There is little explicit sex in the 6 books I read so far, just some passages of foreplay. It´s not ASoF&I. People don´t have too many inhibitions in that world though, but even the devs admit the game exagerated a lot and they are toning it down.

In DA:O, the love scenes looked silly. Even if they had no underwear on, which would help, they use always the same body type. Haven´t tried mods, the only one I saw went to full porn. No, thanks.
They should just forget about the ME fiasco, it was a scene quite well done some idiots didn´t even see. The same could have happened to the PoP: Sands of Time game.
And no more broodmothers uncensored, please. If they wanted to disturb the player, they did it too well.

There was brief nudity in ME1 sex scenes and they looked just fine. Maybe people aren't aware that modern graphics engines can handle some bare skin.

It's not that difficult. Would you claim that this is more creepy than the awkward Dragon Age: Origins scenes?

The first step is to stop treating nudity as something perverse and see it for what it is.

Does it matter if we wield swords and not baguettes? Does it matter if the enemy bleed when we slice into their flesh? Does it matter if mages wear robes and not giant hotdog suits? Of course it matters.

Personally I'd prefer the "tastefully done" approach to the "wa-hey! ******!" one. I suppose you could call me a prude if you liked, but I found the sudden random boffing sprees I was able to go on in The Witcher a little off-putting.

I'm not a very sexual person myself (and was probably one of the few people a little irked that sex was a vital part of every romance in order to get the achievement, especially since Alistair and Leliana felt more like the achievement should have come from confessing your feelings rather than scoring), but I won't deny people their in-game sexytimes as long as I don't have to cringe all the way through my character's crudely animated "intimate moments".

How many of you have been in a brothel?

As for the love scenes, they shouldn't be shown fully at all. Lovers don't have sex for others, but for themselves (In the game you are identifying Hawke as yourself). They should convey the feeling instead. Maybe flashes of a gentle touch, rubbing of skin, stroking of hair, a soft kiss,... Romantic thing, not a porn shoot, yes? And a romantic kiss is with eyes closed :)

Not mutually exclusive, even if it often seems so.

We have to end all these ridiculous and baseless taboos we have as a society, especially in North America. It's ruining art and public discourse. Also it encourages our children to become sex offenders because their ideas of sex are so messed up and twisted by our taboos that they get zero guidance or truthful and honest discussion during their formative years.

Censorship and prudishness is not only bad for art, it's bad for humanity as a whole.

That's my two cents and I will leave it at that and not debate any further.

I didn't realize that in order for something to be tastefully done it had to be censored. How exactly is bonking someone wearing a giant diaper and a disgusting bra more tasteful than bonking someone in the nude? If anything, it strikes me as utterly tasteless.

Oh, I'm not saying it can't be both nude and tasteful. From what I recall of the ME sex scenes they were fully nude and I preferred them to Zevran's awkward bump and grind fest with my Dalish Elf Warden.

Just remembered in ME2 in the KAsumi DLC they censored the David statue. Not even classical sculpture gets away.

you pretty much have a point there.... i mean come on. according to america flying heads and stuff arent as bad as nudity, the big bad evil satan send to destroy peoples minds... i mean come on! that porn isnt really necessary we all know and it surely isnt a good thing for children... but theres a difference between porn and nudity, i guess its called "taste" or something...

At least they censored it creatively. I can deal with that. To have some enraged soccer mom go rip David's junk off seems plausible enough to me. The Dragon Age: Origins scenes were just thoroughly butchered.

Some places in the world(you all know where) it's normal to be walking in the street with a AK-47.

but to see a nude in a video-game,that's totally out of the way.

something is wrong in this world

It's either fade to black or nudity otherwise it looks stupid. I'd prefer fade to black.
OP is right tho, isn't DA2 an M rated game? BW stop being bigots. Apparently seeing mauled bodies, rivers of blood, decapitations is ok but a pair of ****** isn't. lol wtf?
