It's either fade to black or nudity otherwise it looks stupid. I'd prefer fade to black.
OP is right tho, isn't DA2 an M rated game? BW stop being bigots. Apparently seeing mauled bodies, rivers of blood, decapitations is ok but a pair of ****** isn't. lol wtf?

Actually it's more like "Disgusting mutated six breast monster nudity = ok, normal human nudity = bad."

Just remembered in ME2 in the KAsumi DLC they censored the David statue. Not even classical sculpture gets away.

That would be a travesty were it not so humorous.

I've seen that statue's unit in countless magazines and art books, on tv, in ads...and people at Bioware can't bear the site of it - an almost childish move on their part.

Why do we care? It's animated pixels, and if the story goes along with what we see it doesn't really matter.

We care because it harms the authenticity and believability of the setting. Something which is rather important for an RPG.

Dude, it's a video game. There many, many things that harm the authenticity a lot more than the inability to get naked. Like, say, using a keyboard to move your character.

We're discussing censorship, which I think is worth making some noise over.

Oh please, at least it was done tastefully. At least they did not give him a pair of pants (which still would have been funny).

people like to raise hell when it comes to nudity censorship like there's some core moral principle they are fighting for, when in reality, they want to see some T&A and are trying to find righteous ground to stand on.

I agree that censorship can be more than a little ridiculous at times, but so can waxing revolutionary about wanting naked characters in games.  :o

I dunno about the ratings in other countries, but apparently the ESRB's M rating is a bit stricter than the MPAA's R rating. The M rating allows for "sexual content", but "nudity" is specifically mentioned as separately falling under the NC-17 rating. Whereas the R rating allows for nudity.

I think I would have enjoyed the sight of Michelangelo's David wearing Levi Jeans.

i'm very anti-censorship, but i don't see where bioware was censored, really. if bioware chose to censor itself then they did what they wanted and left it at that. there was a great deal of nudity in dragon age. i don't think bioware was chased down by bible wielding prudes saying "no naughty business!" i think bioware just chose a certain path. although the medieval looking lingerie was a bit amusing and goofy, i don't think bioware wanted complete nudity and sex. i just don't think it was their goal. i could be wrong, but i don't think that was their aim. the witcher is a different game with a different theme. cd projekt chose that path. for bioware to do it i think it would seem forced. boobies for the sake of boobies. i thought the nudity was fairly natural. if there was more nudity, it wouldn't bother me, but i'm not sure it would make sense coming from bioware.

In ME same sex romances were removed even after dialogues were recorded and files in game. It´s not as if we lack precedents.

Did what they wanted?

They had full on sex scenes with people wearing clothes for crying out loud. If this isn't self-censorship then I don't know what is. I'll take boobies for the sake of boobies over the current censorship for the sake of censorship dogma.

Agreed, I'm not sure "censorship" is a good word for what they did.  It's not like it's illegal, they just market their games at kids, making little Jimmy console gamer have to try and convince his mom to buy a game with boobs is going to hurt sales.  If anything it's a matter of greed winning out over art, not art suffering because of censorship.

I'm fine with the path that Bioware chooses in their games. They handle most adult themes pretty well. But since their games have sex and romance, give those parts the same attention you would everything else. Don't make it an afterthought and show Shepard snuggling with body armor on, or the love scenes in DA:O.

meh I really enjoy sexual themes but animated sexual images look so incredibly forced and cheesy to me.

Does it, actually? If you recall, the US version of first Witcher was censored. Wait and see if the same doesn't happen to the sequel before you declare it as fact.

true enough.  If you're gonna include it, do it right.  Honestly I would have preferred fade to black and dialog over the embarrassingly awkward scenes from DA:O.

full on sex scenes? they fade to black. not exactly a full on sex scene. of course, my experience is only with lelianna, morrigan, and the brothel. i don't know if female wardens get longer sex scenes.

If Bioware is going to continue to cesor sex scenes, I think they should do it like The Sims.

Characters should jump under the covers and giggling should ensue.

There should also be fireworks. Because when I have sex, there are always fireworks. Duh.

but they do fade to black. they only show them lying down for a short period of time. i think the "fade to black" is where one would assume the underwear comes off.

The difference with TW2 and DA2 is that 1 is an American company, the other is European. Censorship still exists in America, but hey, in afew years it wont, its a crumbling wall.
