Is my Morrigan broken?

Hey folks,

My character seems to be caught in a dialogue loop with Morrigan, and I just wanted to ask whether this is normal.

Morrigan has relationship status Love (100).

I have finished her quest (paid her mother "a visit").

My character can kiss her without problems.

When my character ask her to join him in his tent, she refuses.

If my character then ask "When I asked you to join me in my tent...", the two get into an awkward debate, which ends with her wanting him to tell her that he wants the relationship to end. The character does not want that, for which Morrigan calls him a miserable selfish bastard, that my character will regret this, and then approval improves.

Now, this option never goes away. I can keep asking "When I asked you to join me in my tent..." (and possibly get infinite approval; I haven't checked). And my character cannot bed Morrigan anymore.

Is it assumed that the two are getting some action when me, the player, am not looking? Or has Morrigan crossed her legs permanently? If the latter, then my character would definitely want to "get some action" elsewhere. But this of course offends Morrigan...

"I love you, I won't have sex with you, and I get offended when you have sex with others". In which part of the world does this make sense?

If my character chooses to end the relationship, then the dialogue options change, but it seems that the two are forever "friends". I would prefer things not to end that way.

Is there something wrong with Morrigan, or is this behaviour completely normal? (will dialogue options change later?)

Cheers,
W.

No, Morrigan is acting as she should. She's a no strings sort of gal and is confused and a bit horrified by falling in love with the Warden. She will offer the Warden one more night of passion near the end of the game but it comes at a price.

No, when Morrigan starts actually having feelings for the Warden she'll freak out, so thats normal. I'm not sure if the "miserable selfish bastard" line is supposed to only trigger once though.

If you're on PC, I'd recommend using Terra_Ex's Morrigan restoration mod as it restores a bunch of missing Morrigan dialogue and fixes some dialogue bugs. For instance after that "selfish bastard" line, Morrigan is supposed to kiss the Warden, but that doesn't happen in the normal game- the mod fixes stuff like that.

*shakes his fist at BioWare*

*then sighs*

I didn't know that the game was this incomplete. Thanks alot for that link.

Sadly, I visited Flemeth immediately after finishing "The Broken Circle". I went to the Mage Circle first after Oztagar. Since then, I have been to Redcliffe, Denerim, finished Warden's Keep, and am on my way to Orzammar (doing the "urn" quest). So, I visited Flemeth "~4 levels ago".

Is my dialogue bugged, and is it thus worth backtracking, or can I safely proceed?

Note that "When I asked you to join me in my tent..." never goes away, and I can keep going through the same discussion over and over again.

There is a decent amount of missing, cut or bugged material with most of the companions, especially the love interests, sadly.

If you haven't finished the game yet, to avoid spoilers I might just finish it first without Terra's mod. Just to get it done, if you don't want the ending spoiled that is.

Then again, you could install Terra's mod just fine I think but most of the changes you may have already gone by- like there is a decent amount of material Terra restored that revolves around Morrigan and Flemeth.

You're probably fine to keep going, but if you want to get the FULL Morrigan experience I'd recommend Terra's mod on a new playthrough. You can certainly read the fix list from Terra's mod to get an ideaof what you may have missed, but there will defnitely be spoilers there, if you're worried about that sort of thing.

Alright. I'll try installing Terra's mod, see what happens, finish the game, and then take full advantage of it in the next playthrough.

In case you are wondering about my choices in the Morrigan-Flemeth business: I did exactly what Morrigan asked (though I did ask Flemeth what her proposal was, but I found her terms to be unacceptable).

Thanks again.

Yeah, Terra's mod restores a scene that should play if you take Morrigan to Flemeth's hut after you learn about Flemeth's body snatching. And then another little scene when you return after dealing with Flemeth amongst other things...

"I love you, I won't have sex with you, and I get offended when you have sex with others"

This sentence of your makes perfectly good sense to me. I find it intriguing that Morrigan wouldn't allow me to end each Darkspawn-killing day with sex. If you get a love interest with Leliana you'll have so much sex your only reason for continuing fighting the darkspawn -and not move into a little hut up in the mountains with her for the rest of your life- is that she'll die at some point and i guess touching her boobies after Rigor Mortis becomes apparent might be a little wierd ... and stiff ( http://en.wikipedia....ki/Rigor_mortis here's to those of you who didn't get the joke)

Further on; Morrigan isn't a copletely normal girl. No sane person would be after growing up in the Korcari Wilds with your mother; spending the days killing templars and scaring the ever-loving-**** out of Chasind people. Also, you can't really be sure Morrigan understands the concept of loving something, she might have loved something(A object or a thing she used to do, not a man) before, but there's a lot of things you can do without fully understanding it's concept. This is backed up by the time i only befriended her, and as she didn't fully understand the concept of having friends she didn't know how to act(she cried a little however it was epic)

Without spoiling anything. I can tell you that later in the game your relationship to Morrigan will gain yet another ... dimension. Just for the love of god don't think you can go around ****ing other npc's just because Morrigan won't let you see the sex cutscene time and time again. That's not a good idea in the real world either.

Just thought I would report back to say that Terra's mod removed the dialog loop I mentioned earlier.

Heh, I'm not having my character romance Morrigan so I can see the cutscene; it is, after all, texturized three-dimensional models humping each other through their underwear.

Let's put things another way.

"We are friends. I won't play videogames with you, and I get offended when you play videogames with others".

Unless the "you" here was neglecting the "me" by spending alot of time with the "others" instead of with "me", then this opinion of "me" is *very* selfish. A tiny bit of jealousy is fine. But losing "5 approval" for talking about video games for a minute or for sharing a game of Pong is ridiculous.

Maybe I, personally, have a twisted view of relationships. To me, when one individual refuses to have sex with the other, won't explain why, and won't change his/her opinion after discussing the matter, that marks the end to the relationship.

In our scenario, Morrigan refuses to have sex, and says she is confused. However, it is impossible to discuss the matter with her beyond the one time she talks to the protagonist  about "When I asked you to join me in my tent...". That dialogue is inconclusive; and the protagonist is not offered a chance to discuss the matter further. But whether this is because Morrigan refuses to discuss the matter further, end of story (equals end of relationship), or because such dialogues weren't scripted or won't appear until later (equals relationship in limbo) is unknown to me.

This situation started when <20% of the game was complete. I hope things won't stay this way until ~90% into the game, as this would correspond to months and months of relationship limbo.

Which to me is silly. If you really care about your friend, why would you not let him play videogames with others when you won't?

If you haven't finished the game yet, Morrigan's actions make sense.... just finish the game and you'll know..
