Why do you think that people who played ME 2 (like you and me) first like it far better than ME 1? Why is the exact opposite true for people who play them in the correct order.

Because everyone's wearing those rose-colored nostalgia goggles for whichever one they played first. Pretty much the same reason anyone ever argues over which sequel in a series is better than which other sequel.

I've played both to death and in the correct order. Me 2 is superior in every way in my opinion.

Sorry. Most people I've meet feel that ME 1 is better because they played it first.

Ive played them in order and while the first is fun, the second is just wow. I think it stepped up the cinemetography that they were going for in the second.:wizard:

I played ME1 first and I thought ME2 was better too. I guess it just depends on where your gaming priorities are, since both games have their pros and cons and are both very good games.

Judging by the reviews and a poll done here actually people do favor ME2 over ME1. There is just a very small, very small vocal group that wants to hate on the game. Its that nostagia vs advancement thing.

i played me 2 first, then played me 1 and it is just epic. I could definately replay me 1 more times than me 2. For me in me 1 the whole thing is epic, while in me 2 the intro and the suicide mission are the only things that are epic.

It really just depends.

Since the story is better in game 1 people who played game 1 first are more aware of what a step down game 2 was.

Since the gameplay is better in game 2 people who played game 2 first are more aware of what a step down game 1 is when they play it.

Meanwhile people who played game 1 first see the ME2 gameplay as a pleasant upgrade in exchange for a story downgrade, while people who played game 2 first are totally unaware of the fact its story is a downgrade at all.

Both ME 1 and ME 2 have excellent storylines; however they seem like two completely different  games in terms of "Gameplay". I like the gameplay of ME 2 far better.

Honestly, I know people are going to hate me for this, but the 2nd story was better, it wasnt a generic. Bad guy, good guy, chase him kill him. It was more heres your target, get these people together, train them, make them like you and then when you think you are good enough, then go and fight the bad guy. Personal preference but I enjoyed it more.

Actually, I believe that the storyline of both games were excellent. Just like the gameplay better in ME 2.

ME2 main story sucked, it's the side stories that are the meat of ME2.

Not for me it isn't. I know it is for some though.

I loved game two's characters, scenes, situations, character stories, everything. Huge improvement. Fully supported.

But I do think it's story was a bit disappointing, and I often talk about it.

Reapers taking over the galaxy isn't a good plot?

Sure, but in ME2 the entire game is simply recruiting a team to stop the Collectors, and in doing so, Shepard strikes a major blow against the Reapers. In ME1, there were more plot devices and advancements compared to ME2, which didn't seem to progress the story much further.

The Reaper plot is something of a joke in ME2, thanks to harbinger and his genius plan which doomed from the start.

Actually I think Harbingers plan was better then soverigns. He wanted to create a human reaper because humans had impresssed him ( Commander Shepard). To do that he needed someone close enough to get there (collectors) and he didnt put himself in harms way (unlike soverign). Really he had everything to gain and nothing to lose. The collectors were just cannon fodder for the reapers, kind of like saramouns army in LOTR The Two Towers. Thats what I saw it as anyways.

I thought ME2 was totally bad guy, good guy, chase him kill him. That's all the Collectors are, is the "bad guys".

I liked ME1 because at least the bad guy was characterized. I'm chasing after a person who I talk to and interact with, whose motivations we argue about, who has conflicts and depth.

The Collectors are a faceless enemy who do not inspire the same level of engagment in me. Again, I know it's just opinion.

Personally, I feel that you could combine both of the games and have one seamless story.

Meh again its opinions. I thought ME2 was yes bad guy good guy, but all the side stories, which in my mind made up the main plot made it more, find out what makes your squad tick and then feed off of it. In ME1 the squad was very, these are good people gone through bad times.

Ash/Kaiden-Marines
Tali-Innocent Quarian
Garrus- csec
wrex-closest one to a "bad guy" persay but still good. His father nearly killed him and now he kills for credits

ME2 was just so much more, these are the best of the galaxy by being the worst
Zaheed-Blue suns
Jack-Did you hear the stuff she did. I still love her though
Garrus-way more vigilante now
Mordin and the genopahge

And I think ive said it before but I liked the faceless enemy, made it feel more meancing, again though just opinions. Ill buy ME3 and love it just as much Im sure

Execpt that the collectors don't resources to do that. Sure they can do hit & run on the fringe colonies, but when they  run out of humans in the Terminus system, they won't be able to go to council space because they only got one cruiser. Their hit & run tactics won't cut it there. And to make it worse, the whole " THEY ARE GONNA ATTACK EARTH" is complete BS when you think about it.

I agree with you, but it was done poorly.  If there was more Collector encounters, a conversation with Harby and some more info, it would have been better. The story of ME2 had potinal to be amazing, but Bioware fudged it up.

No matter what everyone thinks, we are all wrong, (including me). ME 1 2 and 3 are all one storyline.
