Do these reviews also take into consideration that ME1 for the PC was a port of a console game whereas ME2 was developed for both simultaneously?

You decided to take the two most variable scores and use that as an example. The scores for the 360 are a lot closer.

The difference is pretty much negligible.

So did you not read my post?

The ratings I used in my post were not FROM IGN ALONE.

GTA4 got a perfect score from one IGN reviewer because, as I said, "professional reviewers" are compltely biased in how they rate a game.

Therefore saying, "Oh, ME2 got a few more higher scores than ME1, so clearly it is a much better game and that proves my point." is stupid.

Now I feel like an idiot. It sorta sucks being stuck on mobile internet. I can't research much without hitting my 5GB monthly limit, and sharing that limit with two other computers.

I want to experience what happens for myself!!!! I like seeing everything in these games... How some people can play the same way every time and not romance others or make different choices is beyond me. You miss out on so much content!!! I don't want to watch someone else do it on youtube. How lame.

Emphatically yes. A million times yes.
It is worth playing the first one, there may actually be a few things you like even better about the first one, like characters or game mechanics(Not having to use heatsinks/ammo).

I can't believe I even went this far. I LOVE the entire ME series and own the Mass Effect Limited Edition and regular ME; and both ME 2 for the PC and Xbox. Sorry I ranted like a raving idiot. My all time favorite character is Liara T'Soni.

In the end, you win. You can have ME 1 without ME 2, but you can't have ME 2 without ME 1.

The point is that the OP ought to play ME1 in order to gain a greater understanding and appreciation for the lore and the characters. They should experience the Cerberus sidequests to see where people are coming from when they say that Cerberus is evil. They need to know who the heck that person was on Horizon that chewed them out and they need to know who that asari chick is that hugged Shepard in her office. They need to hear Sovereign before he was Nazara.



And most importantly, they need to see Shepard's humble beginnings and hard work and experience what made the second game possible.
