Another DM is doing a NWCon6 event this evening at 9:30 PM CDT (2:30 AM GMT). The link can be found here: http://www.neverwint...me/id/32120.htm

Sorry to Banshe for another event unreachable by Europeans! :(  However, European time IS our busiest time for players, so if any players from there wish to join they should at least be able to find some people to fight alongside.

Well, I'm afraid I have no idea how to set up and irc panel discussion. So drop in on irc and I will answer questions (GMT -4 is my local time zone, Eastern Standard Time US, so I won't be awake at 0700 GMT ) on building in the NWN2 toolset.

Sea of Dragons just added another NWN2 event!

The Dwarven Expedition
Trudging into the village of Elmwood is a master dwarven smith who is currently seeking to hire some guards for an expedition into the Lis Ruins where he expects to meet with a Dwarven archeological camp. The miners and craftsman are now hunting for a piece of technology/magic hidden away in the depths of the ruins.

Characters will experience ornery Dwarves, drunken fireside tales (at the dwarf camp), and more.

Just wanted to thank all the folks who showed up for our NWNCon 6 event, just listing those who visited those i noticed, quite a few went on without me. I got a lot of input for DMFI features, and even implemented a few of them already.

Acadius - ALFA
Curmudgeon - ALFA
Banshe
Kanbyen Eye of the World
dunniteowl The Citadel Project ( yes he finally got on a PW, don't tell anyone, if he got on a RP server Sea of Dragons we'd likely lose him )
MasterChanger The Rise of Sauron
Akavit Sea of Dragons

You should check out their websites, their visiting is a good indicator that their PW's and modules are kept on the leading edge of what you can do in NWN2, and that these folks care about DMing in NWN2.

If you missed visiting, try getting ahold of me in the IRC chat and i can still get you access so you can see what is going on. I know quite a few who wanted a chance to take a look and who never got a chance. If you have any feedback i have a thread for it on the citadel which i will be going over a few times until i get everything addressed.

I had a good time learning to rp on Sea of Dragons, in the evenings of Sept 10 and 11. I've pretty much done only single player and action PWs until NWCon6.

Yes, a thank you is due to the players that logged onto SoD for NWCon as well. I hope they all had fun in the events that we held. Perhaps next year we can do even more.

Thanks to Urk and all those involved in organizing this, too!

Just wanted to say I had a BLAST!  And I mean that.  I think Dex2 was probably a really good example to anyone of what a really well designed and immersive experience PWs can be!  Now, I have to admit, the last time I joined in Online play was back in the old AOL NeverWinter Nights using the Gold Box Engine.  So my experience level is a bit dated.

That said.  I found the controls a little bit confusing at first -- there are many more necessary options in the control interface during PW/MP play and it was a little challenging to 'get the hang' of it quickly.  I propose a short set of tutorial guidelines focused on how to chat in MP/PW as that would have been handy to have before I made the jump.

Also, don't let PvP fool you into thinking you can't have a good time or that you cannot RP.  I am primarily and In-Character kind of guy.  RP, as someone has in their quote, is not sitting in a tavern telling tales with others not really doing anything.  RP is creating a character, making a persona for that character, and then playing that while you enjoy your online time.

I didn't do that very well on Dex2 as I was really hoping to try out some spells and features that painofdungeoneternal and I had discussed over many, many IRC and email sessions prior to implementation.  Brian keeps telling me he, "isn't interested in making a sim" experience and then he turns around and keeps adding all these super cool and super fun features that make Dex2 very close to a PnP online gaming experience that I've so far seen.  (Of couse, this is the only one I've seen, so...)

New spells, new options and the way things spawn, trigger features and weather, etc. I was actually able to see where some of the things we talked about at length were implemented and I have to say, it was very impressive to see it in action.  It was also very gratifying that I got credit for the assist in many of these things just because I talked a good game. :)

I'm hoping to get back in there and play with the spells some more.  They're simply amazing!  You ever wanted to be a Mage Elementalist?  You can be just by paying attention to your spell focus feats, the spell selections and carrying your character into that direction.  You can do it there on Dex2.  You want to be a pixie?  Go ahead, try it out.

I hope next year's NWNCon 7 will be on a better weekend for others and as a suggestion:  You folks out there in the PW portion of the Community owe it to your selves to plan ahead (start now, I suggest) for this upcoming event and get in there and show up.  You shouldn't ever miss out on an opportunity to strut your stuff and attract more attention.

I had a great time *(as I was pretty sure I would) and I will definitely start making more rounds of PWs to see what other folks have done that makes them different.  I will have to be very careful not to get sucked in too deeply or I may just have to have the wife insert a catheter into my arm and feed me intravenously while I download my consciousness into the PW of choice.  That probably wouldn't end well.

Anyway, those of you who missed this event, well you really did miss something pretty amazing.  There's more to it than just playing and testing out PWs.  I hope that next year, we have a larger audience and a larger core group of participants.  There's nothing but good things that come of this sort of event.  And I hope that next year, promotion of this event will start sooner, and be a bit bigger.  If I have any say in the matter, it willl be.

best regards all, and thanks to all of you who made this event possible and fun,
dunniteowl
