Female trailer?

Take it up with Blur. They're the ones that make the trailers.

Not to mention that BioWare does have a history of listening to us.  Female players respect that, and discuss things like this partly because they know that BW will take them seriously.

They certainly didn't do it for free.

I am a female and I think that a game like Dragon Age attracts a signifigant # of female players. Yet we've been shunned in both Dragon Age and Mass Effect Trailers.  I think it is about time we got our own trailer! Even if it is just on the website.

Are you a woman?

Don't you want to see what your experience will look and sound like?

Stand up! Be Counted!

here is a female version of the ME2 Trailer done by a fan

yes, but having a promisse is a start. and there is one. so start complaining in threads as this as soon as its not fulfilled, not before...

It's a good start, for sure. However, since you so conveniently skipped all the arguments in my previous post that were relevant to this point, I think I'll just start skipping yours from now on. Save us both a lot of trouble.

iTomes wrote...

i disagree. waiting and hoping and being silent can be much more powerfull: they already know what trailers theyll make for DA2. so asking for ladyhawke wont make her appear, no matter how much your asking for it. but if you wait and they dont do the trailers you have a veeeery good position for complainments: "i trusted you and you disappointed me" or something. if youre ranting all the time your argument doesn't become stronger and youll waste a lot of time. by waiting and then giving it an epic rant you propably can influde later projects. or, at least, you spare time you can use for other things.

Seriously? Because you figure BioWare marketing people's many talents include telepathy? How many times in your life did you get something you wanted by silently hoping for it? You must have more faith than I do. Good for you.

Now, until you actually have counterarguments to the ones I presented my previous post, how about we agree to disagree.

1. i tried to be more or less selective and avoid arguments we already had. if i oversaw or whatever something please tell me what you mean and ill try to answer ;).
2. you dont get something by hoping for it. but screaming also doesn't change whats already carved in stone. like (imo) the marketing concept. if they don't want to make a female trailer they wont make it because of whats in that forum (at least not since ea ate them xD). besides, the point that a female trailer is wanted was made many many times. making it again is pretty pointless. all im asking for is to give bioware the chance to make the female stuff before complaining. if they dont, that pretty much sucks and complainment is totally right. now the complainment disappears in all the "prejudging-complains" like the famous "dragon effect" or the "consoles ruining gaming!".
3. we can also agree on disagreement, that could spare us a lot of trouble...

Odds are Bioware just gave them some ideas for the trailer and they made it look however they wanted. Blending different ideas together (Darkspawn/Sacred Ashes).

I said this earlier in the thread, but I actually don't want to start advocating for a trailer until we see Lady Hawke ("very soon", The Great Laidlaw said) and know her place in the marketing scheme. I don't expect it now, or even for months. I don't expect it at all, actually: I'm just really hoping. If it doesn't surface, that's okay, too, even if I'll be a little disappointed.

Don't feel bad about simply thinking we won't see it--what bunches up our collective panties is when people say we won't see it and are idiot feminists for thinking so, or that we shouldn't ask in the first place. :D

Well, yes. And couldn't they say "Make a Female Hawke trailer"?

Regardless, the point is moot; I certainly don't expect to see a CGI Lady Hawke, and most people don't. I don't think Blur handles the regular ones.

You can find the post in its entirety here. Restating the arguments seems a little pointless at this stage.

I haven't even used a single exclamation point yet. How am I screaming? How have I complained? We're asking for LadyHawke to be represented in the marketing. If you have a problem with that, please explain. If you don't, why take offence?

That would certainly make both our lives easier. In any case, I'll be sleeping soon.

1. you dont have to ask a question over and over again xD. the devs already mentioned it the first time.

2. i dont think youre shouting but: "are you female?? send a postcard!!" pretty much sounds like screaming to me. i mean, the whole very important point made here pretty much disappears because of the way its posted... but thats only my opinion.

"You can find the post in its entirety here. Restating the arguments seems a little pointless at this stage."

ill see what i can do, even tough im not sure what i "totally overlook"... maybe we just have other opinions of important points. however, ill try.

"That would certainly make both our lives easier. In any case, I'll be sleeping soon."

yeah, me too....

It's the "important" part that's the trolling. Also "The female Hawke". I think.

yes, and the devs said that you will do so "very soon". saying you wont is for example a false assumption.

Which is why I never said that. I'm very happy that the devs said we'll see LadyHawke very soon. However, promises mean little until they're turned into action. Trust me, I'll be extremely appreciative once we get what we've been promised.

iTomes wrote...

if you want to talk about what ME did do and what ME didn't do you may go to the mass effect forums. this is dragon age 2, another game that propably has another main audience and another dev-team.

If you really are of the opinion that we can infer nothing from BioWare's previous marketing campaigns, you and I will have to respectfully disagree.

iTomes wrote...

the most games in the world are coming from EA. are all EA games the same? no they arent. are they all created by the same dev-team? no theyre not.

I never said anything about EA. While the games are not necessarily marketed by the same people or developed by the same individuals, they are still BioWare games, and it makes sense to compare their marketing campaigns, especially when they share a key feature. Earlier you brought up the marketing campaigns of DA:O and Jade Empire, which both featured female protagonists. Those games also share another feature: they don't have a single predetermined protagonist. However, both DA2 and the ME franchise do, and so far, their marketing campaigns have not included female protagonists. If you don't see a connection, I don't know what else to tell you.

iTomes wrote...

it doesn't help because the plans are done now and because those who are in the forum are soo less. they didn't "forget" ladyhawke, you dont have to remind them that she exists. ill be the first to complain that she wasn't shown when the game was released (and she wasn't shown), but until then complaining about maybe occuring future events is just silly.

I never said they forgot her. I just hope they won't overlook her, intentionally or otherwise. However, it's useless to cry spilled milk when the game is already out. The only way to bring forth change is to make it known beforehand that change is necessary and desirable. That's why we speak up now and not when the marketing campaign is long past.

You have to understand that this is not the first time this has been brought up. I was on the ME1 boards before the game came out, and for the longest time people, even BioWare fans, didn't know that you could play a female character in that game. It was brought up again before ME2, and femShep was never shown. We're simply trying to avoid it here.

iTomes wrote...

you appearently really make sex a big deal, dont you. i mean, something like that just because a mute woman was shown in a trailer?? i kinda know a word for people who make sex such a big deal: sexist.

Yeah, I think this part really doesn't deserve an answer.

ok, as requested ill just do that whole thing:
1. i answered that.
2. then lets disagree
3. i dont think it makes sense to compare the marketing campaigns, because, as i said, those are other teams. besides, i dont see hawke as such a big key feature, for hes different then mass effects shepards. for example, he hasn't got a predefined character. but we may agree on disagreement here. the EA thing was just an example, propably a bad one. that DA2s marketing didn't include female characters so far may be because it only started short time ago and actually "really" started with gamescom that is still ongoin.... i already answered to the JE point.
4. i still think that the marketings basically carved in stone and that you cant change it now. but thats just my opinion.. i didn't know that the issue with ME was already since part one, but appearantly the complains werent of much use there.
