Dragon Age has officially lost 1 user, provided Kotaku isn't exagerating, and the tacical elements of the game are actually gone.

Not true. You not informed. Confirmed by devs no button mashing except part tale Varric exagerated. Kills with one shot. Just like Denerim DAO final. You study more. My point are very true. You fail. Epic.

A Gawker site would never exagerate and intentionally whip their reader-base into a frenzy to rack up page views and comments.

Not too keen on the comment of the graphics seeming cel-shaded either...

In addition to what other posters said above, keep in mind that he was describing an xbox 360 version.

Unfortunately it's what they are doing. Laidlaw, Darrah and Melo confirmed that autoattack works like DA:O and there's not button mashing like Diablo II. Only, in the demo, you kill darkspawn with one shot because the narrator (Varric) is exagerating Hawke's tale. Just like in the final part of DA:O in Redcliff and Denerim. When Varic is corrected and tell the truth, the game will work like DA:O.

We've been showing off the tactical camera here at gamescom, and people have been happy with it. It gives a very nice mix of seeing the exact situation on the battlefield while still letting you issue orders, place your fireballs and such. Essentially, it detaches the camera from your character, letting you move it around and adjust the angle. Also, you can get some really neat screenshots!
We're doing lots of work to improve the default tactics setups for your party, so that will be nice for players who didn';t use tactics that much. For those of you who did, though, we're going to make some additional slots and conditions available. More details on that to come.
This is all from the live chat. You can pause and play and issue orders, or play in real time in Dragon Age II, just like you could in origins, so it's really up to you.

Somehow I'm really doubting he's a LI. That's not generally how they're described.

Dude, you gotta use sarcasm tags with this sort of thing,
It's an XBox preview anyway. If you don't want an action game, why are you playing on a console?

It seems to me that the beginning bit is essentially a fun, integrated tutorial. I don't think it's cliche; or at least, no more than the DAO world itself is. You take one with the other.

you have to use SOME tropes. I mean really after reading thousands of books, there's very little I haven't seen before. It's the implementation and use of characters that separates good stories from lackluster ones. Hardly any ideas are actually "original."
