I am more concerned about DA2 on the PC than I'd want to be... >_> All that consolisation going on is NOT a good thing. I don't want to have doubts about buying it on day one.

But numerous sources now have refuted almost every one of these 'consolisation' (a rediculous term) fears. "It'll be button mashing!!1!" - [sten] No. [/sten] You can still right click to auto attack etc etc.
"No tactics :(" - No. Tactics are the same, in fact even better (more slots, better AI)
"The tactical camera isn't there anymore!" - No. Although it has changed somewhat, I don't think you can argue with a completely detachable camera when it comes to tactical play. You can complain that it isn't like BG though sure.
"It's fast paced, action-y etc." - No. Varric exaggerration. All accounts for the normal gameplay after that tell a different story.
"Hawke is pandering to the console kids" - Just no.
The list kinda goes on, I'm not even sure I've seen one complaint that has any basis in fact at this point, at least a major complaint.

As someone who has no choice but to buy it on the console I feel somewhat bemused at how so many people who do get the various improvements available to a DA game on the pc are acting like they aren't there.

They are still there, but less than they should have been. The tactical view, for example - sure, you can still do the same by scrolling a lot, but you still miss the overview of being panned out far enough, BG2-style. Or the dialogue wheel, which is a lot more inconvenient than a numbered response list (not to mention that the dialogue wheel doesn't do full text). And for the graphics I'd be expecting at least some DX10/11 effects for eyecandy, but the consoles don't support any more than DX9 and so the PC-crowd gets low-end graphics, too. >_>

Also, even in the post-Varric part, DA2 looks to be more actiony than DA:O was, which is a bad thing. Oh, and I haven't mentioned yet that the availability of modding tools will not be guaranteed this time...

From the same dev chat.

Fernando@BIoWare:
[Juan Diez] - Good to hear the DA 2 engine is improving. Probably is a bit early to ask but wi[...]ll the PC System Requirements grow much compared to DAO? Some we would like to have a hint if we would need to save for a new PC or a PC upgrade to be ready to play in March :-)

We're looking at supporting higher end cards/dx11, but low end should hopefully be similar - so in short, if you can play DAO you should be able to play DA2. But until all optimizations are in its hard to confirm - that's the intent though

I
hate when people say "Bioware just lost a customer" (frist page). Did
you see a review of the final stuff to say that? Also, it has been said
numerous times that the demo was one of Varric's exagerations, in which
you have god-like powers.

I believe the entire game is Varric's exaggerations.

Then you believe wrong.

How
so? As far as I'm aware the entire game is told through Varric's spin
of it. The events itself really happened but the inhuman feats and
excessive blood and guts and other similar aspects would be a mainstay
for the game because that's how "epic tales" go. What did I miss there?

You could also preform inhuman feats in Origins, I mean leaping on top of Ogres despite wearing massive armor is pretty  much impossible for anyone. So i'm not really seeing the difference there.

Right, as was the over excessive blood and gore and other similar aspects. I never said it was different from Origins, I said DA2 is basically Varric's exaggeration.

So what you are saying is that it is a justification for the lack of realism in the game, thus everything in the game exaggerated? I'd agree that could be what Bioware is going for with the framed narrative. but what Dave was referring to was this post.

Dragon Age has officially lost 1 user,
provided Kotaku isn't exagerating, and the tacical elements of the game
are actually gone.

The exaggerated section with the supercharged Hawke lacks tactical elements because he so awesome, but they are still present in the 'more truthful' portions that make up the majority of the game.

www.1up.com have an actual in depth preview

Even going so far to describe the PC version which the tactical camera is largely the same but is now more at an angle

That's pretty much what  I was getting at, the Dragon Age series to this point seems to be playing strongly on the exaggerations occasionally seen in epics and old tales. I know what Dave was replying to, I just disagreed that the exaggerations of the tale will only pop up in those select few instances. He may not be hacking and whacking enemies with one shot on a regular basis as he would be in super story mode (Or maybe he will, we had that happen at the end of Origins) but the impossible odds, inhuman feats, over excessive blood and gore, the over sized weapons and armor, typical stuff will be there throughout the story and I can certainly class those as exaggerations in Varric's tale much as they were in Origins. This time they just decided to give it more legit justification for whatever reason.

Gamesradar said something similar as well IIRC.

Well, that is new. But it still remains to be seen how much DX11 functions will be added, given that those don't run on consoles...
